This charming traditional home in the friendly, picturesque village of Lochcarron is the perfect place to enjoy a carefree Highland holiday. Set among the spectacular beauty of Wester Ross, it will appeal to couples, families and groups of friends alike. Runrig is in a lovely spot - situated on a quiet side street beside the shore, it has uninterrupted views of the loch, mountains and nearby island with a scattering of rustic stone barns, whitewashed cottages and patchwork crofts round about. The house, which is new to the letting market in Summer 2015, has been thoughtfully decorated and showcases the owner’s artwork. It is well equipped with modern conveniences whilst retaining a number of original features. Down stairs accommodation comprises sunny porch; welcoming lobby; 2 living rooms with loch side views, one with wood burner, TV &DVD and the other with traditional decorative fireplace, electric stove and writing desk; dining/sunroom, bathroom with overhead shower, homely country kitchen & utility room with views to the extensive rear garden. Upstairs there a 3 bedrooms, all with loch views (king, single cabin and twin with guest bed) plus convenient cloak room on the landing. Outside, the large secluded garden is perfect for play or relaxation and has ample outbuilding storage and private parking. With a good selection of amenities, including award winning shops, Lochcarron which is situated on the North 500 tourist route is an ideal central base for exploring this magical, unspoilt corner of the North West Highlands, the famous Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) and nearby Isle of Skye. Sailing, fishing, cycling, hill walking, wildlife and heritage are all on the doorstep for outdoor and cultural enthusiasts and stunning scenery and tranquillity for those who simply want to escape & relax…

As Good as it Gets!

We're just back from a week's holiday in Runrig Cottage, and rate it as one of the best holidays we've ever had. The good weather certainly helped, but the house itself, and its stunning location were huge factors as well. Clean, comfortable and spacious, with every amenity needed to create a relaxing stay, we will definitely return! The house contains many examples of the owner's impressive artwork, all of which capture the atmosphere of the highlands in varying weather conditions. We picked up our keys to the house from the owner's mother, who is Lochcarron born and bred, and who greatly enhanced our stay with her personal recollections of growing up in the village. We felt at home from the very start.

The village of Lochcarron is very picturesque, with great views over the loch from all angles. We enjoyed drinks at the local pub, and had coffee and fine meals at cafes and restaurants in and around the village. Particular mention goes to the Carron Restaurant near Attadale, where we had a great meal, with friendly service. We visited Applecross via the Bealach Na Ba (Pass of the Cattle), Shieldaig, Torridon. Plockton and other nearby villages. All offered great scenery and places of interest, whether a cafe, shop or gallery.

We would definitely recommend a holiday (perhaps several) at Runrig Cottage!

un très joli cottage bien situé

Une petite maison confortable, bien équipée et très joliment décorée, avec les beaux tableaux de la propriétaire. Accueil sympathique par sa maman.

L'endroit est très agréable avec sa vue sur le Loch Carron et nous avons apprécié sa position, nous permettant de visiter le Wester Ross et ses magnifiques paysages. Depuis là, on peut aller à Plockton, Applecross, au loch Torridon, sur l'île de Skye, voir le Eilean Donan Castle et plein d'autres choses.

Amazing - Surrounded by Incredible Peacefulness and Beauty with truly wonderful hosts

RunRig was a truly amazing place to stay. Sheila and her Mom were very graciousness hosts. The house has plenty of room for 5+ people, was very clean, and stocked with all amenities needed. If you are traveling to the Highlands, put Lochcarron and Runrig on your "must see" list. The place has such a peacefulness, with raw rugged beauty and intimacy all at the same time. I will definitely return. It's also close to Applecross Penninsula, which is an awesome tour. Isle of Skye is nearby as well - well worth visiting.

Cottage charmant et confortable dans paysage magnifique

Nous recommandons ce joli cottage, décoré avec goût, très bien équipé. Une literie de qualité, important de le noter car cela est loin d'être le cas de toutes les locations que nous avons réservées jusqu'à present. Tout le necessaire est prevu pour passer un sejour confortable. Face au cottage, chaque jour on se regale du paysage qui s'offre à nous....la lumiere est splendide et même lorsque le ciel se couvre, la vue reste un plaisir....couchers de soleil, levers du jour, formidables!

Le bourg de Lochcarron est accessible facilement, en voiture mais aussi à pied (environ 20 à 25mn). On y trouve une superette spar, une banque (distributeur de billets), un pub, un garage (location de voitures aussi), des restaurants (bon breakfast copieux au Waterside Café, diner copieux au Lochcarron Bistrot, diner au pub moyen mais plutôt pour boire un verre).

Les balades sont faciles d'accès puisque Lochcarron est situé sur le Wester Ross trail, on recommande la route impressionnante qui mene à Applecross....à decouvrir absolument et en prenant son temps surtout! Et puis bien sûr, il faut se rendre sur l'ile de skye, de belles balades à pied en perspective (Cuillins Hills entre autres pour notre part). Pour les balades proches du cottage, nous avons decouvert des sentiers aménagés tout au bout de la petite route dans la continuité de Church street (au dessus du cottage), il faut aller tout au bout, apres les ruines du chateau Strome. Attention aux tics en cas de balades sur des sentiers non balisés....et aussi les midges (un produit est en vente au Spar, 7livres environ, et ça marche plutôt bien mais en mettre systématiquement pour ceux comme moi qui attirent les bestioles qui piquent). La region d'Inverness, celle la moins fréquentée, nous a bien plu.

Et pour finir, quelques mots au sujet des charmantes personnes que sont Neilila, maman de Sheila, Sheila elle-meme bien sûr, les proprietaires de ce petit coin de paradis dont nous gardons un tres bon souvenir. Tres bon accueil, courtoisie, chaleur, echanges simples et intelligents...une belle representation du peuple écossais! Tres heureux de notre rencontre avec ces belles personnes! En général, les ecossais que nous avons rencontrés tout au long de notre sejour etaient très sympa.

Nous pensons retourner à Lochcarron avec grand plaisir!

Séjour très agréable dans un cottage charmant

Le cottage de Sheila est un endroit vraiment très agréable, chaleureux, très bien équipé, où nous aurions volontiers passé plus de temps. La maman de Sheila qui nous a accueillis est tout à fait sympathique. Un séjour parfait. Encore un grand merci.
