About Mike and Cheryl Cran

We are Mike and Cheryl Cran who own the house. We lived in Edinburgh when we were first married but left over 20 years ago because of our jobs.

We love Edinburgh and fell in love with this house as soon as we saw the stunning views.

We use it whenever we can between short term lets and trust you will enjoy its beautiful location in the heart of the city and all that Edinburgh has to offer as much as we do every time we visit.

We live 400 miles away and so have an Edinburgh host, Angela.

Our profile photo was taken in July 2015, just after we moved into the house and staying in Edinburgh while supporting our daughter playing Lacrosse for Scotland in the Under 19s Lacrosse World Championships.

Mike and Cheryl Cran purchased this house in 2015

Why Mike and Cheryl Cran chose Edinburgh and Lothians

The views from a townhouse set in the city are stunning - virtually rural - and yet you are only 6-7 bus stops or a 15 minute walk from the city centre and all that Edinburgh has to offer as a capital city.

What makes this house unique

A small south facing garden with Holyrood Park over the garden wall provides stunning views, an excellent walking / exercise area and without the normal city noise.

The efficiency of a modern house providing warmth and efficient showers with copious hot water.

A garage and second parking space are invaluable in a capital city centre property.

All that a capital city centre offers close at hand but with the benefit of a near "rural" setting.

Great location and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

The accommodations and location of this home were everything that we needed for our group of 7 adults. The furnishings and beds were top-notch and very comfortable and it is within walking distance of everything along the Royal Mile and right next to the wonderful Holyrood Park. The owner, Mike, was easy to work with and provided good communication. We had an excellent time and only wished we could have stayed longer!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and it was the perfect location for us . Owner Mike was a joy to deal with and made us feel very welcome . It really felt like a home from home and there wasn't anything to fault . Highly recommend a trip to Holyrood Palace and the cafe there , the best chocolate brownies ever ! . All in all a fabulous property with very helpful owners .

Location, Location, Location!

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of four adults and two children staying for a few days in the half term holidays. We slept down stairs so our grandchildren could be on the same floor as their parents.

My daughter and her husband loved their rooms with the spectacular view. My 13 year old granddaughter thought having an ensuite to herself was really special and our 7 year old grandson just loved what he called his personal bathroom.

Our room downstairs was also ensuite which is always great. I would have liked a mirror close the the plug on the wall so I could dry my hair properly and a bit more shelving in the bathroom for our or I should say my products! but nothing to make an issue of.

From the house you can walk through the park, past Holyrood House and then carry on up to the royal mile, this was our favourite route into the city. We never used our car once on holiday everything from City centre, to supermarkets were all within walking distance.

It could be a squash in the lounge as there is only seating for four people but after our granddaughter's evening run up Sailsbury Craig and back, Isobel would retire to her room to read, mainly her iphone, I think.

The house was great, the area brilliant and a place to park our cars as well, the house and location of it ... great.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted that your grandchildren enjoyed their own shower en-suite and 'personal bathroom'. Clearly you made good use of the house location by walking everywhere and not using your car. I hope you tackled Arthur's Seat as well as Salisbury Crags! Hopefully you didn't find the sitting room seating too much of an issue. Most multi-generation parties are delighted there are two sitting rooms and TVs helping to prevent "remote control wars" for who watches what programme! We hope you will stay with us again when you next visit Edinburgh.

Wonderful modern home

  • 5 of 5

I was hugely pleased with our stay. I was worried that it would be too far from the centre, but it's only a shortish walk to the old town - and the quality of the house and its views more than make up for it. The house is well equipped, and the owners were very helpful.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house at the base of Arthur's Seat in a nice neighborhood. Walking distance to the Royal Mile, shopping and groceries. Be advised that the laundry dryer is in the garage (this was a point of confusion for some in our party). The owners, Mike and Cheryl, were very quick to respond to any questions/concerns. Would certainly stay here again and recommend to anyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay after your delayed arrival with flights and that you found the house well located and walkable to much of the city. It clearly states in the Guest Information folder and in the Hospitality Content App that the tumble drier is in the garage so hopefully it didn't take you too long to discover it! Thank you for staying in our house and we hope you will stay with us again when next planning an Edinburgh trip.

A wonderful place to stay, cosy, clean and ideally located

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for our group, with wonderful views, a large kitchen, several cosy rooms and salon, easy access to the city center, with a taste of country side. The owners are very well organised to facilitate the stay. A great place to enjoy a great city.
