About the property

High Haven is a 21st Century architect designed contemporary home. sleeps 4-8

This is a stunning conversion of a thousand year old building by the architect owners who have carefully preserved the character of this medieval treasure whilst creating a generous contemporary home with all the comforts and facilities for modern day living.

Walking around the house you are constantly leaping back and forth across millennia… Beneath the fine old Victorian roof is a spacious and comfortable double-height living area focussed upon the elegant Stuv woodburner by night, and countryside views through the 15th Century windows by day… Beyond the Romanesque Font are the clean lines of a generous dining area overlooked by a modern kitchen specifically designed to include the old oak altar… And overlooking the main entertaining spaces is a mezzanine gallery with two workstations leading to two small bedrooms in the eaves with fantastic views over the Preseli Hills… And if that wasn't enough there is the boutique hotel bathroom allowing you to daydream in the bath looking out through a medieval window!

High Haven sits in good size simple lawn garden - it is in the original churchyard with some gravestones - and because of it's raised position at the head of the valley it has outstanding views of the surrounding countryside to the Preseli Hills.

It is located adjacent to a working farm run by very neighbourly John Brothers and within the tiny hamlet of Lambston just outside the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and in the countryside between Haverfordwest and the coast which are both 3.5 miles away.

This is a fantastic location for exploring the wonderful West Pembrokeshire coastline and its beautiful beaches and coves – only 3.5 miles to the nearest beaches at Nolton Haven and Druidston Haven for horse riding along the beach, and another few minutes to the charming fishing village of Little Haven and the dramatic expanses of Newgale famous for surfing and land yachting. Our favourites are Settlands beach which you can only reach at low tide from Little Haven (very Famous Five!), and 5 miles to the spectacular Marloes Sands (Guardian 'Searching for the Perfect Beach').

There is good walking all around, country walking from the door, also Pembrokeshire Coast Path 3.5 miles away and the Preseli Hills just 15 miles away. For mountain biking and cycling being on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park makes this an ideal base for exploring the west coast up to the beautiful little cathedral city of St David's (14 miles away) famous for it's music and gallery scene.

And lastly...

Our favourite local pub, which is only 3.5 miles away, is the joyous Druidstone Hotel, Pub and Restaurant (Guardian Top 10 Hotels in Pembrokeshire) which has spectacular sea and beach views over Druidston Haven, special feast and music events, and the greatest place to watch the sunset on earth!

About Pembrokeshire NetLet

Charlotte and Adam, and their children Albion and Oran, love Pembrokeshire above all places and have always tried to escape there whenever they could. Then, in 2012, they came across a derelict medieval church and made the dramatic decision (with the help of Adam's mother Jane) to convert it into a house which was a far greater endeavour than they ever imagined. It was not without it's trials, but now thanks to the help of a gifted team of local craftsmen and problem solvers, archaeologists and bat experts, this special place is ready to begin an exciting new chapter in it's 1,000 year old story. They love this place and hope that you will too!

One last thing...the property is looked after by the wonderful and helpful local Penny and Paul Hows of Pembrokeshire Netlet who will be overjoyed to help you with your enquiries.

Pembrokeshire NetLet purchased this cottage in 2012

Absolutely fab place to stay, great kitchen facilities and homely atmosphere. Not too far from the coast (we cycled there) and a great base to explore from. Thank you!

What a beautiful place to stay. This is a building converted with love and attention to detail. Comfortable, stylish and a joy to spend a week there. Perfectly located to explore all of Pembrokeshire and close to some cool and quirky places to eat and drink. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Highly recommeded.

A beautiful place to escape to

  • 5 of 5

A truly beautiful church conversion, the attention to detail both in the restoration and the fixtures, fittings and furniture is stunning.

A holiday home to truly get away from it all in, I could have happily stayed inside everyday and just enjoyed being in the church. It has a great log burner and cosy sofas to curl up in and while away hours with a good book, it's also well equipped for nights in cooking meals. The bathrooms and bedding are hotel standard and you have lovely view from the bath.

It's location is great for exploring the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside, nothing is too far away including great pubs, shops and beaches yet your setting is a lovely quiet rural location away from it all.
