About this property

From the outside this is an imposing building with a rich history of accommodating officers of French law, but as you step into the beautiful reception area, be prepared for a surprise.

There are 4 two bedroom apartments, all spacious with king, queen or twin beds, well-equipped kitchen and large bathroom. Outside there's a private balcony and shared used of the large pool - with a shallow end of children

It's a great conversion of an old, stone, village building and one of the biggest surprises is to find such a large pool area, hidden from view of the village. Again take a look at the photos to get an idea of the great views and privacy of this property.

Within a few minutes walk of the apartment are shops, cafes, ice cream parlour, general store, restaurants, electric bike hire, tennis courts and a weekly market.

The winding roads of the Luberon, with spectacular views, are great to explore and you'll find loads of picturesque villages (Gordes, Menerbes, Maubec) on the doorstep.

Just a short drive away there's a great Sunday morning market at Coustellet and the larger town of Apt is only 15 minutes away.

There's loads to do and see in the area; St Remy-de-Provence, famous for its Roman architecture, Les Baux with its ruined castle and unique rock formations, L'Isle sur la Sorgue, famous as an antique centre and market. Also within easy reach are Pont du Gard, Avignon with the Palace of the Popes, Marseille with its famous waterfront, the Amphitheatre at Nimes and the cultured avenues of Aix-en-Provence.

If activity is your thing, this area is perfect for climbing, cycling, mountain biking, trekking, golf, tennis and swimming.

The village of Bonnieux has a rich and varied history and is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the Luberon.

In summer the village is really popular and therefore has some great restaurants and cafés. Although not very big, it has some useful and interesting shops, including bakers, butchers, grocery, pharmacy, post office and tourist information centre. There's also a local market on a Friday.

A lovely French apt with a wonderful rustic charm

The location is stunning and the apartment within the old gendarmerie was lovely, with a beautiful pool and views. It is immaculately kept and Christian was exceptionally helpful and friendly from the moment we called en-route from the airport, offering guidance throughout our holiday, which enabled us to maximise our experiences in only a week. We had a wonderful time and certainly hope to return.

Perfect Spot among thousands

We travelled by car from Barcelona to Bonnieux. A very easy and pleasant drive and were welcomed by the Manager Christian with open arms. Nothing was too difficult and he made our stay very memorable. The accommodation was perfectly positioned in the middle of the town close to restaurants (a couple were outstanding), shops and the many historic buildings that attracted us to Bonnieux and surrounds in the first instance. Our room was spacious, clean with excellent views of the countryside and a lovely pool to cool down in after a day exploring all the local villages. Our trip to the South of France was absolutely enhanced by our stay in Bonnieux and the Old Gendarmerie. I would thoroughly recommend this property to any visitors thinking of staying in Bonnieux or the Luberon for that matter!!

Lovely apartment in perfect setting

The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. It is ideally located in the heart of the village of Bonnieux which is a stunning village in the Luberon. The shared pool was magical and we loved sitting on the balcony in the evening, watching the sun go down. Bliss! We will be back.

Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful setting.

We had a wonderful week in The Old Gendarmerie 2 in Bonnieux. The setting is fantastic, a beautiful village which gives you a true feeling of life in Provence. The accommodation gave spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and was situated in the heart of the village. The apartment, overlooking the shared pool, was lovely- clean, tidy and well equipped. Christian, the manager, was on hand to help with any queries and was extremely hospitable and welcoming. A wonderful experience, I am missing the place already!

Breath taking Bonnieux and appartment

The appartment was everything and more than expected. It had the feel of Provence through and through. The situation in the village was great. Handy for everything including a mid afternoon stroll from the pool side to the ice cream parlour. It was just fantastic

We loved the super old fashioned french bakery at walking distance and the apartment was lovely! Nice views, nicely shaped rooms, tasteful and useful decor and fit out! Oh, and our kids loved the pool!
We liked it a lot! The village is sweet, the apartment was nice, christian, the concierge was sweet and attentive. The area is beautiful. No complaints! it was all good (except for the boiling hot temperatures... but that`s climate change, hei, and nothing to blame a holiday destination for... ??)
