About Bob & Linda Cole

We both grew up in the North East and live here still. We have been regular visitors to Seahouses and the Northumberland area certainly for most of our adult lives. We have holidayed with our children as well as regular day trips in the summer so know these beautiful area's very well. We hope others will enjoy the benefits we love too.

Bob & Linda Cole purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Bob & Linda Cole chose Northumberland Coast

We feel the property is beautifully positioned opposite the Farne Islands and looking North to Bamburgh Castle. and only a 'stones throw' from the beach. We are always rested and refreshed after a visit.

Wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is in a fantastic location for enjoying the beautiful Northumberland coastline. It is just a few minutes walk from Seahouses harbour from where you can take a boat trip to the Farne Islands and walk amongst the nesting seabirds - including puffins. It is literally just across the road from the vast National Trust Bamburgh beach, which we could see from the lounge.

It's not far from Lindisfarne and Alnwick - and Amble where we watched dolphins playing near the harbour. Even though the week was quite rainy, we enjoyed long, light evenings; the break was definitely good for the soul.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed your stay,We have seen the dolphins outside the harbour at Seahouses but they are not guaranteed and that is what makes it special. I am pleased you got to Amble it is not on the normal visits but is rich in its fishing heritage as well as trips to the Couqet island for Puffin viewings. The fish shop called the Harbour but not on it, but close down one of the terraced streets you get the best fish and chips anywhere.

Pleasant stay which suited our requirements perfectly for recharging our batteries with pleasant walks by the sea, interesting places close by to visit and a variety of eateries in close proximity. Feeling rejuvenated once again.Hope to visit the area in the near future.

Fab little place!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, clean apartment just minutes from the beach. Had everything we needed ( apart from a tea towel, but that's easily forgiven). It was the perfect place to stay for a few nights, and easy to find. Would definitely recommend.

Owner's Response: So pleased you enjoyed your stay at Buckets and Spades Katherine - Apologies I forgot to get the tea towels out of the drawer for you I usually leave one on the little pine unit opposite the cooker. If you visit us again they're kept in the drawer there. We look forward to hearing from you when you return to Seahouses thank you for your lovely review of Buckets and Spades. A lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as stated online. It was very well equipped and very comfortable. A good base for visiting places of interest, also a short walk to the town for boat trips and for evening meals. We loved our stay in Seahouses, the people are so friendly and helpful. Northumberland is a beautiful county, I love it.

Buckets and Spades is a great place to stay to explore the Northumbrian Coast

  • 5 of 5

A very well equipped property in a fantastic location SO close to the fabulous beach with great destinations such as Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island and Alnwick Castle and gardens. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. My bed was very comfortable and I slept really well. I rarely say either of those things. You have a view of the sea from a side window. Especially suitable for those with a dog as there is a lawned garden at the back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to place this very positive review of your stay at Buckets and Spades Sarah. We're delighted you slept really well, we've had several people comment about the comfortable beds too. The area is great for dogs as it's very 'dog friendly'. We look forward to hearing from you again if you come back to stay in Seahouses. We were only to happy to be of help to you. Best regards Linda and Bob Cole

First Time in Seahouses

  • 5 of 5

After a long drive up from Buckinghamshire we were greeted by a lovely apartment... and a nice bottle of wine!

Clean, pleasantly decorated and generally of a decent size and with the added bonus of a second bathroom this made for an ideal home away from home for the week. If we had a criticism the kitchen area is somewhat small but it is well equipped so it was not really an issue.

For an apartment with off street parking and so close to the centre of Seahouses (-barely 5 minutes walk) and literally opposite the beach, we found Buckets and Spades to be excellent value for money and should we return to Seahouses, it's where we'd stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review of 'Buckets & Spades' We're glad to hear you enjoyed your week in the apartment and the area after your long drive. As you say the kitchen although small does all that's needed and is well equipped and workable. Unfortunately there is no opportunity to increase it's size - small can still be beautiful as they say!! The 2nd bathroom and dimensions of rest of the apartment, along with the off street parking and proximity to the beach and the village we feel more compensates. We look forward to hearing from you when you return to the area Best regards Linda & Bob Cole
