About the Owner

My husband and I live in Kent but regularly stay at the property so we maintain it to the high standards we would expect. We love to escape to the hidden away location of the village and immerse ourselves in the uniqueness of the place.

A Jewel by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in the charming town of Coverack at the lovely home, Porthvean, was fabulous. The location was perfect and the scenic ocean views peaceful. My husband and I flew to the UK from Chicago and travelled to Cornwall with my twin sister and her husband who live in East Sussex. We went to Coverack to celebrate our 60th birthday. It was the perfect place and perfect house for this special occasion. The home was spacious and comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped. We loved the comfy beds and their plush, soft duvets and pillows. The showers were strong and had excellent temperature control. The town had great shops, restaurants and pub as well as coastal walks. Try the Cornish pasties or pastries at Elisabeth's. Stop by at the Paris Pub for a pint and tasty meal or splurge for a fancy dinner at The Bay Hotel. (where we celebrated our birthday) Don't forget to have ice cream at Roskilly's. The Village Shop was convenient as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return.

Exceptionally comfortable and well equipped house, in a very convenient position with superb views.

  • 5 of 5

This is the best equipped and most comfortable rented property we have ever stayed in. Great thought has gone into the refurbishment of the house, so that the rooms have a light airy feeling. The kitchen and utility rooms are very well equipped. The double beds are all a good sized, and very comfortable. Although we were there in the summer, features like underfloor heating in the bathrooms will make a great difference in cooler periods. The position in the village is very convenient for access to the beach and the parking space is invaluable. Finally the views from all the major rooms are superb. We had one of the most delightful holidays.

stunning place, amazing holiday

  • 5 of 5

What a find, absolutely fantastic place with a light airy feel and of course those amazing views, I lay in the very comfortable bed gazing out the window thinking I had died and gone to heaven. The house had everything we needed, nothing had been overlooked. In the early evenings we sat on the patio with a glass of wine and we enjoyed exploring the restaurants and shops in the village. It was the perfect place for us, four couples who like to go away every couple of years. We are going to book again this winter though as we loved it so much. Thank you so much to the owner Sarah who was helpful and patient in answering our questions and who did everything she could to ensure our stay was great.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

This house comes highly recommended.

Super property, in a great location, has recently been renovated to a very high standard. Family of 8 stayed here for the end of May Bank Holiday, 3 generations who thoroughly enjoyed the break and have already rebooked for next year. The property has all the conveniences you would expect and so much more.... home from home. Really cozy feel about the house, yet still felt spacious enough for 6 adults and 2 boys. The outside shower was very handy, coming off the beach, especially with the two lads.

With children's park across the road, the Pub and restaurant/take-away just down the hill (literally 2-3 minute walk) you couldn't go wrong. The local's are so friendly as-well, which just added to the whole experience.

Location

From the Owner

We know Coverack well, in fact I have been going there for family holidays all my life and have fond memories of happy summers there. My parents rented this property when I was a child and I took my first steps steadying myself on the granite birdbath in the garden. We bought the house in 2014 and then had it completely renovated. It is centrally located just minutes from the shops and the beach with the route of the South West Coast Path right outside the door.

Coverack is a picturesque fishing village in Cornwall. It is on the eastern coast of the Lizard peninsula, about nine miles south of Falmouth. The village retains much of its original charm and atmosphere. There is a large sandy, gently sloping beach, this is rocky in places which makes it ideal for exploring. The beach is great for swimming, windsurfing and fishing. Fishing boats and pleasure craft shelter in Coverack's small harbour - built out of the local green serpentine rock (some of the oldest geological strata known to exist).

The Manacles are located just off the Coverack coast. They are a group of dangerous rocks which have contributed to the sinking of many ships and are therefore now a favourite diving destination for divers exploring shipwrecks.

Coverack is the ideal holiday location for watersports such as snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing and sailing. It is also an excellent place to go hiking. The South West Coast footpath runs through Coverack passing through a wide variety of country and coastal scenery.
