Detached cottage with large garden in the lovely market town of Belper.

This charming 18th century three storey stone cottage is full of character, with original beams and exposed stone. The lounge has a woodburning stove and the dining room has an open fire. The house has central heating throughout. There is a large, well equipped kitchen with dining space, a walk-in pantry and utility room. Kitchen has range-style cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and freezer. A conservatory overlooking the south-facing garden offers further dining space. There are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom on 1st floor and a further double bedroom on the attic floor. There is a downstairs toilet and cloakroom. There is a good sized garden with patio table and chairs and a shed for storing bikes etc. Off street parking for two cars. Within walking distance of Belper town centre, winner of the 2014 British High Street of the Year competition. Belper train station gives easy access to the lovely Derwent Valley line and to mainline routes from Derby. Belper has a thriving cultural scene, with the Ritz cinema, food and arts festivals and local music venues. Belper also hosts a number of cafes and restaurants, an excellent deli and a handmade artisan chocolate shop - Amber Valley's food town! Further afield, there is easy access to the walks and cycle trails of the Peak district, exploration of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site and a visit to Chatsworth House.

Lovely character cottage

We were a group of 2 families with 3 children under 3.5 years. The house was perfect for us as all the rooms were a great size and there is a lovely garden too which the children enjoyed running around in. We didn't spend much time in the town itself, but it's not far from the cottage and appeared to have all you would need for a holiday - there is also a co-op less than 2 mins walk from the cottage. It's an ideal spot for a holiday in the south Peaks. The owner is also great at responding to emails and questions!

Great place, comfy bed, relaxing.

Had a lovely, relaxing stay. Comfortable bed. Local high street had lovely little places to get lunch or a hot chocolate. Really enjoyed the stay.

Great relaxing stay

The owner is very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Belper has everything we needed as 2 families with small children and slightly older ones. The house has everything needed and is very comfortable. We loved having no tv or internet and the garden kept the kids entertained for hours.

A charming cottage which is well equipped

Four of us stayed in this charming cottage between Christmas and New Year. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warmth and subtle lighting.....a great start to our stay. The kitchen was very well equipped, rooms a good size and very clean throughout. The supermarket (Co-op) is literally five minutes walk away. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you want to relax, this is the place to go!

Visitors to Belper come both because of that market town itself, with its excellent array of individual shops and cafes, and for the wonderful hills of Derbyshire's Peak District.

The town sits on the River Derwent, whose water powered the first mills of England's industrial revolution. There are several historic sites on the river, in Belper itself, and also South to Derby or North to Cromford and Matlock. That town is also worth a visit, for its own riverside walks and for the caves up in the lead mines, accessible on the cable-car from Matlock bath. There are dozens of old, stone Derbyshire towns to visit in addition to these: Wirksworth, Bakewell, Castleton, or the Opera town of Buxton, for example.The many hills and valleys (Dales) offer dozens of fine walking routes for those equipped with stout boots.
