About the property

Lovely Village Location, 3 King rooms, 1 Family room, 1 single room, 5 bathrooms

Rose Cottage is approaching her 200th birthday and is a picturesque Yorkshire stone cottage in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. Located in the village of Goathland, famous for its Heartbeat and Harry Potter connections it is a Grade II listed gem with wood burning stoves, original features and an enclosed cottage garden.

The cottage itself is just a short stroll away from the village shops and tea rooms and there are three pubs within ten minutes walk which all offer evening meals.

The lounge features traditional beamed ceilings, a wood burning stove and comfortable leather sofas and chairs, it has Satellite TV and a DVD player. The fully fitted country kitchen is again set under original beams and is equipped with all self catering essentials. There is a spacious dining room with a wood fire and a utility room with laundry facilities. There is also a downstairs toilet.

The ground floor bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite shower room with Satellite TV. The room is accessed via two steps down from the lounge and has its own French doors leading onto a back patio and the side access gate..

The first floor houses a further four bedrooms. There is one bedroom with a king size bed and en suite WC/shower. The largest room upstairs is a family room with a king size bed and a day bed with trundle (2 singles) which has en suite shower, WC and bath and has Satellite TV. A further single bedroom and a double bedroom (with king size bed) share access to a family bathroom with stand alone bath tub and a shower. This double bedroom can have an extra guest bed or trave cot on request. There are two baths and four showers in total in the cottage.

There is an enclosed garden all around the cottage and a patio area with outdoor seating and a BBQ for the summer months. There is ample parking to the side of the cottage for three cars while another car can be parked on the driveway.

Dogs are allowed but this must be agreed in advance. Travel Cot and High chair available. Bed linen and towels are provided for your arrival. Please note that the cottage is strictly non-smoking. There is free Wi-Fi access throughout. Please contact us for details regarding short breaks.

Family autumn half term holiday

  • 5 of 5

Great position in characterful village in heart of Yorkshire Moors. Walks plentiful from the house, cars didn't move till mid week as we took full advantage of steam train excursion to Whitby, plenty to do including cycling and 'Going Ape' for the youngsters in Dalby Forest, later in the week. Coast and country all close.

A gem in Yorkshire

  • 5 of 5

The house is close to the shops of the town, yet it seems to be in the middle of the countryside. It is very comfortable for a big group and very well equipped. We were three families staying together and there were five rooms, four of which with en suite bathrooms. The kitchen had everything you'd need to cook for a big party of eleven and there was a big table in the dining room for all of us to share meals. Another plus was the beautiful garden, which we were able to enjoy on sunny afternoons. Totally recommendable

Rose Cottage is just a stroll away from the steam railway and has lovely views of the village and the moors all around.

The village itself has a variety of shops, pubs and cafes and of course Whitby is a short hop by car, bus or steam train.

Walkers are truly spoiled for choice with the nearby Roman Road, Rail trail, Mallyan Spout waterfall, the stepping stones at Darnholm or there is always Beck Hole for relaxing with a pie and a pint.
