The village of Villemain is situated in one of the sunniest parts of France and close to the town of Chef Boutonne where there are two Supermarkets, restaurant, cafes and Patisseries, Boulangeries, along with the weekly fresh produce market on Saturdays. Renovated to a high standard this detached Maison de Maitre has three bedrooms, the main bedroom has a super king bed and ensuite shower room, there is a king size bedroom and a bedroom with two double size beds that share a family bathroom. This arrangement makes the house ideal for families, also offering extra accommodation for friends and other family members. A spacious living room with English TV and DVD player provides a comfortable place to relax. Also on the ground floor is a large utility room with washing machine, clothes dryer and microwave/vacuum/iron. The main entrance to the house faces the large private terrace and pool area with high quality security fencing to prevent access to small children. The private pool benefits from a shallow end, perfect for younger children and a deep end for keen divers, beyond nightly covering to retain heat the pool is self regulating and professionally maintained. Adjacent to the pool is a BBQ area furnished with tables and chairs to enable al fresco dining - breakfast,croissant or dinner with a glass of wine and there is also a covered area for those hot summer days when/if you prefer to dine in the shade. The surrounding grounds encompass a large accessible paddock area and pretty views out to the countryside.

We bought the house initially as our family holiday retreat and have enjoyed many family holidays here and hope to continue to do so. We have renovated the house to a high standard over the years and have installed a beautiful pool with a filter injection system which maintains the high quality crystal clear water without overloading it with chlorine.

Chef Boutonne is the source of the Boutonne River, which is popular for fishing. The site of the remains of the Chateau de Chef Boutonne is a place to get panoramic views over the countryside. There is a traditional market each week on a Saturday at La Place Cail. Close-by is the Chateau de Javerzay, a 16th century castle built in the Renaissance style and housing the Musee de la Coiffe (400 period bonnets and hats). There is a park with picnic facilities and a small lake close to the Chateau that offers fishing by permit. Also at Javerzay is the 12th century church and listed building L'Eglise Saint-Chartier, and the 19th century wash house, formerly the site of a fountain spring.There are two Supermarkets, one opens on Sunday mornings, Patisseries, Boulangerie, Restaurant and cafes.
