An Excellent House for a get together.

  • 5 of 5

The house is generously proportioned with large rooms and a fabulously well equipped kitchen. I was looking for a house that we could all meet up at and people could could come and go throughout the weekend. This house had something for everyone, somewhere to chill, somewhere to party and somewhere to reflect. Perfect! I am sure we will return in the future.

Fantastic luxury propery - homely, warm & friendly

  • 5 of 5

There were 10 adults in our party, the property was great, the kitchen diner is the real star, along with the hot tub and sauna - very luxurious and relaxing. The property is well located - across the road is a pub and the main shopping area is a two minute walk. Talkin tarn country park is a few minutes drive away and is well worth a visit. Carlisle is only 10 miles away. Plenty to do and see. Because the house is set back from the main road and is fenced it feels remote enough to relax and get away from it all - whilst being a stones throw away from all the convenience when needed. The owners could not have been more helpful and friendly - extremely responsive and happy to help. Would definitely recommend and will be planning to visit again - but will bring the kids next time as they'd love the play park in the garden.

Owner's Response: Hi Marie, Thanks for sharing how your trip went, it really is great to hear from you. Now you have seen how safe and secure the house is and how you can have the best of both worlds with everything on your doorstep and yet maintaining a sense of seclusion, we look forward to you bringing the kids next time. Ours love the outdoor climbing frame and space to run around. It sounds like you all managed to settle in nicely and enjoy your weekend and we look forward to welcoming you all back soon for some more of the same. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! exceeded our expectations!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a surprise birthday weekend for 9 adults and 4 children and the owner, David Jackson, couldn't have been more helpful in attending to our reqirements. The house itself is beautiful with a stunning kitchen/dining area for the adults in the evening. We had 13 of us in this area for long periods and there was ample space for cooking while everyone was having fun with the kids. The kids also played in either of the two separate rooms just off the kitchen and were kept entertained with supplied toys, TV and dvds. Our bedroom was perfect for my family of four, plenty of room, very clean and well appointed, the en-suite bathroom was spacious with a great shower. All the rooms were spacious and easily accomodated 13 of us.

The town itself is ideal for us to wander through wity lovely pubs/cafes to visit. Overall an excellent couple of days, no negatives at all.

I'll definately be back at some point, it's the perfect property and location for large numbers of all ages.

AMAZING HOUSE

  • 4 of 5

I have just come back from staying at this house with 9 of my family and friends. The house was really lovely, it had everything we could have asked for. The beds were super comfortable and the hot tub and sauna just gave the house that little edge over any others we were looking at.

Dressing gowns, soft towels, flip flops, games, beautiful smelling body wash and shampoos, and any type of kitchen utensil you could ever need were all in the house which made our stay so much more comfortable.

David was really easy to speak with on the run up to the booking and although we were double booked for our original dates, David quickly rectified this. He also left a welcome gift of prosecco and chocolates which were extremely appreciated by the majority of us.

Whilst staying at the house we went for a walk around the talking tarn which was really beautiful. Its about a 15- 20 min walk from the house its self and has a small coffee shop and ice cream parlor. (I had the apple crumble ice cream). We also went out for dinner at the Bistro which is about 3 doors down from the house. The food is lovely there, I would 100% recommend it. I had scallops and a few of my friends had the lamb shank, even the vegetarians in the group were well catered for. The service there was great and we were kept on a constant supply of wine (which is always a positive in my mind).

My only grumble with this house would be the WIFI. It was very intermittent and not very strong.

Overall this house it amazing. Dave is amazing and I would definitely like to come and stay here again. This house made our birthday weekend. Thanks so much!!!

Owner's Response: Hi Danielle, Well it certainly sounds like you all had an amazing time here on your recent trip to Brampton. I'm really glad that you managed to pop to Talkin Tarn, it is one of our favourite places to go with kids and dogs and so close to The Sycamore Gap. Thanks for recommending Bistro 34. As Brampton has a fair few places to eat, its great for our guests to hear first hand just how amazing some of our local restaurants are without having to take our word for it. We hope we get the chance to welcome you all back soon and glad that the birthday celebrations went well. Dave & Fi.

Excellent House

  • 5 of 5

I think everything has been said before in previous reviews! A lovely, lovely house. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious with fabulous bedding. The owner Dave was very accommodating in setting up z beds etc prior to our arrival and was a pleasure to deal with. The house is set right in the heart of Brampton so all the amenities are to hand which was great. We took a lovely walk one day to Lanecost Priory from the house which we would have repeated had the weather been a bit kinder! Would also recommend the Roman Museum and Vindolanda and walking some of the wall. The list goes on loads of great stuff to do in this area and some lovely places to eat (Golden Fleece, The Howard Arms and the Bistro in Brampton) A great place to take a holiday and a fabulous house to do it in. Five stars from us *****

Owner's Response: Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed your trip to Brampton. It's fabulous to hear that real guests have tried some trips and had a great time. Brampton is the perfect destination for discovering Hadrian's wall, a stone's throw from the Lake district and it really has so much to offer. We really appreciate the time you took to write us your review and hope that with your next trip we can order you some sunshine. Kindest Regards, Fiona & Dave

Annual family get together

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from five nights at the White House, Brampton for our annual family get together. We were thirteen in number plus one small dog and we all had a great time. The house is wonderful, from the beautifully decorated bedrooms to the "to die for" kitchen which has every imaginable piece of equipment you could think of. We enjoyed all the facilities available. The hot tub was a great hit, the heated patio area was a focus for our evening get togethers and the garden area was the perfect setting for the boys football matches and the little ones Sports Day. We appreciated the fact that the house was central to the village and the electric gates meant that we had no worries about letting the children and Bertie the dog run around in complete safety. We were met by Dave on arrival and he gave us a tour of the property and then checked with us later in our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. This property really does deserve every praise showered on it. Here's to our next visit.

Owner's Response: Hi Mary, It really sounds like you had an amazing family get together this year and we are glad that The Sycamore Gap had all the space and comfort tat you needed. With 3 little ones and animals ourselves, safety was top of our list when designing the house and gardens. To have peace of mind, knowing they are secure is priceless. I'm also glad you got to make the most of the heated patio area. There is nothing nicer than coming home after a nice walk, slipping into the hot tub with a little glass of something and having a good natter with the family. There are not many places you can do that 'al fresco' at this time of year! We really look forward to welcoming you all back soon and trust that you all have a very Merry Christmas. Dave & Fi

Facilities

From the Owner

The property's main feature is it's central position in the town. Everything is a stones throw away and yet inside you are a world away from outside. There are many original period features with stunning fireplaces and a magnificent oak ceiling adorns much of the ground floor. The garden can also be claimed as amazing. the children have huge areas to run around and electric automated gates keep them secure from the outside world. The hot tub and sauna and enclosed private heated courtyard which are new additions must be seen to be appreciated.
