Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage located in village within New Forest National Park

Thimble Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests plus 2 babies.

It is a delightful holiday cottage that provides the best of old world charm combined with modern convenience, offering spacious accomodation with character and style.

This pretty 17th century thatched cottage is furnished to a high standard with 2 living rooms and plenty of comfortable seating.

It is our family holiday home and as we regularly use the cottage with our 3 young children we have lots of things young children require including toys which reduces what you need to bring. We also have a well equipped kitchen so cooking at the cottage is easy and we also have need a bean to cup coffee machine. There is a dinning table which seats six and two high chairs.

The garden is large and fully enclosed with two seating areas and a gas BBQ.

Located just north of Lyndhurst we are just 5 mins drive from Paultons Park, the home of Peppa Pig world and a 25 min drive (at the right time of day) from the beach at Mudeford. Obviously there are also all the activites of The Forest itself including walks, cycle paths and pubs.

Please note due to insurance restrictions the wood burner is not available for guests to use.

About Debbie

We see the cottage as our second home which we share with the guests who book to stay. We orignally bought it pre children so we could escape London at the weekends and enjoy the outdoors. We now have a 4 year old and 2 year old twins who also love the cottage and The Forest. This means the cottage is very suitable for families with children but also for grown ups.

Debbie purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Debbie chose New Forest

We love the fact that the cottage has the character of an old thatched cottage with a light modern extension at the back. This means we have a cosy front room which we use in winter and the evenings, but a light living room next to the kitchen and the garden for summer and the day time.

We also love the garden and have changed it a lot since buying the cottage, adding fruit trees, roses and a raised decking area at the back to make the most of the views across the fields.

Spacious & comfortable

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage in a great location to explore the whole area. Only a few minutes drive to Peppa Pig World (our primary reason for visiting) but also a million miles from the hustle & bustle of real life. Escaping into the Forest to follow the Gruffalo trail and watch the horses was just as much fun for all.

The cottage itself was light and airy - very comfortable for our family of 5. Very well equipped with high chairs and a baby seat for our youngest. Having the two lounge areas meant the kids had space to play inside although they made the most of the garden as well.

We'll be back in a couple of years when the youngest is ready for his visit to PPW!!!

Beautifully appointed cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cottage as a family with 2 young children (5 months and 4 years old) and it worked really well for us. The cottage is in a fantastic location - it's very close to Paulton's Park (a 5 minute drive away), the attractions in the New Forest are nearby and you can walk into the village. Inside, the cottage has been beautifully decorated and furnished - the beds were super comfortable, the bedroom blinds had black-out lining and the sofas are enormous! As an added bonus, there were lots of toys that our son enjoyed playing with. It definitely felt like a home from home.

Great house for young families.

  • 4 of 5

Clean, nicely presented. Close to peppa pig world! Lots of toys available to use and also highchairs/bed guard/cot for guest use. Lovely garden which we were able to enjoy as weather was great. Easy to find and neighbours were very helpful in meeting us upon arrival. All in all we were very pleased with our stay and would consider renting again!

Stunning and luxurious

  • 5 of 5

The owners have been superb from the beginning and nothing was too much trouble. The house was warm, cosy and beautifully decorated. It is well equipped and beds are super comfortable. We had a 6 year old and a 4 year old and they loved it. There is plenty of space to move around the cottage and we loved the snug room at night once the kids were asleep to settle down and watch telly. The new forest is about a 10 minute drive to some great walks at Bolderwood and Acres Wood and we even went to the white buck inn at burley on christmas eve which was fantastic. There are horses over the road to say hi to. All in all this was a hidden gem and a perfect place to spend christmas. Thank you so much for letting us use your wonderful cottage.

Very comfortable and well equipped

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely property, with plenty of appliances to make the stay comfortable, we did a lot of local produce cooking, both indoor and on the excellent BBQ . The cottage is a good size with lots of lounge and kitchen lounge seating. Everything was provided we needed. The garden like the cottage is large and lots of different areas to relax in and have that well-earned glass of wine.

It’s well situated for getting around the New Forest and other areas, so if feeling lazy there are plenty of pubs/inns/restaurant fairly local
