Les Hirondelles (the Swallows) is named after the birds that swoop gracefully above the valley in the warmer months. It is perfectly situated at the foot of the children's nursery slope and sledging slope, so is virtually ski-in, ski-out, and it's just a 50-metre walk from the ski school meeting point. It offers a superior standard of accommodation with exposed beams and fireplace, and has spectacular views across the Tarentaise valley to the Aiguille Rouge and Mont Pourri mountains.
Frontline sur la Montagne are luxury, wood- and stone-built Savoyard ski apartments, in a fantastic ski in - ski out location at Sainte Foy ski resort. They have spectacular views across the Tarentaise valley to the Aiguille Rouge and Mont Pourri mountains, and are right at the foot of the pistes. As they are private homes, the properties have a very high quality of furnishings and equipment throughout with plenty of storage space. There's very efficient electric heating and plenty of hot water. A good selection of books, videos, and games are provided. Please note that the chalets are strictly NON-SMOKING.
Ski schools and children: Ski schools: The ESF ski school is like many other things in Ste Foy: small, friendly and intimate! The instructors in the ESF have a great record of successful teaching of our friends, family and guests. We can also arrange off-piste instruction and guiding.
Children: The Frontline sur la Montagne properties are a particularly suitable base for a holiday with children being perfectly placed to ski in probably the most child friendly resort in the world: Ste. Foy! Ski passes for the under 7’s are free.
Your children can be entertained and cared for by our private nanny service or the well equipped crèche which takes those over 3 years and can link up with the ski school. Ste Foy is a resort where parents can ski with the peace of mind that their children are in good hands.
Non skiers: Non-skiers are well catered for with facilities for cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, dog-sledding, ice-climbing, ice-fishing, ice-skating and swimming nearby. Or why not just relax on the sunny balcony at the Chalet, and leave the strenuous activities to others. Shoppers will enjoy a stroll around the shops and weekly markets at the major resorts.
Summer: There are numerous walking and mountain bike routes in the area, to suit all levels of ability. In the peak summer months of July and August, many of the ski lifts in the neighbouring resorts of Les Arcs, Val d’Isère and Tignes are open to cyclists and walkers to allow access to the high mountains without the hard work of climbing them! For walkers, we are also very close to the Vanoise National Park with its unique and varied flora and fauna.
In addition to walking and mountain biking, there are numerous other activities available within easy reach, including river sports (canoeing, white water rafting, hydro speeding, cannoning), skiing, golf, horse riding, tennis, fishing, bird watching and rock climbing. Cultural interests include the Baroque church trail, the local Vins de Savoie vineyards, concerts in a variety of venues and many local fêtes which take place throughout the summer.
Bed linen, towels and end-of-stay cleaning are included.
Catering services available in the winter season.
The apartment is ideally situated at the bottom of the piste, and the lift is only 100 metres of gentle down hill ski away. The small, but adequate, village supermarket is just across the road and breakfast croissants are virtually next door. The undercover car parking space is reasonably sized and easy to access.
The apartment was spacious and comfortable, with the open fire and view of the mountains. The only quibble was that the kitchen area was rather cramped. It was quiet at night, apart from some early morning noise from the groomers.
We enjoyed our stay there, Sainte Foy is a small resort, but there is a good variety of runs for people of all levels from beginner to advanced. When we were there it was very quiet and we often had the pistes entirely to ourselves, which was a great experience.
A great location next to the slopes with underground parking. The rooms were nice and spacious. Super view from the balcony over to Mount Pourri. The kitchen was fine - perhaps a few more cups and glasses. The food provided at dinner by the Auberge & Chalets Sur La Montagne was lovely. We liked the fact we could do our own thing for breakfast but could choose some nights to have dinner cooked for us. The fire was an added bonus. Thank you
Absolutely perfect! Truly a ski-in/ski-out location. Everything inside the chalet was exceptional and there was plenty of space for all of us. The parking garage worked exceptionally well (and we didn't have to remove the luggage carrier).
We can't say enough good things about Ruth and the ski tech (sorry -- we can't remember his name...but the girls do remember he was an underwear model in the U.K). They greeted us upon arrival and fitted the kids with skis. Amazing service! Thank you for what has been our most enjoyable trip to the Alps to date. See you next year!
