About the property

Thatched Cottage in Goodleigh near Barnstaple, North Devon, England, UK

Rock Cottage’s 17th century two-foot-thick walls and thatched roof will keep you naturally cool in the summer and snug and warm in the winter. It is situated just outside the centre of a quiet village and 150 metres from the excellent village pub that serves great food and beer all year round. It has two lovely bedrooms, sleeping 4 people, a quaint but very well equipped kitchen and a beautiful lounge with ample seating for all. Outside there is secluded parking for 2/3 cars (depending on size!), an upper patio with rock garden, border, arbour and chairs, steps to either the front of the cottage or to the rear, a lower patio with all-weather dining/craft table with 6 chairs and twin sun-shades next to a raised flower bed with a small hill-path leading from a separate decking area, and finally a wood-store. The cottage is surrounded by stunning countryside and plenty of gentle walks for you and the whole family to enjoy. Whist staying at Rock Cottage you are only 20 minutes from Exmoor and some of the best beaches in the world.

Rock Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Very nice cottage. Every amenity. Stairs are quite steep for anyone with disability. Nice log fire, parking for 3 cars, just, 2 easily, WiFi works well, only 10 minutes drive from Barnstaple. Nice kitchen to cook and eat in. 2 bedrooms each with own staircase access, bath/shower in just one, toilet, handbasin in both.

No shop nearby but great pub with good food 50 yds away.

Good value for money.

Peter is a great host, greeting us & explaining about the property & area.

We were very relaxed & enjoyed the ambiance of a 400 year old property with the woodburner & local pub on hand after long coast walks & cycling the Takka trail which is nearby. We would recommend Rock cottage to everyone.
