About Mike and Cheryl Cran

We are Mike and Cheryl Cran who own the house. We lived in Edinburgh when we were first married but left over 20 years ago because of our jobs.

We love Edinburgh and fell in love with this house as soon as we saw the stunning views.

We use it whenever we can between short term lets and trust you will enjoy its beautiful location in the heart of the city and all that Edinburgh has to offer as much as we do every time we visit.

We live 400 miles away and so have an Edinburgh host, Angela.

Our profile photo was taken in July 2015, just after we moved into the house and staying in Edinburgh while supporting our daughter playing Lacrosse for Scotland in the Under 19s Lacrosse World Championships.

Mike and Cheryl Cran purchased this house in 2015

Why Mike and Cheryl Cran chose Edinburgh

The views from a townhouse set in the city are stunning - virtually rural - and yet you are only 6-7 bus stops or a 15 minute walk from the city centre and all that Edinburgh has to offer as a capital city.

What makes this house unique

A small south facing garden with Holyrood Park over the garden wall provides stunning views, an excellent walking / exercise area and without the normal city noise.

The efficiency of a modern house providing warmth and efficient showers with copious hot water.

A garage and second parking space are invaluable in a capital city centre property.

All that a capital city centre offers close at hand but with the benefit of a near "rural" setting.

Great location and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

The accommodations and location of this home were everything that we needed for our group of 7 adults. The furnishings and beds were top-notch and very comfortable and it is within walking distance of everything along the Royal Mile and right next to the wonderful Holyrood Park. The owner, Mike, was easy to work with and provided good communication. We had an excellent time and only wished we could have stayed longer!

Lovely modern town house in stunning location

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this lovely modern town house and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The house is located on the edge of Holyrood Park with great views across the park to Salisbury Crags and Arthur’s Seat. On our first stay we walked up to Arthur’s Seat and then on to the coast at Portobello - amazing to think you have all this wonderful scenery on the edge of a major city. This time the weather wasn’t so good for climbing Arthur’s Seat so we settled instead for a morning walk through Holyrood Park and then along the Royal Mile to the main centre of Edinburgh. The house itself is very comfortable and well equipped and a perfect base to come home to at the end of the day. We loved having the use of the well equipped kitchen for when we wanted to eat at home and then relaxing in the lounge with its great views. We very much enjoyed our trips to the Botanical Gardens and then along the Leith Walkway to Dean Village. We also enjoyed going up Carlton Hill with its great views of the city and coast. The owner Mike was very helpful throughout the booking process and during our stay, particularly in sorting out a glitch with the boiler. A highly recommended place to stay and we hope to come back again in the future.

The most impressive 2 for 1 located property

  • 5 of 5

The location was absolutely amazing. The view at the rear could be in the highlands with the magnificent Arthurs Seat and the adjoining Craggs. Yet only a stroll away from Holyrood Palace and bustling Royal Mile. The property itself was spotless, spacious and great place to simply relax or work. Beautiful garden too. We will look forward to our next visit back again. Graham & Sheila McCormack

Stunning views, really great location

  • 5 of 5

This was a really convenient location literally a few minutes walk from the bottom of the Royal Mile so we could easily walk into central Edinburgh or alternatively take the bus for a few stops. The house itself is huge and very comfortably furnished with beautiful views across the park to Arthur's seat from every room. Would love to stay again !!

Very comfortable house splendidly equipped with everything you could possibly want... and more

  • 5 of 5

We were in Edinburgh for a niece's wedding and found the house at Spring Gardens the perfect base for our rushing about. It's level of comfort is amazing and it is equipped with every conceivable thing you could want. The outlook is beautiful too. Just wish we'd had longer to explore Edinburgh... there will have to be a 'next time'.
