About Mike and Cheryl Cran

We are Mike and Cheryl Cran who own the house. We lived in Edinburgh when we were first married but left over 20 years ago because of our jobs.

We love Edinburgh and fell in love with this house as soon as we saw the stunning views.

We use it whenever we can between short term lets and trust you will enjoy its beautiful location in the heart of the city and all that Edinburgh has to offer as much as we do every time we visit.

We live 400 miles away and so have an Edinburgh host, Angela.

Our profile photo was taken in July 2015, just after we moved into the house and staying in Edinburgh while supporting our daughter playing Lacrosse for Scotland in the Under 19s Lacrosse World Championships.

Mike and Cheryl Cran purchased this house in 2015

Why Mike and Cheryl Cran chose Edinburgh and Lothians

The views from a townhouse set in the city are stunning - virtually rural - and yet you are only 6-7 bus stops or a 15 minute walk from the city centre and all that Edinburgh has to offer as a capital city.

What makes this house unique

A small south facing garden with Holyrood Park over the garden wall provides stunning views, an excellent walking / exercise area and without the normal city noise.

The efficiency of a modern house providing warmth and efficient showers with copious hot water.

A garage and second parking space are invaluable in a capital city centre property.

All that a capital city centre offers close at hand but with the benefit of a near "rural" setting.

Great location and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

The accommodations and location of this home were everything that we needed for our group of 7 adults. The furnishings and beds were top-notch and very comfortable and it is within walking distance of everything along the Royal Mile and right next to the wonderful Holyrood Park. The owner, Mike, was easy to work with and provided good communication. We had an excellent time and only wished we could have stayed longer!

Tattoo visit to Edinburgh

  • 5 of 5

Our trip to Edinburgh was to see the tattoo, the fringe, and sightseeing. Our stay at the town house was very comfortable and had all the things you needed, very clean, modern, comfortable beds. The view from the back looked out over Holyrood park to Arthur's seat. The house was within walking distance of the royal mile and not far from the shopping mall. Mike the owner came across as a very pleasant gentleman when I spoke to him on the telephone.and Angela who meet us at the house was very pleasant and helpful. As a family group we would stay here again

Delightful.

  • 5 of 5

A lovely house in a great location. Very quiet but only a 25 minute walk to the heart of Edinburgh. Views of the crags from bedroom especially lovely to wake up to each morning. Would absolutely recommend and we are already planning our next trip.

Modern and spacious, with views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 7 enjoyed our stay. We had plenty of room to spread out and have privacy. The kitchen was wet outfitted and we used it quite a lot. We used the attic family room as a 5th bedroom for our 12 year old and that worked well. All the bathroom amenities were modern and functional. The wifi worked consistently and was fast! The views over Holyrood Park were fabulous and also made it convenient for quiet morning walks in the park. The walk into town for restaurants was about 20 minutes walking, or about 10 minutes walk to the nearest major bus stop and supermarket. Be aware the house includes 3 sets of stairs, which was fine for us. There is a bed/bath on the first floor for those who want to avoid stairs, but the living areas are 2 sets of stairs up from there. There is space for parking 1 vehicle in front of the garage (only the smallest of cars could fit inside the garage). We had two vehicles and had a terrible time finding street parking. It's free, but just not available at certain times of day. Overall an excellent stay and we would be happy to visit again should be lucky enough to find ourselves in Edinburgh.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your detailed review. We are pleased you enjoyed your visit to Edinburgh and were comfortable in our house. It seems you made good use of walking the city centre and Holyrood Park. I trust the three floors didn't take you by surprise as the house layout is detailed in our property profile. We are glad you appreciated the great views into Holyrood Park which make the climb to the living rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors worthwhile. We have a BMW 5 Series Estate which is only four inches too long for the garage. Our neighbour parks his VW Passat in his identical garage so it will take an average sized car. Like all capital cities, the on-street parking can be a challenge at busy times of the day - but is free when you find a space! Having secured a space it is best not to move the car until departure as a car in the city centre is a burden best overcome by walking or using the excellent bus service.
