Situated in a hamlet at the centre of a working farm, this stone cottage sits in its own fenced and gated grounds featuring garden barbecue, picnic tables, a large lawn and parking for up to 4 cars.

The cottage has been renovated and equipped to a high standard while retaining the character of a french rural home. It is ideally situated to visit the beaches and memorials in both directions along the normandy coast, and to enjoy the medieval atmosphere, shopping and restaurants of bayeux and caen.

Nearby we have coastal cycle paths, local village shops, horse riding, golf, indoor and open-air swimming pools and family friendly beaches with facilities. Street markets take place on sunday mornings in port-en-bessin and in bayeux on saturday and wednesday mornings.

Within easy driving distance of cherbourg (90mins) or ouistreham (45mins) we are at the heart of an area rich in attractions. From the atmospheric mont saint michel in the west to chic deauville and honfleur in the east and the rugged suisse normande to the south, our location is superb for all the family to experience the sights and tastes of normandy to the full. There is truly something for everyone.

Sleeps 6 + baby. 1st floor; 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom. Ground floor; living room, kitchen diner, 1 bedroom, 1 shower room.

Living accommodation is centred on the large sitting room with feature fireplace incorporating a wood burning stove, flat screen television with french tnt channels and cd/radio. Kitchen equipment includes gas/electric hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The shower room also has a wc, washstand and washing machine. A double bedroom completes the ground floor accommodation and double french doors open from the sitting room to the rear courtyard which is a perfect little suntrap and barbecue area.

First floor has 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and a family bathroom with p shaped bath with shower. Heating is by modern electric panel radiators.

Allen has been amazing right from the first enquiry we made his love and passion for the house and the area just shone though. The information provided in a way that was so full of kindness and eagerness nothing was to much bother.

When we arrived this house was more beautiful than what we saw in the photos - it was perfect.

Thanks you Allen for letting us stay and we were very sad to say goodby to the house after our stay, hope to come back next year and explore more.

Over the whole holiday was perfect and we were left speechless on how perfect and beautiful the hose was.

Traditional French home. Very comfy. Great location.

This house is stunning. Very spacious with a large garden in a brilliant location. It was very quiet yet so close to everywhere. It had everything we needed - comfortable beds, well equiped kitchen, heating, masses of hot water! The owner was hugely helpful. 10 days was not enough time to explore everywhere within an hour's drive. It is centrally located for all the landing beaches. Cycling for the children was perfect on the quiet lanes and sandy beach 10 minutes away.

Excellentes vacances en Normandie

Très agréable maison pour de superbes vacances. La Normandie est une région magnifique et nous avons pris beaucoup de plaisir dans les visites des plages du Débarquement.

A notre retour nous étions ravis de trouver le confort de la jolie maison de fontenailles. Un terrain magnifique, une cuisine bien aménagée, un salon agréable avec poêle à bois et des couchagess confortables et chauds.

Our well equipped and beautifully restored 18th century stone-built cottage sits in a small hamlet surrounded by farmland. The modern amenities we have added, including wifi, ensure all the family can enjoy a little bit of French life in a beautiful setting. Local shops, a cafe and restaurant are in the nearby village of Longues sur Mer where a preserved WWII German Battery can be explored on the cliffs with views over the bay from Arromanches to Port-en-Bessin and beyond.
