Had a big family Christmas with our four daughters plus partners and children. Everyone had a fantastic time and we all enjoyed a stress free and fun filled Christmas to remember. Plenty of room in the kitchen for multiple cooks to operate without friction definitely helped as there was a lot of large meals to be cooked during the week. Evenings spent singing round the open fire. Seems too good to be true looking back, but it happened and we have the photos to prove it.
We stayed at the house with 3 other families. Lovely House, full of character: uneven floors, secret master bedroom behind another door. Really quirky. Loved it. Beautiful location, really rural.
The house had a cosy lounge adjacent to the kitchen which was convenient. The major issue were the staircases all of which were very hazardous even for the fittest of people but dangerous for children. Many low beams were also a problem but expected in a property of this age. Quality of bedding, towels and general kitchenware was far below standard of similarly priced properties we have stayed in. The dining room was cold and dismal. The attic room was the worst with a table in the middle covering a dangerous hole in the floor, no mirror, or even a chair and a bathroom the you had to limbo dance to access. On a positive note it was clean throughout. Having 2 fridges was useful too. We left a day early as had had enough.
This was a great place to stay for a group of families with children. The house was amazing with 3 floors and some interesting old features. The children loved playing hide and seek.... It was a great location in South Norfolk and we were able to get to Bewilderwood and the coast within a 40-50 minute drive. The stairs, low doorways and uneven floors made it all the more interesting - particularly after a trip to the local pub ! There was one ground floor room but in general it would not be suitable for those with poor mobility or very young children. The gardens were beautifully maintained and it was in a lovely peaceful location. Highly recommended!
