About the property

1 bedroom, mid-terrace cottage and garden with rural views in quiet backwater

Inbetween Cottage is situated on the southern edge of the hamlet of Crofthandy, which is in the parish of Gwennap.It is NOT in Gwennap itself . Neither is it in Creegbrawse as this site has suddenly and inexplicately decided to headline it in pop-up ads!.I even had to google where Creegbrawse is myself as I hadn't a clue !.Please don't attempt to go there most locals will never have heard of it.

Crofthandy is close to the villages of St.Day and Carharrack, and 3 1/2 miles from the town of Redruth.

It is, I believe, an ideal base from which to explore an area once described as the richest square mile in the world because of the large copper and tin ore reserves found locally .It's now a world heritage site,criss-crossed by a myriad of walking/cycle trails ,some only 100yds away. However it is equally well placed to access the beaches on both coasts(Portreath 5mls,Falmouth 8mls) and the major towns(Falmouth 8mls,Truro city 7mls).Lands End is about 35 miles away,St.Michaels Mount 20 miles and the Eden Project around 30 miles distant.There are many great gardens to visit and explore within a 20 mile radius.In short there is something for every interest and everybody in Cornwall and all in easy reach from my cottage.

The cottage is light and airy ,greatly benefiting from it's south facing location.It is open- plan downstairs,with a well equipped kitchen containing a washer/dryer,oven+hob,fridge with small freezer compartment,toaster and microwave, a dining area with table and four chairs,and a cosy lounge area with two two-seater sofas,tv/dvd combo,radio etc.The lounge area has a high,exposed beamed ceiling.The stairs lead up to a landing with a double bedroom off,equipped with a double bed ,bedside drawer units with reading lights, a 5-drawer chest and double wardrobe ,all pine,two seats from which to enjoy the view and a wicker hamper containing extra pillows/duvet.The separate shower room,also off the landing, contains a large shower enclosure with a mains pressure,thermostatic shower mixer,vanity basin, heated towel rail and ,of course, a toilet .The ceilings upstairs are also a generous height, unusual in a cottage.This contributes to the light and airy feel of Inbetween.

Dogs are welcome downstairs (stair-gate fitted) and in the enclosed garden.There are off-road dog-walking opportunities along the many footpaths criss-crossing the now largely overgrown,former mining terrain within 100 yards of the cottage.

The south facing garden contains a companion seat ,a picnic table on a paved patio area,a stand to use disposable barbeques on and a lockable shed for bike etc. storage.There is also a rotary clothes airer.Laundry accessories can be found in the cupboard under the stairs with an iron in the under-sink cupboard.There is a storage box for muddy boots just outside the front (and only!) door and a hosepipe with jet nozzle for rinsing muddy doggies or what-you-will just inside the garden gate.

There is free wi-fi,inclusive heating (storage plus imitation wood burner) and electricity,Towels(not beach) and bed linen are supplied.Non smoking indoors.

Parking is available in the road beside the terrace's gardens and is only shared with number 3 and visitors .Lewis and Alison,in number 1 ,generally park alongside their own cottage (Inbetween is number 2).The cottages are set at right-angles to the road,as can be seen in some of the photos.

Inbetween's post code is TR16 5JB.Detailed directions will be released on the Owners Direct site 21 days before your booking is due to start.This is for security reasons.

I've lived in Cornwall for 25 years doing a variety of jobs ,am now retired and enjoy getting out and about exploring ,on foot or bike,the wide variety of landscapes and towns here in west Cornwall,swimming in the sea when the weather permits and canoeing on the larger rivers.I live locally and hope to be able to welcome you when you arrive to show you around Inbetween and answer any questions you may have.

Why Mike Rudolph chose Cornwall

I bought and renovated Inbetween Cottage (finishing in Sept. 2015), and then because I felt that it is in an ideal location for a holiday base and the lovely feel of the cottage I decided to let it as a holiday home as I was sure that others would appreciate the opportunity to spend some time enjoying the very relaxing ambience it provides.Having made that decision I've tried to provide everything needed within and without (I can't guarantee sunshine but there are many indoor attractions to visit!) for a comfortable,hassle free holiday.

My instincts have been confirmed by the many guests who've stayed and very much enjoyed their time at Inbetween and in Cornwall,some of whom have already returned for another stay and I'm delighted to have had a part in making their holiday a success.

What makes this cottage unique

There are rural views to be enjoyed in this quiet location from both the bedroom window or garden.The cottage and garden are south-facing and well placed to benefit from any sunshine on offer.Although the address is "Riverside Terrace" the "river" is a mere stream(hopefully it will stay that way!!) and ,sadly, can't be seen from the house .It runs under the road about 50 yards away and disappears across the fields opposite !.

There is a wealth of all year round cycling/walking trails that can be accessed just across the road from the cottage.It's approx. halfway along a 12 mile, mostly off-road, former mineral tramway trail that runs from Portreath on the North coast to Devoran on the Fal estuary.Carharrack and St.Day are both within easy walking distance, with St.Day being home to 2 convenience stores,2 butchers,2 pubs, a post office and a laundrette.There's an hourly (at peak times), bus service,First Bus No.47,running to Camborne in the West and Truro in the East.The bus calls at Portreath on it's route and can be used for travel back to the cottage after walking the 6 miles along the mineral tramway to Portreath from it.Truro has a wide range of shops ,pubs and restaurants,a museum ,riverside park and walks.There are leisure centres at Truro,Falmouth and at Pool midway between Redruth and Camborne.Pool is also home to the Heartlands Mining Heritage centre and National Trust Mine Engine Houses.

There are ,of course, many beaches, some dog friendly ( list in cottage and on Cornwall Council's website), within easy travelling distance ,Porthtowan being the nearest at around 5 miles away.

If your interest is in gardens and historic houses you won't be disappointed with the many choices available in Cornwall .Leaflets in the cottage for you to look through and take your pick.

What a wonderful find!

What a wonderful cottage this is, the best we have ever stayed in. The highest specification for everything, a real home from home. Such attention to detail, comfy bed, great shower, excellent kitchen and all so clean.

Excellent location, tucked away in a non touristy area yet close to so many great places.

Mike is a lovely chap, who - whilst unobtrusive and allowing quiet enjoyment of the property - will do anything he can to help make the stay an enjoyable one. Nothing is too much trouble for him.

We will return!

Fantastic cosy cottage

Super cottage.

Mike the owner ,was so welcoming and showed us the lovely cottage, he has thought of everything to make a stay there a pleasure.

We stayed during the very hot spell and the cottage was a lovely cool escape from the heat.

A very cozy, clean cottage in a central Cornwall location.

We really enjoyed our stay at Inbetween Cottage in Crofthandy. The cottage was spotless, comfortable and well-appointed with everything we could possibly need. Mike thinks of all the details. We went to Cornwall with plans for doing some walking along the many pathways available. However, this location would also work nicely for day trips to many of the sites in Cornwall. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Owner's Response: I really enjoyed meeting Larry and Cindy,my first guests from America.It was a real shame that their ruby wedding anniversary visit to England didn't allow time for a longer stay in Cornwall.Two nights only gave them a day here, not enough time to even scratch the surface of what's on offer.But at least they can say they've been and one day they may be back for more exploring now they've had a taster,hope so!.

Great central place to explore both coastlines

Clean, comfortable cottage with everything you would need at hand. Lovely welcome and explanation of all amenities by Mike, which were as described and more. Inbetween Cottage is the perfect name as not only middle terrace between two friendly neighbours but also centrally placed between the north and south coastlines. We enjoyed trips to Falmouth, Porthtowan, Truro, Chapel Porth and Gunwalloe Cove, the latter two providing superb coastal walks. Trevaunnance Cove just below St Agnes also worth a visit if you like real ale as tiny microbrewery there! We certainly intend to return and would recommend the cottage for short and longer breaks to anyone.

Owner's Response: Wow ! a big thank you to Ian and Kim for their very generous review.They certainly managed to pack a lot into their short break in Cornwall.I expect they went home for a well-earned rest!. Although,of course, I'm aware of my cottage's convenient location for touring in West Cornwall (hence it's popularity) I'd never thought of it in relation to it's name except as being the centre cottage of three - the inbetween cottage - so well done to them ,another very good reason for calling it Inbetween. I look forward very much to their next visit.

1. The cottage is for holiday accommodation only and must be vacated on the booked departure date at the time specified.

2.All descriptions of the facilities/equipment provided and local amenities available are given in good faith and may be subject to change without notice due to them being outside the owners control.Whilst every effort will be made to replace/repair equipment and update any information provided so as to avoid any disappointment the owner will not be liable for any loss sustained in the meantime.

3.The owner will not be liable for the damage/loss of unattended property belonging to the guest(s) left on the premises.

4.The holidaymaker(s) are expected to treat the cottage,garden,furnishings and equipment with care and respect and to leave it in a clean and tidy condition just as they might expect to find it on arrival.A refundable deposit is retained in respect of this.

5.Guests are expected to behave in a manner that doesn’t disturb the neighbours.Any reports of disturbance will be investigated and guests may be asked to leave without notice if found to be at fault.No refunds will be entertained in these circumstances.
