About the property

A Lovely Romantic Cottage With Real Fire In Ancient Cinque Port Of Rye

Dating from the 18th Century, and situated in picturesque East Street in the centre of Rye, Froglets is a most charming Grade Two listed cottage.

Unusually spacious, it comfortably sleeps up to six people , and is one of the few three-bedroom cottages to be found in the Rye Citadel.

Offering the best of old world charm coupled with all modern amenities,

Froglet’s cosy sitting room even has a traditional brick fireplace providing guests with warming, real log fires ( an initial supply of logs and coal is provided in winter months ).

Full of delightful quality furnishings, comfortable beds and sofas, and numerous antiques, Froglets offers everything to ensure our guests enjoyment and comfort – TV’s, Video & DVD Player, CD Player, Radio and free WiFi access.

The spacious kitchen-breakfast room is fully fitted and equipped with

all contemporary utilities - oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, and an extensive range of cooking equipment and tableware. The antique pine table easily sits six people for breakfast.

Unlike many ancient cottages, the three bedrooms are located on the first floor, and are easily accessed by a traditional staircase. This gives the cottage the added advantage of making it safe and suitable for all age groups.

All of the bedrooms are charming and comfortably furnished with generous storage space. Two of them have double beds and TV, and the third bedroom offers a single bed which can be extended to a double if required.

Located on the first floor, the bright family bathroom features a full size bath with mixer taps and shower attachment, low level toilet and hand basin.

Converted from the old pantry, there is a small characterful study off the sitting room, with writing desk and shelves, games, cards and reading books for guests entertainment.

Leading to the back courtyard, is a spacious hallway offering plenty of space for storing beach and holidays items (Coats, shoes, boots etc .) There is also a book case with a good selection of books for keen readers.

At the rear of the cottage is a small walled courtyard area, with table and chairs – a perfect place to relax in good weather. (Also a useful space for drying clothes and other items.)

There is some limited parking outside the cottage.

Froglets is a perfect base for exploring Rye!

About michael trevillion

My name is Michael Trevillion and I am a Brighton based photographer.

My wife Sharon first introduced me to Rye many years ago and it is just about our favourite place anywhere !

michael trevillion purchased this cottage in 2015

Why michael trevillion chose Rye

My relationship with Froglets Cottage goes back 20 years to when my wife and I used to rent it from the previous owners for family holidays. We particularly loved staying there for Xmas ., Rye is the best place for winter holidays and sitting around the roaring fire at Froglets can not be beat on a chilly evening.

What makes this cottage unique

Froglets is really friendly and cosy without being dark and cramped which a lot of the lovely old properties in Rye can be.

Lovely cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

It was much bigger than expected. 7 of us had dinner the first night and 6 slept for 2 nights. It was right in the middle of Rye so handy for everything. Good layout for cooking in the kitchen and lounge/diner flexible space for eating and relaxing. Michael was on hand for queries. The water board turned off the water in Rye Friday and our bit was last to be reconnected so we also met some very friendly neighbours. We were there for a family celebration and we all really loved it and had a good time. There is some lovely walking in the area and great places to eat. The local supermarket is closed Sunday and the local newspaper shop does not do Sunday newspapers. The Globe was a magical pub with superb food and Marinos - great fish and chips.

Cosy retreat in the centre of Rye

  • 5 of 5

Froglets Cottage is an extremely comfortable and cosy cottage. It is very clean, in an excellent location in the centre of beautiful Rye and has everything you need, including a bottle of wine very generously left for us on arrival! Communication with Michael was excellent and he recommended some great places to eat. 6 of us spent a wonderful long weekend at Froglets and were all extremely comfortable. We highly recommend it to anyone coming to Rye.
