Bramble Cottage is a comfortable and welcoming renovated barn, that has been extended in the past to provide two bedrooms and bathroom off the main open plan living and eating area, in Happisburgh, Norfolk. It sleeps four in two bedrooms and is pet friendly too. The property has some beautiful exposed flint walls, a huge vaulted ceiling in the living area and french doors opening off the main bedroom to the private courtyard garden. Come here to relax, immerse yourself into country living with the sea nearby, but there are so many gems to discover within Norfolk that you are just a short drive away from discovering. Nearby are Happisburgh Lighthouse and East Ruston Gardens, travel a little further to enjoy Cromer Pier, Bewilderwood, Amazona Zoo, National Trust properties, Steam Railways, the Norfolk Broads; there is a wealth of places to explore whilst on holiday. If you can drag yourself away from the many beautiful beaches that is!

1) Short break prices are for 3 night weekends (Saturday to Tuesday), 4 night midweek (Tuesday to Saturday) with flexible bookings between November and March. For all other durations the price quoted may not be accurate, because of the site's technical limitations. We will provide and confirm the correct price by email.

2) Two night stays with a late checkout are available at my short break rate, which is not the nightly price that the site quotes. Please check my website for correct availability and rates.

Why Debbie Copas chose Happisburgh

Happisburgh is a small seaside village, with a very famous lighthouse; the oldest, independent working lighthouse in the UK. Large beaches mean everyone has room even at the peak of the season. If you like old buildings and character, then this property is for you.

What makes this cottage unique

Arriving in this part of rural Norfolk, is a little like stepping back in time; life is slower paced, the locals are friendly and you can enjoy country lanes or walk to the sea! The property is very well placed for exploring much of Norfolk. Travel up and down the coast enjoying the charms of the many seaside villages, take a day boat out and stop for lunch within the Norfolk Broads, or for big city life, take a trip into the beautiful city of Norwich, just 30/40 minutes away. Bramble Cottage is in the countryside but within walking distance of a village that had a a very friendly pub and coffee shop. There are a number of country and seaside walks without having to get into the car.

The dogs adored running on the sandy beaches. It was well placed to explore the local area. The cottage was warm and had everything we needed as well as being easy to keep clean. There was a lovely courtyard garden which meant the dogs could go outside and not get muddy paws.

We went to a number of pubs all within 10 miles and each one was very friendly, and allowed dogs in. We’ll certainly be back!

Notes on accommodation: Short break prices are detailed on my website and are available from September through to April. Summer short breaks can only be booked if any dates are available within four weeks. We welcome up to two dogs for a small charge. Please ask if you have more. Bramble Cottage is a well loved, comfortable family home, with authentic features such as flint walls, beams and a charm that only a 16th century barn can have. Like in all properties of this style, the flint walls do produce some dust that settles immediately after cleaning, the odd nail pops up in the wooden floor needing hammering down and some spiders do take up residence in the beams meaning the odd cobweb will appear despite efficient cleaning each changeover. We hope it will still give you the warm welcome that we want all our guests to experience. :-)

What a gorgeously homey cottage.

Beautiful, old barn cottage with everything you could need for a holiday. Lovely homey feel & vintage bits. Fell in love with the cottage instantly & the views even in the middle of winter are stunning. Lovely & clean, tea, coffee, wine & sugar provided. Lovely roll top bath & a roomy shower. 10mins from the beach (Happisburgh) 15 from Cart Gap beach. Lovely pubs near by. Can't wait until we can come back to stay again.

Exceeded our expectations!

Bramble Cottage is beautiful and exceeded our expectations. We were very fortunate that the weather was good, blazing sunshine all day on Saturday and overcast but dry on the Sunday. The facilities were excellent and we really appreciated the dishwasher as we had friends come for dinner on Sunday. We were really pleased that we got to go to Horsey beach on Saturday and saw the seal pups - 700!! It is a sight I will never forget and are so pleased that we decided to have a December break.

Walking to Walcott in the morning to get the paper via a series of different paths helped us explore the area. Tess (our dog) was in her element at these times.

We look forward to booking with you again next year.

Car: necessary


Car recommended for this destination but there are enough local facilities within walking distance for a short break. Train service to Norwich and then a local service to North Walsham. Taxis available from the station, approx 7 mile drive to the property. Bus service weekdays only. Nearest airport Norwich International 20 miles away. Car Hire available at the airport from Avis, Hertz and Europcar.


We are ideally placed to explore the many seaside towns along the Norfolk Coast, including Cromer, Sheringham and Great Yarmouth, the Norfolk Broads or to the beautiful city of Norwich.

Cromer is 30 minutes away where you will find it's historic pier with a fabulous theatre as well as the lifeboat station. See a show, go crabbing or enjoy fish and chips at No 1, high on the town overlooking the pier. Travel 15 minutes further up the coast to Sheringham and enjoy a steam train ride! Go down the coast to the beautiful beach of Sea Palling, explore the pretty village of Winterton and go and see the seals at Horsey Beach. Great Yarmouth with its many attractions and shows is approx 40 mins south down the coast.

Venture out in the car to Smallsticks Cafe (40 minute walk) Walcott, Bacton or many villages inland and there are lots of dog friendly places to visit and eat at.

You will find everything you need at the three nearest towns, North Walsham, Stalham and Cromer. Local farm shops, banks, chemists, supermarkets, pet shops, markets and more.

Norfolk is full of places to visit, with something around every corner for all the family, young to old and including the family pet. We have lots of information on our website, so once you've booked, do go browsing and decide what you plan to do during your stay with us. There's so much you'll need to come back another time and indeed we have many happy returning guests, now we have been in business for six years!

National Trust properties include Blicking and Felbrigg Hall and the beautiful Sheringham Park. For walkers, try Bacton Woods inland or walk along the coastal path. Children will simply enjoy the beach or take them to Bewilderwood, Amazona Zoo, Pleasurewood Hills, or the many activities in Great Yarmouth.

Visit the seals at Horsey or take a boat trip to Blakeney. Climb Happisburgh Lighthouse on one of its open days, or simply take photos from nearby. Norfolk is a photographers dream! Steam trains, museums, gardens, cinemas, sports facilities, nature reserves - there's everything you could wish for in whatever makes your perfect holiday.
