About this property

Typical Asturian House For Up To 6+ People With Private Garden

A typical Asturian house in a tranquil village 1 km from Arriondas and 7 km from the beautiful town of Cangas de Onis.

The house is fully centrally heated and has 3 floors. The first floor is a spacious open kitchen, dining room, living room with fully fitted kitchen, fully furnished seating area, 32" flat screen TV with cable and access to English Language , DVD player and Ipod docking station

The second floor has 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with 2 single beds) a west facing balcony adjoins the double bedroom and there is a fully fitted, large shower room and toilet on the same floor

The top (attic) floor has been converted into an open plan large bedroom with en-suite toilet and sink (this can be used to sleep 3 people as there are 3 single beds there).

There is a large, private garden with a terrace as well as a newly added, secluded BBQ/Firefpit/large seating area half way down the garden that gets the best of the sunshine and stunning views of the surrounding landscape all day

The house is set in the small, friendly village of Romillo which is less than 1km from Arriondas and 7km from Cangas de Onis. It has beautiful views of the surrounding hillside and the Camino de la Reina passes by the house.

It's ideally situated to offer a secluded countryside feel but within easy reach of the town and all the surrounding attractions. There is wonderful walk over the hills via San Martin de Bada to Cangas de Onis. You gain entrance to Romillo via the village of Ozanes which is on the Oviedo road just outside of Arriondas. Cross the small railway line, cross the bridge over the river and head up the hill 500 metres until you reach the entrance to Romillo on the right hand side. On entering the village go up the hill and it's the first large house on the right side. Arriondas is a great functional town with supermarkets, bars and restaurants.

Arriondas also has a municipal swimming pool and a large park area with views of the Picos. The coastal road is the same road that you enter Ozanes on but in the opposite direction to Oviedo...You will arrive in Ribadesella in under 20 minutes where you will find a beautiful harbour town with great food and lovely coastal walks.

The region is famous for a host of outdoor activities, including canoeing, horse riding, quad biking, and hiking. It is ideal for all lovers of the outdoors with stunning walks all around the surrounding hillside as well as being close to the coast. In 20 minutes you can be in the Picos de Europa, via the Basillica at Covadonga and the tomb of King Pelayo and on to the mountain lakes in The Picos, with some utterly breathtaking scenery.

Cangas de Onis is the central town in the area, is a ten minute drive from the house and is famed as the first Capital of Spain. Great food, friendly people, a vibrant Sunday market and the Roman bridge are just some of the charms of the town. There is also the town of Cabrales nearby, where the famous blue cheese is produced. There is a cave tour that shows you how the cheeses are made. Also in the region is the famous funicular railway up to the mountain town of Bulnes. The Region is packed with wonderful little towns, some of the best food Spain has to offer and it's a breath of fresh air for those that have not experienced " Green Spain "

Great location
This house was in the perfect position for us - beautiful views, walks from the door, so close to the Feve station and trips to the coast, and river swimming. We had a fabulous time - one of our best stays in Asturias (we’ve been travelling in this region for many years)!

lovely home in beautiful spot
Very cosy, everything you need in terms of bedding, cooking utensils, outdoor space. I loved falling asleep to the gentle sound of cowbells in the distance. Trevor was a pleasure to communicate with and genuinely cared about our ease of check-in & check-out and enjoyment of the home.

Lovely old house in beautiful Asturian countryside
Spent a week at Trevor's house with my family in June. It's a really lovely place to stay. A traditional old house in a very small and friendly village with wonderful views and countryside all around. No sound at night but the wind in the trees and an occasional dog barking. The downstairs kitchen/dining/living area works really well as a space to spend most of our time as a family, and we ate outside whenever we could - the views from the terrace were too nice to miss. Kitchen well equipped with everything you need to cook. Beds are comfortable and the old shutters of the house add both charm and functionality - keeping out the light extremely well - more lie-ins than we were used to... A 5 minute drive to restaurants, bars and a good supermarket in Arriondas, 20 minutes or so down to the motorway or coast at Ribadesella, 30-45 minutes to the northern Picos and about an hour or so to Ovideo. Ideally located for exploring all corners of eastern and central Asturias. Excellent communication and support from Trevor before, during and after our stay. Many thanks - would highly recommend and definitely go back some day!

A lovely place to stay
We had a great time here. The property was very comfortable and can accommodate 7 with relative ease. The terrace behind the house enjoys wonderful views: it's very pleasant barbecuing out there. Arriondas is very handy for shops, as is Cangas, a very busy and interesting town. Ribadesella is a must to visit: 20 odd minutes down the road, it has a tremendous beach and promenade, with a great selection of cafes and restaurants. Canoeing down the Sella is brilliant: even we (in our 60's) managed the 15k with ease. Walking brilliant too but research in advance. Try the Lakes above Covadonga (avoid the village) but watch for the road up there! And, finally, visit El Chigre d'Arenes for cheap as chips steak, lovely welcome and fine views.
