About the property

Luxury Shepherds Hut Cornwall

Guests can enjoy luxury Cornish glamping at our eco retreat in Cornwall. Rural life, with a luxurious twist including our indoor heated swimming pool and, of course, ensuite bathrooms. Melody Farm Shepherds Huts provide the perfect getaway for people seeking peace, quiet and seclusion.

Our shepherds huts give you the chance to really get away from it all, to relax and unwind, to enjoy a slower pace of life and to enjoy beautiful surroundings. The perfect place to enjoy your holiday or short break in Cornwall.

Our shepherds huts are beautifully appointed and perfect for two. Think comfortable, luxury living with all that you need to enjoy time away from home.

Situated within the grounds of The Emerald, Melody Farm Shepherds Huts offer the best of all that Cornwall has to offer. Close to Falmouth and Truro, beaches and attractions, pubs and restaurants, yet set just far enough off the beaten track that you can feel like you’re in a different world.

Here at Melody Farm Shepherds Huts we pride ourselves on ensuring you have the best possible stay with us. Our huts are superbly appointed, our grounds offer you seclusion and our location in Cornwall is perfect for beaches, eating out and country walks. On top of all this, we offer you a very warm welcome.

We carefully considered the very best huts available to us and we've furnished them with luxury at the forefront of our minds. But what you can you expect when you come to stay in one of our shepherds huts? Luxury fittings, comfortable furnishings, ensuite bathrooms and everything you need for a relaxed holiday in Cornwall.

Our vision for the shepherds huts was to create luxurious, comfortable spaces, somewhere our guests could really sit back and relax. We've thought carefully about how best to furnish and equip our shepherds huts, so that guests can enjoy a luxury break with us. So rather than second guessing what you can expect, we thought it would be helpful to share with you here what this means.

All our huts have a double bed and an ensuite bathroom, though the layout of the huts varies. In Jasmine there is a double bed, with a small separate table for eating at.

The huts are well insulated. This means they remain cool in the summer and warm in the winter and any noise from heavy rain is cushioned. The bathrooms are heated and for the chillier days and nights the huts have a woodburning stove, which you are welcome to use at any time of year. We provide the logs you need for the duration of your stay.

Our shepherds huts feature beautifully designed kitchens. You’ll find a small hob, fridge and essentials for conjuring up meals for your stay, should you wish to (including pans, crockery, cutlery, teapot, cafetiere, glasses, scissors, grater, colander and the all important corkscrew!) If anything’s missing that you need to use, simply let us know and we will do our best to help.

The ensuite bathrooms in our huts are modern and meticulously clean. Each bathroom has a toilet, sink and powerful electric shower. Jasmine's ensuite is located just outside the front door of the hut. We provide you with all the towels you will need for your stay – bath mat, bath towels, hand towels and flannels. We also provide seperate towels for use at our swimming pool.

The huts are placed in our orchard, which is beautiful at all times of year. There’s plenty of space around each hut and our outdoor furniture means you get to enjoy the outdoors as much as you like. You’re welcome to borrow a BBQ for outdoor cooking whilst you stay with us.

Melody Farm Shepherds Huts are nestled within the grounds of The Emerald, a luxury eco retreat set in five acres of beautiful grounds. A stay with us means you get to enjoy everything The Emerald has to offer.

We’ve an indoor heated swimming pool, which our guests are welcome to use any time of day or night. The pool is heated using electricity we generate ourselves and is kept at a constant temperature of 32 degrees – wonderfully warm, even on a chilly winter’s day. Depending on your mood, you can change the lighting in the pool complex – enjoy a midnight swim in dark blue light or an early morning dip pepped up with pink lighting! With well appointed changing rooms and a cloakroom, and towels that we provide for poolside use, all you need to do is remember to pack your swimming costume!

For those wanting to keep on track with their physical activity regimes we’ve a small gym. Within the gym we’ve a couple of treadmills, a rowing machine, cross trainer, weights and boxing equipment. All of this is complimented by a Bose sound system and widescreen television, so you can work out when you like to the soundtrack or programme of your choice. Just don’t forget your trainers!

We’ve also got a tennis court here in our grounds, which you are welcome to use, as well as table tennis, croquet and cricket nets. We’ve all the equipment you need to enjoy using whichever of these facilities you choose.

If you prefer to simply enjoy your surroundings our grounds have plenty to offer you. We've a meadow area, a large pond with gazebo looking over it, an orchard and secret pathways wandering through the trees. When we developed The Emerald we planted more native species so we could encourage more wildlife to our site. These compliment some of the more tropical planting people often expect of Cornish gardens, meaning our grounds are beautiful and enjoyable all year round.

We like to offer all our guests a warm welcome at Melody Farm Shepherds Huts. We will meet you as you arrive and show you to your shepherds hut. We also like to give you a tour around the grounds at your convenience, so you know where everything is and how everything works - the swimming pool, gym and tennis court for example.

Once you’re settled in, we remain on hand to ensure your holiday is a pleasurable and comfortable one. We’re more than happy to help with suggestions about places to go and things to do, great places to eat and drink and where you can buy a loaf of bread or bottle of wine. We can also make bookings and reservations for you, if this is what you’d like.

On the other hand, if you’d rather be left in total peace and quiet then we’re happy to do this too. Your time with us is precious and we want you to enjoy it in whichever way you choose.

lovely well appointed shepherds hut

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as we were expecting, well laid out and beautifully clean. And we had everything we needed including scones and cream on arrival. We had plenty of utensils to cook a simple meal on the hob. Lovely to be outside we had a little table and easy chairs for us to use.

The bed was high but very comfortable.

We were not aware of the lane running a few metres behind the hut.

A lovely secluded place to unwind in especially when the sun is shining.

Homely and well equipped. In a beautiful quiet setting away from the crowds

  • 5 of 5

A high standard of accommodation in a delightfully quiet setting. We were impressed by how quiet the site is. The shepherds hut is tucked away in its own little garden area. The inside is cosy but well equipped with a lovely en suite bathroom. The grounds are beautiful to wander around with lots of interesting nooks. Use of the fabulous swimming pool is a bonus. Tim the owner is very welcoming and on hand if you need anything. Very impressed with the whole place and hope to return to explore more of the area.

Had a great break away, the Shepard's hut was fantastic stylishly done with a warm feeling. Fabulous surroundings gutted we didn't bring our swim wear for the pool, but welcomed by Tim the owner who we found very friendly and great advise to head down to St Ives for the day.

Looking forward to possibly booking later in the year when the log burner can be put to use.

P.s scones with jam were hard to beat.

About Tim & Brigitte Kemp

Husband & wife team Tim & Brigitte Kemp developed The Emerald with a plan to create an environmentally friendly, high end self-catering holiday haven to rival luxury hotels, yet with the freedom & privacy that self-catering allows. They've now expanded to develop Melody Farm Shepherds Huts, with the aim of providing the very best luxury Cornish glamping experience possible.

Tim previously owned his own business in the oil industry & at 50 decided to live out his lifelong dream of opening luxury eco friendly self-catering accommodation in Cornwall. The Emerald opened in 2013. In 2015, Tim, wife Brigitte & brother Simon decided to develop things further & Melody Farm Shepherds Huts was born.

Along with Brigitte, Tim has worked hard to create a secluded retreat, focusing on accessibility & privacy. He is very proud to show guests around the luxury eco holiday retreat & is enjoying the reaction of guests when they first see the huts.

Brigitte was previously a special needs teacher & is also a talented chef with a passion for creating delicious dishes, recently completing a professional chef diploma. Alongside this she shares Tim's eco-friendly outlook. Brigitte enjoyed creating the interior look of the shepherds huts, using her eye for interior design to make them look visually attractive, as well as comfortable & luxurious.

Simon is a Chartered Builder & Managing Director of British Stairways Limited, suppliers of timber staircases. Having helped with different roles at The Emerald, Simon was keen to be more involved & the development of Melody Farm Shepherds Huts was the perfect opportunity for this. As plans for the huts evolved Simon investigated construction methods, types & merits involved with the many different shepherds hut designs available. He helped source local suppliers & materials necessary to build & supply them, in an ecofriendly way.

Simon is often found in Cornwall, enjoying the West Country & welcoming guests as they arrive on holiday.

Tim & Brigitte Kemp purchased this caravan in 2010

Here at Melody Farm Shepherds Huts we offer luxury Cornish glamping in a beautiful, ecofriendly, luxurious location. The shepherds huts are hidden away in five gorgeous acres of landscaped grounds and guests can enjoy our swimming pool and other facilities. You might choose to spend your entire holiday here, without feeling the need to leave the comfort of what we offer, but if you do want to head out and explore we are well located and easy to find, situated not far from the A39 between Falmouth and Truro.

We offer our guests a stunning rural retreat with wonderful facilities, but we are also close to so many of the wonderful things that attract people to Cornwall. Beaches on both the North and South Coast are a short drive away, Falmouth with it’s stunning harbour is close by, as is the city of Truro. A number of fabulous pubs are within walking distance or a few minutes drive.

So whether you want to escape from it all and do nothing but enjoy peace, quiet and beautiful surroundings or if you want to be out and about enjoying beaches, great food and Cornwall’s attractions, Melody Farm Shepherds Huts is the perfect place to stay. Find out more about some of our favourite places and things to do below:

Cornwall's Gardens

Thanks to a mild climate, plants and flowers thrive in Cornwall, so much so that visiting gardens is something that many of our guests love to do. Melody Farm Shepherds Huts has a number of gardens not far from it doorstep. A few of our favourites include Trelissick Garden (just a short drive away), Trebah Garden and Glendurgan Gardens.

Food and Drink

From long lazy lunches to quick bites to eat, Michelin star dishes to freshly prepared fish and chips, it’s all on the menu not too far from Melody Farm Shepherds Huts. Cornwall is famous for it’s freshly sourced food and a holiday with us means you are well situated to take advantage of places to eat on both the North and the South Coasts, as well as in some of the gems in our villages and towns across the County. There are so many places to choose to eat and drink not far from Melody Farm Shepherds Huts that it's hard to highlight our favourites but we try on our website to pick out a few!

Cornwall is famous for it's beaches - vast expanses of sand, rugged coastlines, sheltered coves and pretty harbours. We are lucky to be close to both the North and South coasts of Cornwall, meaning our guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing which beach to visit.

Holiday Activities

Cornwall has plenty to offer it's visitors. Here are just a few ideas of things you can do when you stay with us.

The Cornish Way multi-use trail snakes around Cornwall touching almost every corner of the county but one of its most spectacular trails, the Coast to Coast trail, is just a stones throw from Melody Farm Shepherds Huts.

You only have to step out of your shepherds hut to find yourself amongst rolling fields and lush countryside criss-crossed with public footpaths. And just a short drive away are some of Cornwall’s most scenic walks, along lush river estuaries and scenic coastal paths. For woodland walks head to Trelissick Garden where the steep valley is covered by a canopy of trees set to a stunning water backdrop or pass through Truro to Idless with its beautiful mixed woodland. For coastal views choose a stretch of the South West Coast Path which weaves its way around Cornwall for some 300 miles.

True to Cornwall’s unique and independent character, the Cornish shopping scene is wonderfully individual. Town centres are a tapestry of boutique shops, small galleries and specialist retailers interwoven with coffee shops, delis and pavement cafes. In Falmouth glimpses of harbour waters and estuary views can be stolen from the small alleyways dotted through the town centre, while shop windows reveal the town’s artistic flair. For chic city style head to Truro where the magnificent spires of the Cathedral tower over the bustling streets lined with shops resplendent in Georgian architecture.

Cornwall's greens are famed for spectacular views and luckily for us, Melody Farm Shepherds Huts has three quality courses on its doorstep and is within easy driving distance of the county’s elite. To tee off on a championship course take your pick from St Enodoc and Trevose on the North coast, and St Mellion in the south east of the county where excellence comes assured.
