About the Owner

I was born and grew up in this area. I have worked here all my life as a Solicitor until retirement 5 years ago. Clock cottage forms part of but is seperate from our small 75 acre farm and has its own lawned and walled area with lovely views over the Graig Hill to the northwest. We brought up our four children here and it has been a wonderful family home to which they are all drawn in spite of having grown up and married and they bring their children back here as often as they are able. I think that this part of the World is one of the most beautiful and everytime that I return here from other parts of the World I consider myself very blest and lucky to live here. We are all keen walkers and cyclists and spend a lot of our leisure time walking and cycling throughout the area. We are very close to Offas Dyke path and to White Castle and one can walk 'The Three Castles 'walk from here, about twenty miles taking in White, Grosmont and Skenfrith Castles in a large circular walk or do it over a couple of days in sections.

The cottage we were dreaming of.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this cottage. The house was perfectly clean and completely equipped, also with useful suggestions about the lovely countryside. Most of all, it is really beautiful and set in an amazing position. The owners have been extremely kind and hospitable as well. We definitely felt like home. We would recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a relaxing and high quality time.

The pictures don't do this place justice, it is lovely. Really nice location and very well equipped - we really appreciated the kitchen supplies that were provided. Excellent hospitality too. We'll be back!

'Shhhhhhhhh, keep it a secret !!!

Superb and tastefully converted property. We loved the amount of light let in by the excellent patio windows across the whole side of the house. It was incredibly relaxing sitting looking out across open fields with a 'glass of lemonade'!

The property is located adjacent to the owners own property, but designed to give lots of privacy. Beautiful gardens and you could 'hear the silence'. Only broken by the occasional braying of the resident and very friendly donkey, or the meowing of the equally friendly cat.

The owners were very helpful, whilst not being intrusive. (Offering to drive us to and from the local restaurant was definitely above and beyond expectations).

This is indeed a home from home, with the welcome pack of goodies being much appreciated after a long journey. The detailed advance information provided by Julian was faultless too.

Unfortunately we were only there for four days, but again the owners were very flexible in letting us have Thursday to Sunday, whereby most weekend breaks are Friday to Monday. We had a superb time and the only disappointment was that the time went so very quickly. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

There is a very detailed and helpful information pack advising on places to eat and things to do. We ate at the Walnut Tree which is a Michelin starred pub. If you want to eat there, make sure to book early, (another helpful snippet offered by the owners).

Overall a superb and relaxing break - even if we did need some time off afterwards, to recover from the amount of walking we did !!

Perfect, peaceful haven... absolutely loved it

Just returned from a three night stay at this delightful cottage for our wedding anniversary. Clock cottage is secluded enough with lovely views, but still quite easy to get to. The cottage itself is well thought out and homely, making our stay incredibly comfortable. It's a great space with everything you need, and the welcome supplies we were left were a real treat! Combine this with the friendliest hosts imaginable, on hand to offer tips and suggestions and who genuinely went out of their way to help us visit places we'd read about (including the renowned Walnut Tree Inn) and get out on some fantastic walks.

Clock Cottage is a real gem and we really hope to return again in the future.

A really lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings, great attention to detail, a log stove and a very comfy bed. Even a bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge for Valentines Day! What more can you ask for? :) Thank you Julian. We'll definitely be back.

Amazing - Loved every second!

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed at Clock Cottage to celebrate our anniversary, and couldn't have wished for anything more! The cottage was very comfortable, clean & tidy, and had everything that we needed. In a great location, rural and away from the crowds however still accessible to the local villages. Julian's kindess really stood out for us, as a host he was friendly, helpful & on hand at all times. It really was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to come back!!!
