About the property

Though a licensed B & B this letting is for exclusive use of the whole suite

Located at the foot of Tunnel Mountain in Banff, 5 minutes walk from downtown, the Bow river and the Banff Centre. The Banff Bear B&B Suite is the ideal private retreat after a full day of sightseeing, hiking, or skiing, or it can be your quiet hideaway where you can relax, and have some down time.

Sit out on the private deck, like a local, and soak up the glorious surroundings with views of Mount Norquay and Cascade Mountain. On occasion watch the deer and elk that wander the town site and graze on the lawn.

The suite has it`s own private entrance so that you are provided with complete privacy. The suite is yours to use throughout the day.

The Banff Bear B&B suite has a cozy sitting area which offers cable TV and Netflix (on a 40 inch LCD screen) and wireless Internet. There is a dining area and a kitchenette with bar fridge / freezer, microwave, toaster (no stove) and the usual drink making facilities, with complimentary tea & coffee. So you can make yourselves at home and enjoy a night in with a glass of wine and a ready meal.

To comply with the bed and breakfast license some breakfast supplies will be provided.

Each of the light and airy bedrooms has a queen size bed, a closet and an ensuite bathroom with shower.

Whether you are here to enjoy summer activities or on a winter holiday, we would be happy to help you with itineraries, bookings and trip ideas.

Those with severe allergies should note that, though we don`t allow them in the suite, there are two friendly dogs that hang out in the main house and the yard. They do love to say hello to visitors in the constant hope of treats or walks!.

The property is not suitable for children, so we can't accept bookings with children under 16 years of age.

About Richard Norton-Hall

We are Richard and Alison. We are pleased to be the hosts at Banff Bear Bed And Breakfast.

We emigrated from Yorkshire in England in August 2006 and were proud to become Canadian citizens in 2015. We also own and operate the gift store / gallery About Canada, on Banff Avenue. This is a store that is popular with locals as a place to buy neat Canadian made products which are ideal as gifts or for the home.

We originally had the house at Otter Street built in 2008, for us and our 3 children.

The last of the children left home, for school, in 2015. We did not want to move from a house that we love. It is a great house in a perfect location, so we repurposed the ground floor of the house to be a two bedroom bed and breakfast suite.

We now look forward to welcoming you to Banff.

Our stay could not have better. The apartment was so comfortable and stylish and our host, Richard, so friendly and helpful. This was our fourth visit to Banff and our favorite accommodation so far.

Perfect Location and Fabulous accommodations!

The bed and breakfast was very clean and was located just a few blocks from the town of Banff. We walked to town for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the accommodations were perfect for two couples. We had everything we needed and the owners were very helpful in making recommendations and very responsive to our needs. If we ever get the opportunity to go back, I would definitely stay there again!

Ideal Banff location. Very clean. Friendly hosts.

Our first surprise was that we were now staying at a bed and breakfast and not a vacation rental. We had not been notified of these changes. The space provided was clean and comfortable. Kitchen facilities were decidedly lacking. A dorm refrigerator, small microwave, no stove or any other means to prepare a meal. We spent four nights with one set of towels each. Day after day, hiking outdoors and then showering to use the same towels. We actually had to ask for body wash as nothing more than liquid hand soap had been provided.

This was a high end rental. While there were good points, it is not one I would recommend or return to.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. I will try to answer each of your concerns for you, and for the assistance of future guests. You are correct that we operate as a bed and breakfast and as a holiday let. The rental on this site is as a holiday let, there was no change. Our guests often arrive late having had a long journey. As a kindness, despite it being a holiday let and so that they do not immediately have to go shopping, we provide some initial breakfast supplies (milk, cereal, fruit etc). We apologise if you did not like this but future guests should note that we will continue this as we believe it makes your arrival less stressful. Your description of the apartment is accurate and reflects the website description "There is a dining area and a kitchenette with bar fridge / freezer, microwave, toaster and the usual drink making facilities (with complimentary tea & coffee)". I am sorry if that is not as you expected and we will amend our description to say "no stove" so that future guests are not disappointed. (As a note for future guests, people describe different accommodations in different ways. The description of a dorm refrigerator makes it sound like a hostel environment. I would like to confirm that this a self contained apartment with two ensuite bedrooms, kitchenette, living room and a private deck.) With regard to the towels. As requested, we provide a holiday letting, not a hotel, therefore there is not a daily change of towels. If guests are staying more than 4 nights we change the sheets and towels after day 3. When you arrived I advised that we lived upstairs and that if you needed anything just to let me know. I apologise if I did not make this clearer, or if you felt that could could not ask for fresh towels. With regard to toiletries. Again, as a holiday let we do not provide these. However when you asked for some, soon after arrival, I was happy to go and get you some. I apologise for the fact that we did not meet your expectations in this regard either. We hope that you enjoyed your stay in Banff.

Great location, tastefully done!

We spent five nights at Banff bear. The unit is very nice with comfy beds. We did not have a car and walked to town every day. It's only a couple of blocks and close to the river trail and bridge. Owners were very nice!! We would recommend this property.

Lovely property in convenient location

My brother and I stayed for 10 nights in Feb/March. We found it was clean and tidy, helpful owners and very convenient for walking to Banff Avenue for dinner etc.

If we're back in Banff again soon, will definitely look at staying here again.
