About the property

E1597

A cosy, countryside cluster of self-catering farm cottages close to Hartland Abbey and a heart-thumpingingly wild stretch of the South West Coast Path. Very child and dog-friendly, with Atlantic views from the play area, pet animals, hot tub, sauna, woodburners, private outdoor spaces and barbecues.

An easy-going, secluded place for country lovers to unwind, with or without their children and dogs. Come for simple things like silence, clean Atlantic air, star-gazy skies and Scrabble by the fire. Walkers love the wild, craggy beauty of the South West Coast Path around the Hartland Peninsula. Surfers take to the waves at the slightest opportunity. Everyone gathers at Hartland Quay, for sunsets, swimming, and a pint at The Wreckers. And there’s plenty to visit too – Gardens, galleries – cream tea rooms of course - steeply cobbled Clovelly, and Lundy Island - a helicopter hop from the Point or a boat trip from Bideford.

About Annie Shillito

The 6 of us: Annie Shillito & Quentin Craven, Vicky & Ian Irving and their young children, live in Cheristow Farmhouse and look after our guests in the cottages and the animals down by the pond. We've 3 cocker spaniels between us and your well-behaved dogs are very welcome too. We hope you will all enjoy being here and exploring the area as much as we do.

Annie Shillito purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Annie Shillito chose Torridge

We wanted to live somewhere wild and beautiful, yet not too far from a small town and engaging people - Cheristow fits the bill!

It's close to a craggily dramatic stretch of the South West Coast Path, not far from sandy beaches and the walk to Hartland, through ancient woods, takes about 20 minutes (to drive there takes 5)

What makes this cottage unique

We came here for simple things like silence, clean Atlantic air, star-gazy skies and the wild, craggy beauty of the South West Coast Path around the Hartland Peninsula. So, there's great walking and surfing, swimming and sunsets and there’s plenty to visit: gardens, galleries, cream tea rooms, steeply cobbled Clovelly, and Lundy Island - a helicopter hop from the Point or a boat trip from Bideford. We're 15 miles from both Bude and Bideford, 3 miles (10 minutes drive) off the A39; well-placed for exploring North Devon and North Cornwall.
