Chalet Gingembre is a traditional, yet cosy family chalet situated in the sought-after Manigod valley and resort.
Manigod-La Croix Fry ski resort, as well as La Clusaz area easy to reach and within minutes away by car or navette.
Chalet Gingembre can accommodate 6-8 guests in three bedrooms. The chalet has an open plan lounge and sitting room with an open fire place and large sofas for a comfortably and cosy atmosphere, surrounded by a balcony where guests can enjoy the picturesque views of the Manigod valley against the backdrop of the Aravis mountains.
The chalet has a suitably equipped kitchen and dining area to enjoy family meal times.
The top floor of the chalet has two Twin Bedrooms and one Double Bedroom, a Bathroom (bath tub and shower applique) and seperate WC. This level is also home to the open-plan living area providing a spacious Lounge with fireplace, a Dining area and kitchen.
On the ground floor of the chalet is the entrance hall and a large TV room which doubles up as the fourth Bedroom (double sofa bed and two single beds). There is a shower room with WC on this level and a seperate drying/laundry room with a washing machine.
Outside is a small unfenced garden for outside dining and a BBQ (furniture is stored in the chalet for use).
The chalet is close to the road from Manigod village to the main ski area so transport to the slopes is excellent and easy. The ski-bus stops at the end of the drive.
We are Rupert and Kate and we live in Hampshire with our 2 young children. We have loved visiting the chalet in all seasons and find it the perfect antidote to working life. In the winter we love to ski en famille on the fun slopes of Croix Fry or on our own in some of the more adventurous off-piste areas of the resort. In the summer we enjoy the alpine walks and woods with cooling mountain streams or family picnics by the lake in Annecy with swimming in the wonderful, surprisingly warm, waters.
Kate Day purchased this chalet in 1993
We fell in love with the Manigod valley which is a beautiful and magical spot in the mountains. Away from the rush and crowds of the main ski centre and yet within 5 minutes of the lifts which connect into the La Clusaz resort. The chalet has the most wonderful views of the mountains which we have photographed in all seasons and all weathers!
An amazing valley with wonderful views. Very comfortable chalet - easy for family visits with plenty of space.
We went here for a week in August, and having never been to the Alps before I wasnt sure what to expect. What we got was a lovely chalet, obviously run by a family who loves it, well taken care of, even included wifi for the kids! Has some lovely views of the surrounding mountains, and there are pictures inside of how it looks in the winter, which was nice to see as we were there in mid summer! Close enough to the local towns and major destinations without being too busy or too quiet, its an ideally placed location for doing a lot of things. Luckily its also quiet enough to just sit on the veranda for enjoying a coffee and the beautiful view. Excellent for star gazing if you get clear skies. Nearby places we visited were Lake Annecy, Geneva, Chamonix and Mont Blanc. Would love to return at some point.
Really enjoyed our stay. Cosy and well equipped house. Great place to relax at the end of the day. You may need snow chains to park and sometimes the electricity tripped out. Have also fed back to owners that the washing machine needed replacing. But this didn't affect our holiday and we would definitely stay again. We got the ski pass for the whole ski area, not just the local and the extra for the night skiing was useful at the end of the day.
I have stayed in this property many times for ski holidays.
It is beautiful Chalet with a homely feel. Good size living space and dining area with a great open fire and comfortable seating area.
Great views over the valley and within easy driving distance from the nearest slopes but other resorts in the area are also easily accessible within a half hours drive.
I shall be going back again this year.
If you are looking for relaxation and comfort at the end of a day’s skiing then Chalet Gingembre is an ideal choice. I have stayed there regularly over the years with friends and family and have found it a perfect base for ski trips. The spacious living room has a cosy feel and is a great spot for chilling out at the end of the day with a glass of wine in hand and the log fire burning. The 3 bedrooms on the first floor are all of a good size and there is a very large bedroom on the ground floor. The chalet is well appointed throughout and on each visit the owners seem to have made some improvement. The chalet is in a great location with a stunning view across the valley. It also has easy access to the ski areas at Croix Fry (undoubtedly the best area in La Clusaz for beginners and young families) and L’Etale (a real gem for more experienced skiers and boarders). Access to the airport is also good as Geneva is only about an hour’s drive away. Highly recommended.
Chalet Gingembre is a traditional chalet in beautiful surroundings. The Chalet has been recently modernised and is in excellent condition throughout. With the Manigod shops and the ski lifts at Croix Fry nearby the position is ideal. We stayed with a group of friends and found the chalet to be very spacious. The Chalet would also work well for families. The Chalet was very clean and well prepared for our arrival. Our favourite restaurant was La Ferme on the way to La Clusaz which serves the best pizzas in the resort!
Chalet Gingembre makes a great impression from the moment you arrive. The location is excellent – just 10-minutes drive down the road from the Croix-Fry ski station (which links to the whole of the La Clusaz system) and with a glorious, unobstructed alpine view from the main living-room balcony. It was about an hour's drive from Geneva airport and very easy to find, being right next to the road from Manigod to Croix-Fry. There is a generous parking area right by the door.
The chalet has a really spacious feel and the rooms were all clean and comfortable, with a number of nice quirky touches such as vintage wooden skis hanging on the wall. Every creature comfort is catered for; a well-equipped kitchen complete with ceramic hob, double oven and dishwasher, copious hot water for baths and showers, big open fireplace with huge stack of prepared firewood, and even a heated boot room and ski storage area. There's also a fast and reliable wi-fi internet hub, which coped with everything our multitude of mobile devices threw at it!
We tended to spend our evenings in the chalet after full days out on the slopes (once the fire was lit and the wine was opened, we didn't really want to be anywhere else), but there are restaurants within short driving distance and I would heartily recommend La Ferme in La Clusaz for an authentic taste of Savoyarde cuisine.
We all agreed it would probably also be a great destination for a summer excursion; the hiking and cycling round there must be amazing. Some other time, perhaps.
A memorable trip – highly recommended!
