About Mike and Cheryl Cran

We are Mike and Cheryl Cran who own the house. We lived in Edinburgh when we were first married but left over 20 years ago because of our jobs.

We love Edinburgh and fell in love with this house as soon as we saw the stunning views.

We use it whenever we can between short term lets and trust you will enjoy its beautiful location in the heart of the city and all that Edinburgh has to offer as much as we do every time we visit.

We live 400 miles away and so have an Edinburgh host, Angela.

Our profile photo was taken in July 2015, just after we moved into the house and staying in Edinburgh while supporting our daughter playing Lacrosse for Scotland in the Under 19s Lacrosse World Championships.

The views from a townhouse set in the city are stunning - virtually rural - and yet you are only 6-7 bus stops or a 15 minute walk from the city centre and all that Edinburgh has to offer as a capital city.

What makes this house unique

A small south facing garden with Holyrood Park over the garden wall provides stunning views, an excellent walking / exercise area and without the normal city noise.

The efficiency of a modern house providing warmth and efficient showers with copious hot water.

A garage and second parking space are invaluable in a capital city centre property.

All that a capital city centre offers close at hand but with the benefit of a near "rural" setting.

Everything you would hope it to be!

This is an incredibly spacious, well equipped, beautifully presented house, in an amazing location. We were two families with teenage children and this lovely home suited our needs perfectly. So much space, and bathrooms [who really wants to share with teenage boys?], and the wonderful top living area where the kids disappeared to play games and watch TV, leaving the adults to relax in the cosy downstairs living room with a glass of wine. Well equipped kitchen with a dining table big enough for 8. Perfectly located, we walked around the park and up Arthur's seat, and strolled into town both days in about twenty minutes. Can't recommend highly enough, we're considering moving in permanently!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted the house worked so well for your two generations. The two living rooms and TVs are a great help in preventing remote control wars. Thank you for leaving the house in such a clean condition - especially with the infamous teenage boys you mention! You are very welcome to come and stay gain - but you have competition with moving in permanently as we enjoy time in the house ourselves!

We were very happy

As veteran travelers, we four golfers enjoyed this comfortable, very well furnished clean home, more than adequate for our brief stay. Off street parking was very convenient and the view of the park and mountain was interesting, Angela and Mike were extremely helpful and cooperative, overall an A - Plus experience.

Spacious - well equipped - well located - homely - great beds and bedding - lots of en suites !!

It was my son's wedding weekend and Michael stayed here with his brother and 2 groomsmen and the 3 girls as we stayed a few doors down the road ! Perfect house for adults and we had 8 people for supper on the Saturday night ! Makes a change to actually have all the accoutrements to be able to self cater ! Great for parking and a huge bottle recycling facility outside😉 Thanks Mike and Cheryl for hosting our wonderful weekend in Edinburgh!

A perfect house in a perfect location

This is a lovely roomy house. All areas are beautifully appointed and tastefully furnished. Very comfortable beds with quality linen. Nice to find a kitchen with all essentials available. The wine and shortbread provided a nice welcome to back up the careful tour of the property by Angela on arrival. She was also responsive to my texts, which helped convey the overall attention to detail. The location and attendant views were perfect. Great provision of information about the flat and tourist attractions. The books about Edinburgh and Scotland were thoughtfully provided. The binoculars on the top floor were another good touch. All in all this is a property I would recommend to friends. I only have good to say about it. Many thanks for enhancing a lovely stay in the city.

Excellent property in a great location

The property is one of the best rentals we have stayed in, it was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The correspondence from the owners was first class and extremely informative. The house was in a great location and perfect for 7 friends wanting a special New Year experience. Fabulous....
