Overview

Property

Updated: 30-Nov-2016
2 bed villa, newly refurbished to a high standard, on the preferred South Finger

The Villa is situated on the more favourable South Finger at Jolly Harbour, just a few minutes walk to the most beautiful, long white sandy beach where water sports are offered including water skiing, water bicycles and jet skis. On the beach is Castaways, restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a cocktail whilst watching the sunset.

The property is laid out over two floors and is fully air conditioned throughout, with ceiling fans in all rooms, WIFI and fly screens. On the ground floor is an open plan, fully equipped kitchen, including washing machine, a dining area with seating for 4 and a large comfortable lounge area with cable TV and DVD player. There is also a cloakroom. The living area leads to a partially covered patio with table and chairs with BBQ. Upstairs are two large, airy bedrooms. The master has a king size bed and access to a balcony with outside seating to enjoy morning coffee or evening cocktails. The second bedroom has twin beds. Both bedrooms share a large bathroom with double sized shower, vanity unit and toilet.

Jolly Harbour is a gated community with 24 hour security, it offers every amenity, a large well stocked supermarket (selling products from Waitrose!), numerous bars and restaurants, banks, beauty salon, car hire and golf cart rental. There is also a large olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts and an 18 hole golf course.

About the Owner

We have been visiting Antigua for 25 years as we have family on the island, we love our time spent in Jolly Harbour and return at least twice a year, with friends and with family.

We have lived in the New Forest area for the last 30 years where we have brought up our family.

Lovely villa on a nice complex

  • 5 of 5

The villa is beautiful, well maintained and very convenient for the beech which is only 2 minutes away. Jolly harbour is a nice gated complex with a super market, pharmacy, car hire, and many restaurants to choose from, though our favourite was Miracles which is just off the complex, an easy 5 minute walk from the main gate. Getting around Antigua from here is very easy, with a bus stop by the main gate, and a plentiful supply of buses to St Johns, from where you can get another bus to other parts of the island, a good way to see the island and interact with local people who where all friendly. Nelsons dockyard and Stingray city are well worth a visit, as are the many various beeches and also English harbour. We hired a golf cart to get around the complex, as the walk to to shops and restaurants on the complex is quite far and taxing in the heat. Overall we had a great stay with fantastic weather in our second week, as it rained every day in the first week!! Jenny kept in regular contact and was a mine of information on local and island events, and was checking to see if we had any issues with villa. She also arranged our taxi return to the airport. Randy and Mary are also a mine of information, and we hired our golf cart and arranged our trip to Stingray city through them. All in all, a nice relaxing holiday, and I would recommend this villa to anyone wanting to stay in Jolly Harbour.

Excellent stay, beautiful villa in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful weeks stay. The villa is perfectly located within jolly harbour, with easy access to the supermarket and bars/restaurants.

The villa is beautifully decorated throughout, and is spotlessly clean. There is everything you could ask for provided.

The view from the balconies is lovely, the sun is on the balcony from first thing until around lunch time which is perfect for early morning sunbathing.

We could not fault the villa or the communication we had from the owners.

We hope we can return again soon.

Fantastic holiday spot and villa

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic 2 week stay at this very well furnished villa overlooking the water and hills, which was spotlessly clean. We loved the fact that it was only 5 minutes away from restaurants, bars, sports facilities, dive shop and the beach, set in a lovely quiet and safe location in the Jolly Harbour marina.

It was so nice to start the day with a lazy breakfast on the balcony, then go for a game of tennis at the nearby club or perhaps swim or run along one of the best beaches we’ve ever seen. The Antiguans were all so friendly that we felt like locals after just a couple of days, drinking rum punches with them at the beach bars, watching the sun set.

Great to have a supermarket about a 10 minute walk away which stocked everything you could want, with a lot of things similar to the products you’d find in a Waitrose in the UK, with lovely meat we enjoyed cooking on the BBQ. The villa was fully air conditioned, but also benefited from a lovely breeze, so in the evenings we’d sit down with some drinks, watch boats, play cards and unwind.

You could hire golf buggies for around $20 a day, but we didn’t bother as it was fun to get the local bus and strike up a conversation with the locals and visitors. On a couple of occasions we cheekily flagged down a golf buggy after a few drinks and got a lift to nearby restaurants.

Owners John and Tessa gave us lots of great tips for things to see and do, so don’t miss the opportunity to visit Shirley Heights and dance the night away or eat the best spare ribs we’ve ever had at Dennis’ beach bar.

This was our first trip to Antigua, but it won’t be our last, so thanks for helping to make this such a memorable holiday.

Great vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this villa for three months Jan to March. The villa is clean, tastefully decorated together with a fully equipped kitchen. Everything you may need was available. There is a renovated powder room on the main floor with a nautical decor especially the toilet seat. Friends we had over loved it also. The master bedroom has a queen size bed very comfortable and a large balcony with a small table and chairs. There is only one bathroom upstairs which has been renovated, has a large rain shower, toilet and vanity. Guest bedroom with two single beds and a dresser. All areas are airconditioned but we found if you leave both sliding doors and front door open there was plenty of cross ventilation and only used the air conditioning occasionally. The main floor balcony is equipped with table and four chairs, also two very comfortable loungers and a propane bbq. Any minor things that needed to be attended to were looked after promptly. The villa is only a 3 minute walk to the beach and the beach in our opinion is the best in Antigua. The villas location is perfect partial sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. We spent some great times sitting on the deck with a glass of wine watching the sail boats go by. We always feel very safe in this complex as we take strolls every night within the secure jolly harbour and marina.Plenty of restaurants, bars, bank, pharmacy, great super market with everything you may need, just a 10 minute walk from the villa, or rent a golf cart for about $20 us a day (Tuesday is the day they restock all fresh items, such as dairy products etc) food prices are about 30-50 percent more than Canada however chicken and dairy products are quite reasonable. Anything that is imported is expensive.Liquor in comparison to Canada is very cheap, half price. We brought a lot of food with us including frozen meat if it is from Canada .Declare it by circling meat and writing for personal consumption,we never had any problems.Love the Antiguan people, very friendly. Try the local bus 3.25 e.c dollars into St. John's on a Saturday morning to experience the local farmers market and fresh fish. Pineapple car rentals is within the complex $55us a day + $ 12 insurance for a midsize car.John and Tessa were wonderful hosts, very informative and just a great couple. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at your villa and looking forward to next year.

Thank you

Fantastic Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a very relaxing 2 week stay as this beautiful villa!

We couldn't have asked for a better location with the beach only a 5 minute walk away!

The villa was tastefully decorated throughout and was spotlessly clean when we arrived.

The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare breakfast, which we had on the balcony every morning.

We all throughly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be returning in the future.

I would highly recommend staying here, it was a holiday we'll never forget!

Thank you so much!

Location

From the Owner

This Villa is positioned in one of the best locations of the Jolly Harbour complex, firstly South Finger is far better than the North Finger for location, all amenities and supermarket, secondly the villa is a very short walk to the beach which can only be described as truly amazing. THIS BEACH IN OUR OPINION IS ONE OF THE BEST BEACHES IN THE WORLD ( AND WE HAVE TRAVELLED!!)

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : St John's at 9 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Castaways at 250 Metres Nearest Golf : Jolly Harbour at 500 Metres Nearest Restaurant : Melini's, Il Porto plus many more at 500 Metres Nearest Beach : Jolly Beach at 250 Metres Car: not necessary

Antigua has 365 beaches, one for each day of the year, all of which are open to the public all year round. The unspoilt island of Barbuda can be visited via the Barbuda Express ferry for a day visit or there are sailing trips available if you want to stay for a few days. If you want to capture the amazing scenery of the whole island and surrounding areas then a helicopter tour is a must, you will see just about all of Antigua's coastline and you could also fly over Montserrat and get a closer look at an active volcano!! You could also take advantage of one of the many catamaran tours, Wadadli Cats or Treasure Island Cruises, to see the island from the sea and snorkel in crystal clear waters. Deep sea diving is available, with Jolly Dive, they go out daily to dive at Cades Reef and other location including wrecks. From Jolly Harbour Marina there are also deep sea fishing trips, not to be missed, especially recommended is a fishing trip with "Mystic Amara". There are many places of interest to visit in Antigua including Nelson's Dockyard, English Harbour and Shirley Heights where on a Sunday afternoon there is a BBQ with a live Steel Band playing until sunset when a local reggae band takes over, not to be missed!! St John's is around a 10 minute drive from Jolly Harbour where there is a good duty free shopping area. Tours are also available by land - Island Safari takes you through Antigua's rain forest and you will take in amazing views of the island and the sea. You can also do the zip lines through the rain forest and get a spectacular view from the tree tops. However if all you want from your holiday is sun, sea and relaxation then you have to go no farther than a two minute walk to, what we believe, is the most beautiful beach on the island, right on your doorstep!!!
