Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I stayed at this stunning chateau for 2 blissful weeks in July; the weather was perfect and the facilities the best we've ever experienced: huge, heated, salt-water swimming pool with a stunning mosaic steam room, sun loungers, areas to sunbathe, BBQ, lots of outdoor seating, swings in the trees hammocks attached to enormous, beautiful old trees, unbelievable views of the valley below and the Pyrenees on the other side, croquet lawn, bamboo forest etc etc.

We've only ever seen a garden this beautiful when visiting a RHS garden!

The Chateau is comfortable, beautiful, airy, filled with antiques and works of art, just gorgeous, and the beds are heavenly.

The local village of Aspet has all amenities and it was great fun to watch the world go by on Market day whilst sipping coffee.

We shall return next year!

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Amazing!

This beautiful Chateau has it all: hilltop location, incredible views, large pool, amazing landscaped gardens, incredible parquet floors, fitting, friezes, tapestries, antiques, all mod con accommodation, beautiful antique beds, marble fireplaces, huge kitchen, croquet lawn, Koi pond and on and on. Even friendly donkeys in the park down the hill.

The local town of Aspet is lively, has great farmers markets, all amenities and tons of activities with art festivals, music, cyclists and hikers meet ups, etc. We loved sitting at the local cafe' enjoying a grande creme and watching the world go by.

Exceptional! We'll be back next year for more.

Stunning, comfortable, charming: best holiday ever

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful Chateau has it all: unbelievable views, a gorgeous, large, heated swimming pool and steam room, the largest and most beautiful bedrooms we've stayed in, filled with charm, antiques, original features and lovely art.

Our family had the most beautiful holiday and we enjoyed so much the incredible, landscaped gardens, feeding carrots to the donkeys in the park below, sunbathing, going water rafting nearby and enjoying lazy market days in the charming nearby village of Aspet, whilst sipping a cafe-au-lait and watching the world go by. Aspet is lovely and full of life, events, exhibitions, farmers' markets, cafes and it's on the route of the Tour de France as well! Thank you owners for allowing us to stay in your outstanding home. We'll be back next year!

The estate is situated on a hilltop with breathtaking views of the valley below and the Pyrenees on the other side and it's set in open countryside at the edge of a tiny village mid-way (10 min) between Saint-Gaudens with its many amenities and large supermarkets and the charming and lively market town of Aspet.

Amenities such as restaurants, cafes, small grocery shops, butchers, bakers, newsagent, banks with ATM machines, even a cinema and local theatre, as well as large supermarkets and weekly farmers' markets, are just a 10 min drive away through stunning countryside.

The Pyrenees are nearby and the area boasts fantastic walks, hikes, climbs, paragliding spots, caves, rivers for water rafting and breathtaking cycling routes.

The Tour de France comes nearby every year during one of its most famous and demanding stages.

There are rivers and waterfalls, as well as gently ondulating countryside and beautiful woods all around.

The area is lovely and hot in Summer and cold and crisp in Winter with often mild Springs and Autumns. The Chateau has very thick walls and due to its hilltop position is fresh at night, even in the midst of Summer, so no AC is needed.

We have a beautiful, large, salt water, heated pool to enjoy.

Ski resorts are just 30 mins away and the famous Baqueira in Spain (elected best ski resort in Europe by the Sunday Telegraph in 2014) is only 90 mins drive away!

Saint Bertrand de Comminges is just 25 min away and St Lizier 35 mins: they are both officially listed as two of the most beautiful villages in France.

Cosmopolitan Toulouse, "The Pink City", is just 50 mins motorway drive away and boast great shopping, sightseeing (the UNESCO listed Canal du Midi runs through it), Michelin Star cuisine and many activities.

Lourdes, a world-renown pilgrimage site, is just 40 mins away and Biarritz, Bayonne and the Atlantic coast are less than 2 hrs drive West. San Sebastian, the famous food mecca and European City of Culture in 2016, is just 2 hrs away and a fabulous place to visit.

International airports: the largest is Toulouse (50 min), but there are also flights to Lourdes Airport (40 min) and Pau (75 min), as well as Carcassonne (1&1/2hrs).

The Chateau is situated only 35 mins from the Spanish border, which makes it a perfect location for an easy day trip to enjoy Spanish culture in towns such as Bossost, with its fabulous restaurants and many shops.

Easily reachable are also the UNESCO sites of Gavarnie and Carcassonne.
