Devon Hills is a 5* holiday village situated between the coast of Torbay and the historic market town of Totnes. The site nestles in 60 acres of tranquil countryside and our lodge has a prime, corner position with its own parking space. Decking wraps around three sides from which you can enjoy day long sun. This is an ideal location from which to explore the beautiful Devon countryside from the numerous blue flag beaches to the tiny picturesque hamlets. There is so much to enjoy right here, on your doorstep, and our lodge is the perfect home from home in which to return to after your day of sightseeing. The decking leads around to the front door and into the open plan living accommodation with vaulted ceiling and French doors opening onto the terrace. A dining table seats four and the lounge has two comfortable sofas and an armchair. There is a wall mounted television and a contemporary flame effect wall mounted electric fire. Wi Fi is available. The kitchen is enclosed by a breakfast bar with inset hob and electric fan oven. two stools to the bar make this a sociable area from which to watch the chef at work. Also provided is a dishwasher, large fridge freezer, washing machine and microwave along with the usual small appliances such as a toaster and kettle. A small hallway takes you into the two bedrooms. One with double bed and the other with twin single beds. From the main bedroom is the en suite shower room with washbasin and toilet and alongside a second door leads into the walk in wardrobe. The main bathroom has a bath, toilet and washbasin. There are large mirrors in both bedrooms and bathrooms. For winter breaks the lodge has gas central heating and double glazing to ensure that you are warm and cosy on even the coldest of days. The holiday village of Devon Hills is a five star rated site and has a leisure complex boasting an indoor pool with children's pool, a sauna and a steam room. The Gym at Devon Hills has a reputation for being one of the best in the area with first class equipment and personal training if required. Outside you can try archery, tennis and table tennis and there is a small but adequate play area for children. The Blagdon Inn is a short walk away and offers good food and local beers along with wines, spirits and a warm welcome. An ideal solution for those that enjoy a drink without the drive home.

The site itself has a very tranquil atmosphere without the noisy attractions that can disrupt a stay on some of the more commercial sites. It makes a perfect base from which to acquaint yourself with the area. whether walking, sailing, climbing or window shopping, Everything that you could possibly want can be found within a twenty mile radius of Devon Hills. The two nearest cities of Plymouth and Exeter both offer different interests with Plymouth having the famous Barbican and Exeter with its cathedral and canals. The National park of Dartmoor is nearby with its notorious ten tors and Dartmoor ponies and the South Hams boasts unspoilt hamlets and villages such as the village of Stoke Gabriel with its Mill pond, Slapton sands and the adjacent beaches and the sailing centre of salcombe. There is so much to see and so many beautiful places to enjoy whatever the weather. For the children you are just two miles from Paignton zoo and the beaches and pier. In Torquay you can visit Living coasts to watch the penguins and seals performing and people watch from one of the continental style cafes along the harbour.

We love living in Devon and are happy to help an advise should you wish to learn more about the area and we hope that you will choose our delightful lodge as your home from home whether it be for a short break or a long term stay.

Our lodge and decked area are strictly non smoking and unfortunately we do not allow pets. Children over five are welcome and the lodge is equipped for a maximum of four guests.

Perfect!!!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting relatives in Totnes, Paignton and Newton Abbott and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect base. It was close to everywhere we needed to go and it felt like a proper holiday. The lodge was beautiful and very spacious, the photos just do not do it justice. We have already recommended it to family and friends and we will definitely be staying here again. I would also like to add that I don't know what washing powder you use, but the towels and bedding smelt amazing!!! Hope to be back soon, Amanda Taylor 😊

stunning accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

We had four nights at the lodge and it wasn't enough, it was lovely. Absolutely stunning inside and everything you need. It was situated in a beautiful spot that was not far from places to visit. In my opinion if you want a quality holiday this is the place to go.

We took our elderly mother for a birthday getaway and wanted relaxed, clean accessible accommodation. Everything was truly perfect. Excellent quality furniture and equipment. Very clean. Very new. Very lovely. Can highly recommend this accommodation and the owners gave very clear instructions prior to arrival. Well located near Paignton. Close to the lovely Totnes, beautiful Brixham and gorgeous Dartmouth. Fabulous. Thanks.

just wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this lodge was perfectly accounted for. The owners offered to provide a few basic groceries for the day of our arrival as we were arriving late in the evening. They also arranged a bed guard for our little daughter so she could sleep in a large bed without the risk of falling out at night. The lodge was very clean and everything a small family needs for a weeks stay was there. We will definately come here again and recommend it to anyone who is interested.

Location

From the Owner

We chose to site our lodge on this particular pitch due to its south facing aspect and open surroundings. We are not directly overlooked by other lodges and have very little passing traffic thus making your stay a peaceful one. Trees and shrubs nearby bring many different birds and wild animals and a woodpecker is a regular visitor.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Exeter at 30 Miles Nearest Barpub : The Blagdon Inn at 200 Metres Nearest Ferry : Kingswear to Dartmouth. at 8 Miles Nearest Golf : Churston Golf club at 3 Miles Nearest Train : Totnes at 3.5 Miles Nearest Motorway : M5 Exeter at 20 Miles Nearest Restaurant : The Blagdon Inn at 200 Metres Nearest Beach : Paignton at 2.5 Miles Car: not necessary

In the surrounding area many activities can be enjoyed such as fishing at the nearby trout farm, Golf at Dartmouth, Churston or Dainton and cycling on the numerous cycle paths that have been created throughout south Devon.

Visit the historical fishing town of Brixham and take a ferry across to Torquay or around the coast to Dartmouth for a pleasant day out or maybe you would prefer to travel by steam train. The Kingswear to Dartmouth line and Buckfast to Totnes are both very popular and are a must for every railway enthusiast. At Buckfast is the butterfly and otter sanctuary as well as the beautiful abbey.

Stoke Gabriel is eight minutes away and is renowned for crab fisjing in the millpool and the weir. Canoes can also be hired here for a trip along the river. For a river trip of a different kind you can take the ferry from Dartmouth up to Totnes and then catch the open top bus to return to the lodge.

The National Trust properties of Coleton Fishacre, Agatha Christies Greenway home, Compton castle and Bradley manor are all just a few miles away.

The nature reserve at Berry Head in Brixham has amazing views across the bay and the working lighthouse and old fortifications are of great interest. There is a good café on the head which is a welcome bonus for refuelling after your costal walk.

Dartington Hall with the amphitheatre and gardens make a very pleasant excursion and the many towns such as Totnes, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Dartmouth and Ashburton all offer a wide selection of individual shops.
