About the Manager

We moved to North Devon 18 years ago from London, with our two young children, Olivia now 21 and Sam now 18, Alex was born 2 years later. I worked in Advertising and joined a small regional agency nearby and my wife, Cally is an Accountant and works for the NHS. On the back of the success we had with The Byre I set up my own business My Holiday Marketing, marketing and renting cottages, we now have 65 cottages and a successful online directory site.

Comfortable & Quiet Location

  • 4 of 5

Pro's: Nice comfortable spacious accommodation in quiet location, friendly owner. Would stay again, recommended.

Cons: Wifi limited to 10GB/month - not much for a family with multiple devices. Oven and pans could be cleaner.

A charming cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a fabulous time staying at the Byre - it is a perfect base for a holiday, close to local beaches & local attractions yet in a perfectly quiet unspoilt country location. It is very comfortably furnished to a high standard, well equipped & the whole family, including our dogs, were made extremely welcome. We plan to return!

From the Owner

The Byre was an old barn at the bottom of our garden and as it was falling down we decided to go the whole hog and convert it to a holiday cottage. We retained the lovely round pillars, which give it a French Gites feel. The layout is open plan and bright with lots of glass, wood and stone, so feels very natural.

From the Owner

Apart from a few small steps from one level to the next there are no major stairs so easy to get around for the elderly and small children. It is very relaxed and comfortable and within easy reach of the excellent local pub.
