Why Gail chose Harewood

This house is available for the first time as a private dwelling being formerly part of the famous Harewood Estate, owned by the Earl and Countess Lascelles of Harewood , the Queen's cousin. It was built in 1750 designed by John Carr for the workers on the Harewood Estate. It is a very quaint cottage surrounded by similar properties and has enviable views across the Wharfe Valley at the front.

HOME FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5

Father and son Yorkshire expats from Spain,we took the cottage for a month whilst visiting friends and relatives from Scarborough to Windermere. Superb location betwixt Leeds and Harrogate so we felt immediately at home. Owners made us feel welcome and looked-after by responding straightaway in person to assist with the central heating arrangements for my elderly father. Cosy and comfy henceforward as sunshine streams in to make cottage so light and relaxing to spend time in. Separate utility/boot room invaluable and designated parking space particularly helpful. Busy road noise thankfully/reasonably unobtrusive and does not spoil the great views at all My father (over 90) has requested that we return next year - excellent idea!

Lovely house and great host

  • 4 of 5

We had a really nice stay in Leeds at this house. It was great to arrive to milk in the fridge, bread, eggs and wine available and the fire loaded. All in all we really enjoyed our stay there. The road noise was an issue for us however. We like to sleep with the window open to air the room and this wasn't really possible due to the road noise from Harrogate Road. I appreciated that it is an A road and the main road connecting Leeds and Harrogate but didn't reckon with it being so busy at night. This also impacted on our want to sit in the front garden. I appreciate that there is nothing the owner can do about this, and it might not affect others as it did us due to our habit of sleeping with the window open. The other thing that could have been better was the amount of storage space for clothes. In our bedroom we didn't have a wardrobe and in the daughters bedroom she had a wardrobe with a couple of hangers. We ended up living out of our cases which you don't expect when you are staying somewhere for more than a night or so. The BBQ area was great and the fact that there is charcoal provided in the store cupboard. All in all a good place to stay. Could be great if the wardrobe situation was addressed.

Owner's Response: Harrogate road is an A road which is not hidden in the description of the cottage .The morning sun rises in this direction. The afternoon and evenings are usually enjoyed at the rear either in the courtyard or on the patio. We have never had any complaints about evening traffic noise . There is a double wardrobe to the second bedroom and a chest of drawers and hanging space to bedroom one . There is also a cupboard on the landing with sufficient storage .

Absolutely Wonderful 3 nights in our 'wedding cottage'

  • 5 of 5

We booked this cottage for 3 nights over our wedding weekend as we were getting married in East Keswick. It was absolutely fantastic, couldn't have been happier with our choice of staying here instead of a hotel.

The property is beautiful, wonderful garden, great amenities and a lovely pub a few minutes walk down the road.

The host was very kind and informative leaving us a welcome basket and card for the wedding!

We will be back!

a sweet cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a very beautiful small cottage suitable for 4 people. It is furnished to the highest spec with very comfortable chairs and settee. Excellent decoration everywhere with two delightful sitting out areas. Thoughtful neighbours close by. Visited Muddy Boots cafe. Good food and they make you most welcome. Look out for the Red Kites circling overhead the cottage.

Great find, perfect cottage in a wonderful locatio

  • 5 of 5

This small two bed cottage has everything going for it. Cute and cottagie without feeling your staying in a catelogue! Everything look brand new, except the building which is about 250 years old. So easy - it even has private off road parking and a front garden for the mornings and a patio for the afternoons. Lots of light, lots of sun. Very well equipped with lots of treats in the fridge and thoughtful extras - even the wood burner was set up, ready for lighting. It's even got a burglar alarm.

And the views - magnificent. And you don't even need your car,,the 36 bus goes from Leeds to Harrogate to Ripon every 15 minutes. Harewood House is magnificent and do the 5 Mile circular walk around the estate - must be one of the most beautiful walks ever - and end up at Muddy Boots, the locally run cafe for a full English.,we will def be back.
