It has been recently renovated to a high standard with oak and slate floors, underfloor heating and a Morso wood burning stove. There is a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and separate dryer.

Upstairs there are three double bedrooms with king size Hypnos beds and White Company linen. They all have stunning sea views. Also upstairs the fourth bedroom has two single beds. The master bedroom is ensuite with bath and separate shower. There is a family bathroom with bath and shower. In addition there is a modern downstairs shower room with basin and loo. All the bathrooms have underfloor heating and heated towel rails. Upstairs is carpeted.

The house sits on a mini-peninsular which gives it, with its four bay windows, a 200 degree sea view, from the sheltered sandy beach out to the distant horizon and around to the craggy Chynhalls Point.

The garden and patio are south facing with a sheltered sunny courtyard for breezy days. There is a hot water shower which is very useful for rinsing off after a day on the beach. Unusually for the centre of the village there is private off-road parking, for two medium size cars. Super fast fibre optic broad band

Coverack is a picturesque Cornish fishing village. Nestling around the stone built harbour are a pub and a restaurant both providing excellent food. There is a local village shop which also serves wonderful coffee and freshly baked pastries and a Roskilly's ice cream parlour. Running along the side of the house is a path which leads to the beach. Opposite the house there is a park with swings and a slide for children.

Pets, both David and I were bought up with dogs and so know what a big part they are play in family life. Unfortunately not everyone appreciates this and many people have allergies. It is very difficult to remove traces of pets from one stay to the next, therefore we have decided to make a no pets property.

About Sarah Orchard

My husband and I live in Kent but regularly stay at the property so we maintain it to the high standards we would expect. We love to escape to the hidden away location of the village and immerse ourselves in the uniqueness of the place.

Sarah Orchard purchased this house in 2014

Why Sarah Orchard chose Lizard Peninsula

We know Coverack well, in fact I have been going there for family holidays all my life and have fond memories of happy summers there. My parents rented this property when I was a child and I took my first steps steadying myself on the granite birdbath in the garden. We bought the house in 2014 and then had it completely renovated. It is centrally located just minutes from the shops and the beach with the route of the South West Coast Path right outside the door.

What makes this house unique

The house is very conveniently located. It is minutes away from the harbour, restaurants and village shop. It also has the added advantage of a dedicated parking area for 2 medium sized cars. There are stunning sea views stretching from the beach round to Chynhalls Point. The house has recently been renovated to a high standard throughout.

Coverack is a picturesque fishing village in Cornwall. It is on the eastern coast of the Lizard peninsula, about nine miles south of Falmouth. The village retains much of its original charm and atmosphere. There is a large sandy, gently sloping beach, this is rocky in places which makes it ideal for exploring. The beach is great for swimming, windsurfing and fishing. Fishing boats and pleasure craft shelter in Coverack's small harbour - built out of the local green serpentine rock (some of the oldest geological strata known to exist).

The Manacles are located just off the Coverack coast. They are a group of dangerous rocks which have contributed to the sinking of many ships and are therefore now a favourite diving destination for divers exploring shipwrecks.

Coverack is the ideal holiday location for watersports such as snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing and sailing. It is also an excellent place to go hiking. The South West Coast footpath runs through Coverack passing through a wide variety of country and coastal scenery.

Fantastic location and cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week with my family in this wonderful house. The large open rooms downstairs are a great communal area for everyone to relax and enjoy each others company. The views are stunning and the park nearby was perfect for my nephew. Some great trails to walk nearby and the beach is very close. Would recommend highly.

Just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I love Coverack and have been staying there for over forty years but our stay at Porthvean surpassed all of my expectations. The house is amazing and every detail has been given great thought - we wanted for nothing. Consequently everyone felt pampered and relaxed. A sign of a good holiday is when no one wants to go home and that was certainly the case this time! The position of the house is simply breath-taking and we were quite fortunate with the weather. Coverack had suffered badly from flooding the week before our visit and we were amazed at how quickly things were returning to normal. Thank you for a memorable holiday.

Wonderful property, stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week but would have loved a month! We arrived in the aftermath of the dreadful storm that caused so much damage to the village. The resilience of the locals was humbling to see as was the support offered by volunteers who came to the village to help with the clear up. Within a few days the village was welcoming visitors with open arms almost as if nothing had happened.

Porthvean is ideally situated, high up a hill in the centre of the village with stunning views out to sea from most rooms. It has a dedicated car parking space and a decent garden with picnic bench to the side with sea views, a great place for morning coffee watching the world go by. There are fantastic coastal walks from the front door and the beach no more than a ten minute walk away. Inside, the house is a modern delight, large, airy and open plan downstairs with four good -sized bedrooms upstairs. An ensuite and family bathroom upstairs was complemented by a downstairs shower and bathroom. Laundry was easy with a washing machine and drier in the utility room. A good selection of TV channels and fast wifi helped to pass the evenings. Furnished to a high standard and spotlessly clean throughout we immediately felt at home. The kitchen had every utensil we needed and the large fridge freezer allowed us to stock up on essentials.

Did I mention the views? As nature lovers we quickly set up a scope in one of the bedroom windows and watched an array of sea birds passing off the point. Dolphins were seen clearly on two days. Seals were regular visitors to the bay in front of the house. Shipping regularly passed by into and out of Falmouth. Step over the road and you enter a small park with seating that takes advantage of the views and sunshine.

All in all a wonderful house in a fantastic location and one we would love to return to.

Best quiet seaside retreat in Britain

  • 5 of 5

This house is superb. This was our second visit and everything was as sharp as the first time. The house refurbishment is really well thought through and the attention to detail is at the highest level, like black out curtains - essential in a house with big bright windows with stunning views. Although we did not use them as it was very warm for our stay, the heating system, especially underfloor in the bathroooms, makes this a place that I would consider out of season as well. Location of the house is also excellent - very close to the beach - so you can come back easily for lunch or other things if you want. But it is not right on the front. House also stood up to torrential flash storm that hit the village when we were there with no leaks. Coverack is a delightful place for children's holidays - sheltered beach, supervised watersports, rock pooling, hardly ever full beach, coastal wildflower walks. Decent butchers and restaurants easily accessible.
