Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms 3 bathrooms with sea views private pool & gardens 5 mins from village

A beautiful tranquil four bedroom detached villa with private pool and panoramic views towards the Mediterranean, located within 5 minutes of the picturesque white washed village of Mijas.

The villa has undergone complete top to bottom refurbishment and has been finished to an exceptional standard throughout with superb fitted kitchen with Bosch and Miele appliances, including wine fridge, two ovens, fitted microwave, plate warming oven, fitted dishwasher and fully equipped with a comprehensive range of kitchen pans, dishes and utensils etc.

Off of the kitchen is a separate laundry area equipped with washing machine and dryer and additional freezer.

The accommodation is spacious, light and airy with an elegant mix of traditional arches and rustic charm and is set over two floors.

There is an open plan living room with open fireplace and large kitchen/dining room located on the first floor which benefit from the amazing views towards the coastline and lead our onto a large covered terrace which offers welcome shade in the summer months. There is also a cloakroom and snug room with further open fireplace on the first floor.

On the ground floor there are four spacious bedrooms and three bathrooms. Off of the ground floor hallway the villa has a private feature 'bodega' (wine storage cave) hence it's name Casa de la Cueva (house of the cave).

All bedrooms have extensive wardrobe and drawer space, each with a hairdryer. Two of the bedrooms have doors opening out to the terrace which runs around the rear of the villa.

There are 3 bathrooms with a mixture and baths and showers and all are beautifully finished with traditionally painted Andalucian tiles. Two of the bathrooms are en suite with the third shower room serving the other two bedrooms.

The open plan living room is extremely spacious and airy with comfortable modern furnishings and an attractive open fireplace. Upon entering the living room there is a large arched window which affords the room a stunning back drop towards the coastline views and makes the room extremely light. There is a flat screen television with satellite channels available, docking station and radio / CD player and blue tooth speaker.

There is a second snug reception room with open fireplace and additional flat screen tv with DVD player and a wide selection of childrens and family DVDs, very useful for children to use or to quietly read a book.

Doors off of the dining area open out onto an extensive covered terrace which is the perfect spot for an afternoon siesta or 'al fresco' dining and overlooks the rear gardens. The covered terrace has stunning coastal panoramic views and is extremely spacious with attractive open arches to all three sides making it light and airy. On this terrace there is a large outside dining table, sofas and a Weber gas BBQ.

This terrace leads onto a smaller second terrace again with outside seating and stunning views to the countryside and sea. There are steps to the side of this terrace which lead down to the pool area.

There is a large 8 x 4 metre private pool with large terrace area with sunbeds and a outside seating area a lemon grove. The views again from the pool are far reaching towards sea.

Around the villa there are additional outside tables to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the location and relax.

Mijas is a beautiful traditional village which nestles comfortably in the mountainside at 428 metres above sea level and is located within an easy drive from Malaga airport which is very accessible all year round with numerous daily international flights.

The village is a mix of narrow cobbled streets with several village squares and offers an array of local shops selling a huge variety of items from local pottery, paintings to local produce such as cheeses, hams and delicious handmade ice cream.

There is a plethora of bars and restaurants to choose from within the village from local tapas bars where you can pass the time of day with the locals to a huge variety of cuisine from outdoor BBQ restaurants to others offering freshly caught seafood, superb steaks and simple menu del dia (menu of the day).

Mijas Pueblo has managed to retain much of its traditional Andalucían way of life with about 70% of it's residents being Spanish and benefits from an excellent all year round climate and is the perfect location to visit other popular spots such as Granada, Gibraltar and even ski in the winter in Sierra Nevada.

About Caroline McCrorie

We live in Marlow, Buckinghamshire and have enjoyed many visits to this beautiful area of Spain. We viewed many villas until we came across the villa and fell in love with it's stunning views and close proximity to Mijas Pueblo.

We know how precious holiday time is and do our very best to ensure that the villa is a welcoming home from home for visitors where people can switch off and enjoy time away.

We owned a holiday villa in Menorca for 14 years up until 2015 when we bought this stunning villa in Mijas which we completely refurbished top to bottom to an exceptional standard.

Caroline McCrorie purchased this villa in 2015

Why Caroline McCrorie chose Mijas

We wanted to find a property on mainland Spain where flights are available all year round, the climate is good, within easy reach of amenities yet tucked away with privacy and views, The villa ticked all these boxes and we hope visitors will love it as much we do.

Mijas is just a few minutes away and as children we remembered visiting, it really hasn't changed very much at all over the years, still retaining it's charm and character. It has a very friendly laid back feel and there are numerous bars and restaurants to enjoy a meal out or some delicious local tapas.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is very spacious and has a has character with an amazing large terrace to the rear with stunning views towards the coast. The villa is completely private and secluded but is a very short distance from Mijas pueblo. At the top of the lane ( 2 minute walk) there is the convenience of a local bus stop which you can hop on and be in Mijas in under a 5 minutes.

beautiful, quiet villa with breathtaking view

  • 5 of 5

A wonderfully relaxing holiday at this beautiful villa. It was very peaceful and quiet with outstanding views of the coast. The villa was extremely clean and really has everything you could need. Mijas is a short distance away and we spent many evenings in this pretty town. The owner was available for any questions and overall I would highly recommend for anyone wishing to totally unwind and relax.

Fantastic family holiday

  • 5 of 5

This is a superb villa, beautiful view and excellently maintained, we were delighted we chose it. Excellent fascilities we wanted for nothing, even when we had a water problem the repair man was with us in a couple of hours, an excellent service we thought.

The position of villa means it is not suitable for the very young or anyone with mobility problems, however as we were a family group of grown ups it was ideal.

Caroline, the owner, swiftly communicated through the booking process and the run up to our visit via emails and even the odd phone call. We would definitely recommend this villa and not hesitate to return.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from two weeks in this lovely villa. We were two families holidaying together and found the villa to be excellent in terms of space and facilities. The beds and furniture were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was superbly equipped. We really enjoyed spending time around the lovely pool and spent many a lazy lunchtime and evening on the covered terrace eating, drinking and playing games.

We fell in love with the area, particularly Mijas Pueblo. It was extremely hot and we found it more comfortable to catch a bus into the village in the evening and then walk back. The buses were frequent and very good value for money.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa - a lot of time and thought has gone into the refurbishment making it a real home from home and a stunning place to rest and relax. Will definitely look to return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to send us a review about your holiday. We have also come too as 2 families and it works well as there are various areas to sit and relax both inside and outside the villa. The convenience of not always having to drive is great too. We're so pleased you had a great time and look forward to welcoming you again!

Excellent villa in Mijas Pueblo

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Mijas and our first to Casa de la Cueva, a villa I cannot recommend highly enough and one we will definitely be visiting again.

The location is brilliant with fantastic gardens, the villa itself is the perfect combination of traditional Spanish with all the mod cons you could ever need and it has obviously been decorated/refurbished to the highest standards, including the pool which was the perfect size for us.

I would not hesitate in giving the villa, it's owners and their local agent 5 stars, totally recommended.

Perfect stay in beautiful villa

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this property. We were two couples and two single people which was easily catered for via Caroline, who was really friendly and helpful in the organisation of our stay. The photos actually do not do justice to how lovely the entire house and garden are. The patio area is perfect for bbqs and eating in a large group with a great view towards Fuengirolo and the sea. The pool was a good size and great for socialising around. The location was perfect, just a few mins taxi ride to Mijas (a local hilltop village) and Fuengirolo for transport links. Everything was finished to a very high standard and we definitely plan to return here in the future.

Beautiful villa

  • 4 of 5

A really special villa, newly refurbished and decorated to a very high standard. Incredible views looking down to Fuengirola and up to Mijas.

Right next to a bus stop with regular buses to and from the two towns so car is not needed. You can walk to Mijas but it is up a steep hill and first short section on a road, we tended to get a bus in Mijas in the evening and then walk back (10-15mins)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and liked the works we have done to upgrade the villa. We bought the villa because of the convenience of being able to get into the village very easily with the beauty of being in a very private and quiet spot with the stunning views.
