About the property

Charming countryside cottage sleeping up to 5 in 3 bedrooms

Set in the beautiful countryside just a few minutes drive from Bideford in North Devon is the charming Crooked Lake Cottage, a three bedroom property sleeping up to five.

The 17th century cottage is tucked away in the heart of the North Devon countryside, yet remains within easy reach of not only the pretty market town of Bideford but also the gorgeous North Devon coastline, which is home to some of the country's most loved beaches, including Westward Ho!, which is only a 15-20 minute drive.

Inside, the cottage is deceptively spacious with a good sized living room with multi-fuel burner, a handy conservatory overlooking the garden, a well-equipped kitchen and a separate dining room all located on the ground floor. Upstairs there are three tastefully decorated bedrooms, these include the Master with en-suite bathroom, a pretty twin and a lovely single. There is also a large family bathroom.

Although full of modern day facilities to help make your stay comfortable, Crooked Lake Cottage also has plenty of period features, including open fireplaces and pretty window shutters.

Outside there is plenty of space for everyone in the wonderful gardens. At the rear of the cottage is an attractive enclosed garden complete with a babbling stream and a small wooden bridge, perfect for children to play and explore in complete safety. The garden is also regularly visited by local wildlife. Crooked Lake Cottage also has off-road parking for two cars.

A great cottage . A good location peaceful.

We had a great time. Pete was very helpful and communication with him was excellent. There was everything you needed . The gifts when you arrive was a great greeting after a 3 hour + journey. The only problem I can't use feathered pillows. I was expecting non allergic pillows but there was some in the other bedroom I could use.

Absolutely gorgeous

  • 5 of 5

Immaculately presented, fantastic garden with plenty of sitting out places. WiFi so no Internet worries (if you can drag yourself away from that garden). Owners very welcoming without being intrusive. After a long journey we really appreciated all the little extras like milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh flowers in the rooms. Yes the head hight is a little low but it's a cottage so expected. Very good sized fridge freezer in kitchen and plenty of wood for the log burner. All in all an excellent property.

Not The Best.

  • 2 of 5

No mobile signals in area. TV reception non existent for the full weeks stay Caretaker blamed this on the trees. Very dangerous entry from parking space onto main road. Door openings to low ,most were only 4ft 6ins , 5ft at most, ceiling beam in living room same, Very dangerous, came away with bumps and bruises to the head . Not recommended for 5ft-6in people
