About Georgia Faulkner

Brian is the local veterinary surgeon and Georgia works alongside him in the practice. They have two school-aged children a dog, Bear, and 3 pet sheep - Tillykins, Luna and FG.

Georgia Faulkner purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Georgia Faulkner chose Woodbridge

We have lived around the Woodbridge area for many years, enjoying the proximity to river, forest, heathland and coast. We fell in love with the gardens and grounds of Hacheston Lodge. The village location is wonderfully convenient for local amenities and close to the A12 and A14 for access to London and the Midlands

What makes this cottage unique

Lodge cottage is very close to places of interest nearby. Framlingham, Woodbridge, Sutton Hoo, Snape Maltings, Orford, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh, Southwold, Walberswick, RSPB Minsmere and Dunwich are all a short drive away. There is a railway station in the next village of Campsea Ashe, with trains to Woodbridge and Ipswich. There are regular trains from Ipswich to London which means that day trips to the Capital are possible. Coastal and heathland walks, castles and cycling through the picturesque Suffolk villages and country lanes are just part of the pleasure, as are visiting friendly local pubs and restaurants. Come to Coastal Suffolk to get away from the crowds.

Idyllic home from home in beautiful countryside with full amenities and plenty to see in the area.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is stunning, set in a large acreage that is beautifully maintained. It is very quiet and you definitely have your privacy being away from the public. The cottage is set within the grounds of the house belonging to the local vet, Brian, and his wife, Georgina. Well behaved dogs are warmly welcomed and positively encouraged and in fact their own dogs, Bear and Ellie, will drop by to play and be fussed over.

Inside, the cottage is very tastefully decorated and has had a fantastic facelift in all the bedrooms and the family bathroom. It really has been done well. The beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms are bright, fresh and airy. The living room is huge and with windows and doors on all sides you can really enjoy the natural light and the through summer breeze. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need as does the utility room. There is also a shower room which greatly relieves the pressures of a big family trying to use one bath room.

The huge bonus to this cottage is the heated swimming pool. Set at a constant 30 degrees it's very easy to get in to and very pleasant to use. What you have to remember is that this is actually the owner's pool but they very generously share it with very good set times. We've been to properties with owner pools that we have not been allowed to use, at far higher prices than Brian and Georgina charge, so to have had the use of this pool, which made the holiday, was a real gem.

Brian and Georgina are lovely people. Generous, kind and accommodating you feel that they can be approached if you need something. Brian has a great sense of humour and some great stories and it's clear he loves his work. We spent some really pleasant time sharing a drink and having a chat.

The surrounding area is wonderful. Suffolk is a treasure of a county with so much to do and see for all ages. You won't go short on pubs for fantastic food but you also have the knowledge that at the cottage there is a great kitchen and a fantastic coals bbq. There is so much history, so many good walks, National Trust sites, rivers, lakes and the sea that if you want fresh air you will be catered for. Likewise there are some lovely towns and villages with a lot of character. We stay in both the U.K. and go abroad. If you have the weather, the U.K. and Suffolk in particular won't let you down.

At the end of a day exploring we were safe in the knowledge that we were going "home" to a cottage full of character. A great stay.

Fabulous cottage in a fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

We have had a lovely half term break in this wonderful location. Our dogs have enjoyed the surrounding walks. Our granddaughter has had a grin on her face all week. Loved the local park and play area as well as great day trips out to Framingham Castle, Orford Castle, Aldeburgh Beach, Southwold Maize Maze and lots more!! So much to do here for all generations.

The accommodation was clean and well maintained and had everything we needed. The owners two dogs were so friendly and my granddaughter enjoyed playing with them.

We will definitely be returning to his cottage in the future!

Lovely setting, comfortable, home from home.

  • 4 of 5

Our 2nd visit to this property but 1st with new owners. Most noticeable changes were the grounds being tidied and fenced which made it nice and secure for our Collie who had a great time, and the upstairs bathroom had been moved and was brand new, certainly a super improvement, We were able to take advantage of pool and barbecue during our week which we enjoyed. Bedding and towels clean. Handy having dishwasher, washing machine and dryer too. Nice touch receiving a welcome gift. Was welcomed by owner who showed us round on arrival.

Fabulous Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage & Grounds

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Brian & Georgia for the lovely welcome pack & help throughout our stay. The layout of this lovely cosy Cottage is Fab & has everything you could wish for. The beds were so comfy, we all enjoyed a few well earned lie-in's! The pool was lovely and warm, a real bonus to our holiday.

We loved the utility room for our 2 Miniature Schnauzers Abe & Eve. The grounds & the path through to the park was our absolute favourite. The dogs were in heaven weaving in & out of the trees, chasing the rabbits & squirrels and of course saying hello to Bear on the odd occasion. Mum (80yrs old this year) thought she was in heaven too strolling around the lovely grounds.

This is our first time in Suffolk. We were amazed how dog friendly it is & thoroughly enjoyed eating out in some of the Cafe's & Pubs nearby. Their is so much to do & see; thanks to the help of all the maps, books & tourist information provided.

Our family & doggies would never forgive us, if we didn't return & a perfect excuse for Hubby to bring his bike again for some more fabulous rides in this beautiful countryside!

We will definitely be booking for 2017 & hopefully a few more years to come. See you soon.

Fantastic property and brilliant hosts!

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous holiday in this quirky upside down (Bedrooms downstairs) property. The owners were very helpful and welcoming both before and during our stay, without being intrusive at all. Lovely welcome treats waiting for us too, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The huge lounge was very comfortable with a nice little raised deck through the French doors, which we used to have breakfast outside or a glass of wine or two in the evenings. Such a beautiful outlook too, with no light pollution, making the night sky so bright. Plenty of crockery and utensils in this cottage for a large family, with the added bonus of a dishwasher to sort them all out ready for the next meal. The girls loved the heated pool and were in there every day at least once, thanks to the generosity of the owners. The bedrooms were cosy and the beds extremely comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! Thank you to Georgia and her family for a wonderful stay and thank you Bear for your company! The girls miss you!

A wonderful holiday in a perfect rural cottage.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage suited us very well, my 89 year old mother managed all the steps and stairs very well! The layout is well planned and the cottage very well equipped.

It was marvellous to have use of the lovely pool, the hours for guest use are generous and it all worked very well even though it was very warm weather and in school holidays when I imagine everyone wants to use it.The grounds are lovely and it will be a long project to tame them, but work is well underway. Lovely walks from the house and plenty of places to visit nearby, masses of tourist info and local maps in the book cases.

Georgia and her team presented the cottage well and left a generous welcome pack.

Owner's Response: We are delighted that our guests enjoyed their stay. As they said, there is work to be done in the garden and grounds but we aim to gradually improve things over time. Thank you and we hope to see you again in the future.
