About Alastair and Ann MacLennan

We work on Balliefurth farm, a family run stock farm producing excellent quality beef and lamb, which you can purchase during your stay at Aspen if you like, either from us directly or through the Balliefurth Farm shop in Nethybridge. It is an amazing area to live and work. We built Aspen in 2012 as a purpose built luxury lodge to very high specifications to make your holiday experience exceptional.

Alastair and Ann MacLennan purchased this house in 2012

Why Alastair and Ann MacLennan chose Aviemore and the Cairngorms

The location of Aspen, on the farm, in our opinion, could not be better. The views through the large picture windows are amazing, it is in a quiet setting, yet really well placed for exploring the Highlands.

What makes this house unique

Apart from the property itself, which is exceptional, one of the main highlights is sitting in the hot tub with friends or a loved one, with a wee champagne in your hand looking at the stars. As we have very little light pollution here the skies are incredible.

The sauna after a day walking or cycling is the ultimate in relaxation. We also have a full Sky package and free WiFi for your use.

The full size table tennis table and dart board as well as the x box 360 connect and Wii and full Sky package should keep everyone amused, even on a dull day.

A wonderful piece of heaven !

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful family weekend at Aspen Lodge . Without doubt one of the most amazing places we have stayed. Secluded and peaceful it was a perfect way to relax and unwind. A thoroughly 5 star experience with everything you could want or need. The house was spotless and the welcome was warm . Our family of 8 adults particularly enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and games room where many great memories were made. A perfect house for entertaining and the lamb bought from the farm shop was delicious. The views from the house were breathtaking . I would highly recommend Aspen Lodge to anyone . If only we could have stayed longer - an amazing and memorable holiday had by all . Thank you so much Anne and Alastair for sharing you beautiful home with us

Lodging in Luxury

  • 5 of 5

This property has absolutely everything that anyone could want. It has been maintained in excellent condition and is spotless throughout. The facilities within the premises could not be better with all of the kitchen accessories you might need being provided. The location provides privacy but at the same time is within easy reach of countryside walks and nearby towns. It has provision for the whole group there to spend time together and at the same time has space for anyone to chill out if they feel they want to. While there we visited the reindeer herd, the 'green loch' and a walk at Loch an Eileen which only scrapes the surface of the local visitor attractions. Alastair and Ann provide excellent customer service and we would have no hesitation in recommending Aspen Lodge to anyone.

Fabulous modern property

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful house that is laid our so well that it would adapt to many different types of groups. Very comfortable to live in with any technology you could want. Also beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and with all the cows and sheep to watch there is no need for Netflix.

Wonderful Luxury Lodge

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 6 adults and 3 infants who stayed at Aspen Lodge in June 2016. We had a fantastic time. The property is large, well-equipped, clean, comfortable and finished to a high standard. The hot tub, sauna and full package sky TV are a nice touch. Great location with plenty to keep all ages entertained within easy reach. The owners are friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again and have no hesitations recommending Aspen Lodge.
