About the Owner

We are the Snells, I am Julie or Jules and this is a bleached Daniel my husband in the picture. We have two teenage daughters Mads and Abi one of which is residing in Indonesia. Being a surfing family we couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to live in, we are spoilt for choice with the beaches of Bude, Widemouth, Northcott Mouth, Sandymouth they tick all the boxes for fun in the water and if not just great to take a stroll and inhale the cornish air. We love where we live and want others to enjoy it to.

We had a lovely break here and the property is close to Bude which has everything. A river to go boating on and a beautiful beach & quant shop's to explore.lots of picturesque ports to discover too. The only negative was the surrounding property is under renovation and has a lot of unsightly mess around it but this did not affect our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing our home and we are glad you enjoyed your break in Cornwall. Sorry to receive the review concerning our neighbours as always with a semi detached property we as owners cannot control what they do or how they present their own home. 2 Royal Oak stands in its own surroundings and doesn't overlook our neighbours property. Next door can only be viewed from upstairs and doesn't inhibit our home from its rural views. Sadly I think this is why we missed a 5 star rating which we cannot control. I take your comments onboard and thank you for being honest. We as a family try to make all of our visitors happy with their stay and to be comfortable in the surroundings. We wish you as happy end to 2016. Jules and family.

Excellent accomodation - A wonderful hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

We've been to a couple of places in this area before (sister lives down here) but this is the best. Had the place we'd stayed in before not have been booked up, then we would have never found here. If, or when we come back, this place is our first choice.

We arrived after an 8 hr journey to a wonderfully presented property and to be greeted by Julie, the owner, and it was such a warm greeting, that you immediately felt that if you were to have a problem, it would be no hassle. However, we had no problems.

The property was as beautiful inside as out, and on entering we found that we had immediate basics plus more. Such delicious scones, jam and clotted cream to buoy us back up after our journey. Delish! Oh and a bottle of beer, tasty.

The property itself has a wonderful kitchen, come dining and seating area, with a spacious living room. We had already agreed with Julie about bringing an xbox (for films on Netflix - the kids enjoy a film before bed), wifi cover was great (you do go to places where you can be left waiting).

All the rooms are of a really good size.

One shower room with toilet downstairs, clean, modern and comfortable. One bathroom upstairs again clean, modern and comfortable.

All 3 bedrooms were cosy and comfortable, the kids loved theirs and ours was great, every one fell in love with how good their mattresses were (could do with knowing where they are from so we can get them next time we change ours).

Plenty of space to lie down in the garden to what shooting stars on the clear nights or play with the kids.

Bedding and towels provided.

Couldn't fault it.

Great location for the coast and Bodmin Moor.

Places to visit: Summerleaze for the waves and surfing, Crooklets if you don't have a dog but want the same experience. Tintagel - but if your scared of heights don't bother with the castle just go down for the trip and take a hot chocolate from the café (delish). Tamar Otter Sanctuary - nice afternoon out, very informative talks given about the otters and the chance to feed deer and walk around woodland with the deer and wallabies free around you. Rough Tor - vigorous walk, but wonderful views, take a picnic and enjoy eating it up at the Tor. Elements Restaurant - if you want a very nice meal with fantastic views.

Fantastic home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This house was an absolute delight. Clean and tidy throughout with everything we needed. Surprisingly spacious (we are a family with two adults and three teenagers) and such interesting decor, a real home from home experience.

Lots of attention to detail and a lovely warm welcome from the owner Jules, the homemade scones were especially appreciated after our long journey down.

The house has a fabulous view and is in a great location only 10 minutes drive into Bude where there is plenty to do and see, along with Lidl, Morrisons and Sainsburys for stocking up on food.

We also ventured to the beach at Widemouth Bay a little further down the coast which was excellent for surfing&bodyboarding.

All in all a fantastic holiday, we would highly recommend this house.

Beautiful with ample space

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 5 with three young and very lively boys (7,4&2) the garden is a lovely size and it definitely helped with our decision of choosing this house for our holiday. The boys were out in it at every opportunity weather permitting. The house was so beautiful with ample space and everything we needed. Julie gave us a lovely welcome, so friendly and was full of advice for where to go locally which was a great help. We are definitely considering coming back next year and will definitely be recommending this house to family and friends. The beaches are only a short drive and summerleaze beach was gorgeous, the stroll down the canal was lovely to but by far my favourite was the view of Widemouth bay from the road where we were able to park and walk down to explore the rocks on the beach and look for drift wood with the boys. Thank you Julie we had a lovely time!

Lovely home from home (but tidier!)

  • 4 of 5

This really felt a homely cottage with a seaside/surf vibe. Lots of attention to detail from the welcome pack and cake on arrival to the personal references for surf instruction. Julie and Daniel were great hosts. We had a great holiday. Comfy beds, great showers and everything you'd need. If this cottage was just a bit closer to the coast it would have been perfect.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for a marvellous review. We aim to give all our visitors a home from home with a feel good factor to make their stay a comfortable one and memorable. We wish we were closer to the sea as we are such avid surfers but we wouldn't get these rural views and space a small price to pay. Thank you for choosing our home and being such lovely guests whom left are home spotless. Have a great summer 2016. Surf love Jules and family
