Situated on the edge of the Costa da Vicentina National Park and in a pretty, picturesque, working fishing village this luxurious apartment is one of the larger apartments on the Domus Iberica complex. Equipped and furnished to a high standard it offers every comfort for a relaxing self-catering holiday.A sunny south-west facing balcony with built in BBQ leads off the sitting room and bedrooms and is furnished with good quality patio table and chairs for al fresco dining.The apartment also boasts a large private roof terrace with comfortable sun loungers and reclining chairs. Here you can relax and enjoy the excellent views of the surrounding countryside .

The apartment has air-conditioning in the sitting room and both bedrooms and the bathroom has underfloor heating for the cooler months. Electronic shutters help to keep the apartment cool in the summer.

Upstairs there is a large secure walk in cupboard-ideal for storing golf clubs, surf boards etc. Beach toys, beach umbrellas and chairs ,cool bags are stored here and guests are very welcome to use them.

The apartment is set in landscaped gardens and there is a communal pool and children's splash pool with changing room facilities ,showers and toilets.The poolside cafe serves snacks and drinks throughout the day and early evening and has a large screen TV.In the season they organise entertainment-often live music.

About Jill and Rick Scott

Rick and I live in a small village about 25 miles from Oxford . Rick runs the family business and I am a special needs teacher. We have 4 children ranging in ages from 36 to 24 years old and they still all enjoy returning to Burgau .

Why Jill and Rick Scott chose Vila Do Bispo region

Our first family holiday in the western Algarve was in 1995 in a villa just outside Burgau. We all immediately fell in love with this area of Portugal,its unspoilt coastline,stunning beaches,friendly locals and excellent food. Over the years we have been fortunate to be able to holiday in many other destinations but we were always drawn back to the western Algarve and in particular Burgau,so we did not hesitate when we were fortunate enough to buy off plan an apartment in the Domus Iberica resort. Since purchasing it we have spent many happy holidays there with our family and friends.We are very proud of our holiday home and of the high standard to which we maintain it.

What makes this apartment unique

From the apartment you are only a short stroll away from Burgau ,a typical traditional Portuguese fishing village which has retained its unique charm.Spectacular cliff and countryside walks can be enjoyed from the apartment . Burgau beach is a beautiful Blue flag beach but many other fabulous beaches are only a short drive away.

Thank you for letting us stay in your super apartment - the best we have ever stayed in in Burgau. We've had fantastic weather and thoroughly enjoyed the pool and beaches(Castelejo was our favourite).A lot more eating out this year as Tomik(poolside snack bar/restaurant) such good value and excellent food(our teenagers loved it).We also enjoyed the Beach bar. Ana (property manager) and her team have been absolutely excellent-we were very grateful for responding so quickly and efficiently to our calls. Thank you.

Burgau is very special to our family and we hope to be back and would definitely like to stay in your apartment again.

The apartment has been recently completely redecorated and is always maintained to a very high standard.It is managed by a local Portuguese lady who speaks excellent English and is always on hand to give advice and to help your holiday run smoothly.We provide a meet and greet service when Ana will show you around the apartment, explain how everything works and answer any questions you might have.We also provide a small welcome pack of essential items. You will have exclusive use of the swimming pool complex which is accessed through an electronic gate. There is secure underground car parking to keep your car cool in the summer months. We provide a maid service. Holidays of over 9 nights will have a mid stay clean and towel and linen change.

Good Location with large roof terrace

Lovely apartment, great location in the village with good view from the large roof terrace. Very well equipped with plenty of information relating to the apartment and local area not to mention the recommendations for restaurants. Ana the property manager was friendly and helpful. We have visited Burgau many times and now feel we have found our ideal apartment.

Excellent apartment with roof terrace

I would thoroughly recommend this apartment. It is very well equipped, clean and cared for. Within easy walking of the Burgau beach and the many restaurants in the village. One of the best apartments we have stayed in. There are a number of good beaches nearby and many other facilities - so consequently an excellent holiday.

The apartment is situated on the edge of the Costa da Vicentina National Park and is ideally situated for exploring the 150 km of unspoilt coastline and its impressive choice of beaches.The south facing beaches are more sheltered and ideal for younger families whilst the western beaches (approx 20 mins drive )are more rugged and exposed and are very popular with surfers.The beautiful clean,sandy,blue flag beach in Burgau is about a 10 minute walk through pretty cobbled streets lined with white washed houses and is ideal for younger children.Spectacular coastal walks towards Luz/Lagos to the east and Salema to the west can be enjoyed from the apartment.In the spring the cliff tops are clothed with a wonderful array of spring flowers and the area is also very popular for bird watching.

Burgau has an excellent choice of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes .Burgau beach bar is very popular . Here you can enjoy your meal or cocktails whilst watching the sunset! Most of the restaurants serve typical Portuguese dishes and locally caught fish will be found on the menu.Children are always welcome.For those wishing to eat in we recommend buying fresh fish from the fish van which stops at the cross roads in the mornings or alternatively visit the lively fish market in Lagos. A real treat on the BBQ! For everyday items there are 3 small supermarkets in the village and fresh bread can be brought or ordered from the bakery. There is an excellent independent wine shop and the owner will always make recommendations. We have always found the wines to be of good quality and very competitively priced.

The apartment is approx 1 hour drive from Faro airport (nearly all motorway) and approx 3 hour drive from Lisbon airport.We have on many occasions flown into Lisbon and enjoyed exploring the city before travelling down to Burgau.

There is a reliable taxi firm in the village and a regular bus service to Luz and Lagos from the village so it is possible to spend a holiday in Burgau without a car but if you wish to explore the many beautiful beaches then a car is recommended.

The tourist office in Burgau is ideal for booking trips to local attractions such as the water parks and the Zoo and they will arrange for a coach to pick you up.There is also a local surf school pick-up point in the village.

The apartment is on the western edge of the village and is 2 km from the larger resort of Praia da Luz and 10 minute drive from Lagos,a very attractive busy historic town and marina.Here you will find a wide selection of shops and restaurants ,several music bars ,a jazz and blues club and a choice of larger supermarkets.

Boat trips to the grottos and dolphin watching trips (thoroughly recommended) are available from the marina as are deep sea fishing trips.The apartment is also within easy travelling distance of Sagres ('the end of the world' and famous for its sunsets),the Roman spa town of Monchique and the surrounding Monchique mountains and Silves situated on the Rio Arade and famous for its well preserved castle.
