Excellent multi generational holiday house
Our party consisted of 21 people ranging from 6 months to 79. All bedrooms were comfortable and warm and the teenagers slept in the bunk bed room and were happy with that. Well planned and functional kitchen with most gadgets we required and much crockery. Dining room excellent for evening suppers and living rooms very comfortable. Most bathrooms were excellent. Grounds and playthings for children both on lawn and courtyard were great. I would recommend more toys and games for the under 8s.

Countryside near the sea
A spacious house, very well equipped and with plenty to occupy folk of all ages. A few slight hiccups with plumbing and electrics, but ideal for large family parties.

Family House
Great place for 3 generations to gather. Despite torrential rain for the whole stay we were still able to enjoy the outdoor facilities of play barn, courtyard and table tennis barn. Highly reccommended

Characterful house ideal for large family get together
We really enjoyed our stay at Lowood. It was very exciting to spend time in the house. It felt like a mixture of a boutique hotel, rambling historic house, welcoming family home and activity holiday. Our party ranged from 2 1/2 twins, 10 year old, 2 teenagers, their parents, 80 year old grandma plus two dogs. It worked well for all of us. We particularly liked the enclosed courtyard where we had an 80th birthday party and lots of games of ping pong. We would thoroughly recommend the property. All processes were straightforward.

About the host

John and Tracy have worked and lived all over the world and have always enjoyed interesting places with lots of experiences to offer.

Why they chose this property

Lowood is an old 1823 farmhouse set in 4.5 acres of well maintained garden and fields, with a river running along the fields. Both of us fell in love with this house straight away. It combines personal comfort with space. Our kids spend hours playing outside on the climbing frame, croquet, badminton, paddling in the river and so on. The wooded area houses a lot of local flora and fauna, providing much for adults and children to explore. The local environs contain everything anyone could wish for, from the most sedentary to the most active. The house itself is on the edge of Roadwater, so although we are on the edge of the village, it feels like we're in the middle of the country, a perfect balance.

What makes this property unique

The unique benefits of this property are 4 acres of garden/field, access to 200m of the Washford river to paddle in (it's only about 2 feet deep).
