About Mr Tim Davis and Mrs Georgina Mucklow-Davis

Having had a family holiday home in Marazion, Georgina has longed for a property in this area. From the first viewing, Clipper Cove was an ideal property. This is our second holiday property and with Georgina's many years experience with interior decoration our large house in the South of France was featured in "25 Beautiful Homes" magazine, appearing on the cover of the May, 2014 issue. See Property Ref 8076549.

Why Mr Tim Davis and Mrs Georgina Mucklow-Davis chose Breage

We saw the Penthouse and thought the position (right by the sea) was fabulous, when we viewed it we knew that this apartment would give guests the most wonderful holiday. The views are so special and the beach is just outside the door across the green. I love Praa Sands because it is unspoiled and quiet, you can be the only person on the beach on a stunningly sunny day in spring, and what a tonic that is! Peace and quiet. Praa Sands is easy to get to by train or road and Newquay Airport is only 45 minutes away by car. I am so proud to be able to offer first class accommodation in our lovely part the world, and the thank you emails and letters I have received confirm I made the right choice.

What makes this apartment unique

The great thing about Praa Sands, is it is easy to visit some of the most fabulous venues. St Michaels Mount and Marazion (wild bird sanctuary) St Ives, Porthleven, Minack Theatre, Lands End, Falmouth are all close by.

Praa Sands Golf Club is walking distance, and the Cornish coastal footpath is on the doorstep. We are surrounded by National Trust Gardens and properties, the latest acquisition Godolphine House, being 10 minutes away by car. I must mention the weather, somehow we seem to get the best of it at Praa Sands, the Penthouse is sheltered in most wind directions and sitting looking out through the Juliet balcony doors on most days feels really warm, a true suntrap, lovely. Also we benefit from the underfloor geothermal heating which keeps the Penthouse toasty in the winter.

Perfect Peaceful Penthouse!

  • 5 of 5

As a family already living in Cornwall, we looked long and hard for a property for us to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. We chose the Penthouse mainly for practical reasons. It is easy to access from the A30 but more importantly, it was big enough to accommodate our very tall sons! It is not always easy to find places where tall people can fit in Cornwall.

Being someone who comes to this area in a work capacity almost every week, I was familiar with the area and knew what to expect, but even I was surprised how very peaceful it was. The building has several flats but we did not hear or see anyone other than the odd person to say hello to. The Penthouse itself is very well equipped with everything a family could want. The kitchen has everything you could possibly want and knowing this in advance, enabled me to cater for a family with difficult dietary needs. The freezer was a great help.

The views from the Penthouse windows gave us so much enjoyment as the weather was everything, so provided us with ever changing seascapes. You can never tire of looking out and there is a chair positioned in prime location for this. Also the binoculars provided gave us much joy, so we didn't really use the TV or other modern entertainment available, but it is all there, should you want it. I even got up in the middle of the night to see the moon shine in the sea. Absolutely magical!

The owner, Georgina, has been fantastic throughout the whole experience and went out of her way communicating with me, as we experienced some technical problems. Louise, the housekeeper, who met us on our arrival, was also very kind and made us feel very welcome. I really appreciated the flowers and the box of goodies left for us.

We spent out time walking on the beach, which is completely free from the kind of plastic commerce one often finds on beaches. There is a cafe but being a grown up family, we went to the pub. It is rare to find a pub directly on the beach in Cornwall, so this was a real treat. The boys played golf at the nearby Caravan site. Nine holes cost £15 which might sound a little expensive but every hole apparently had a stunning view and the course is well kept. We took a picnic to Loe Bar and walked to Portleven from there. We also drove to Portcurnow and visited The Minack Theatre, which is a real gem and finally we went to St. Michaels Mount and had a great day.

I would, and am already, recommending the Penthouse to everyone I come across.

Wonderful Holiday

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have just returned from a week's holiday staying at Clipper's Cove. The apartment is beautiful and caters for all your needs. The beach and café are within a short walking distance and well worth a visit. Praa Sands is well positioned and gave easy access to the wonderful sites that Cornwall has to offer. The people are friendly and welcoming. There are lots of good restaurants and I would definitely recommend Rick Steins at Porthleven .

The owner, Georgina is lovely and ensures that you have a wonderful experience while staying at Clippers Cove.

This is definitely Poldark Country

The Penthouse is centrally situated between 3 of the filming locations for Poldark. Trips of 20 to 35 minutes will reach Gunwalloe, Porthgwarra and Botallack

Coast/Beach:

One of Cornwall's best south coast surfing beaches is literally 100m away and the surfing activity can be observed from your balcony. It is a beautiful sandy beach with surf shop, restaurant/bar and cafe's beachside.

Travel:

Penzance train station with direct line from Paddington, London is approx. 7 miles away. Newquay airport which is serviced by Ryanair and Air Southwest, is about 25 miles away, but the roads are superb now they have finished the A30 past Bodmin. This makes a sub 5 hour journey from London probable.

Distances:

The property is extremely central to some of the best locations in Cornwall. St. Ives 8 miles, Lands End 15 miles, Falmouth 14 miles, Lizard 12 miles, Minnack Theatre, Porthcurno 12 miles, Helford Passage 11 miles and Truro 18 miles. Porthleven Harbour and St. Michael's Mount are just a few miles away.

Further Details:

There is a local surf school or you can hire surfboards from a fabulous surf shop on the beach. Kayak trips are brilliant to Rinsey Head (east) or Prussia Cove (west). There are so many amazing walks that we provide a book for your choice. The climbing near Rinsey Head is well documented in the Guide books and Diving can be booked at the surf shop to go out in a boat from Porthlevan, the next cove along. The famous St. Michael's Mount and its causeway at Marazion is just 3 miles west. Walk across the causeway or take the ferry at high tide. Bank and supermarket facilities are available in the local town of Penzance with it's bohemian shopping centre, just 7 miles away or Helston only 5 miles.
