About the property

Recently built wooden Alpine Chalet - wood stove, hot tub, 3 bathrooms, 4 beds

Sleeping 8, Chalet Milou is a recently built traditional wooden alpine chalet with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large open living area which offers a wood burning stove, walk round balcony and hot tub. Its recent build to high standards ensures warmth, comfort and relaxation to guests year round. Morillon is a traditional French alpine village rather than a modern ski resort so it maintains a lovely family atmosphere. Chalet Milou is very close to 3 different ski lifts all offering rapid access to the vast Grand Massif ski area. Morillon is just a few hundred metres walk away, and the beautiful historic village of Samoëns with its lovely main square, shops, restaurants and markets is just 1km. Chalet Milou also has its own generous private garden with outside BBQ.

The main living area is on the first floor: The very large family kitchen is open to the dining room across the integrated breakfast bar – allowing sociable family cooking and eating. The kitchen offers a very large full height American fridge and separate huge full height freezer; it also has a Microwave, 5-hob gas cooker, electric fan oven, fan extractor, and double sink; it is extremely well equipped with all the modern kitchen machines, utensils and mod cons you would expect in your own home (Espresso Machine, French coffee press, Electric Mokka Pot, toaster, Fondue set, Raclette set, blender stick, kettle, Soda Stream, knife sharpener, etc). We also provide an abundance of quality pots, pans, casseroles, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

On arrival you will find a welcome pack containing starter quantities of: Bread, spaghetti, tinned tomatoes, beer, wine, milk, Salt, pepper and spices, Tea, Coffee, butter/spread, Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil, loo roll, soaps, washing up liquid, washing powder - and probably lots of other things. Obviously, this welcome pack is designed to help you out for the first few days of your stay rather than sustain throughout your stay - so you will undoubtedly want to visit the nearby large Carrefour supermarket to do your full shopping.

The kitchen flows onto the dining room with an 8-seater wooden table, which flows through to the sitting room with sofas, TV, and wood burning stove. Satellite TV (all UK Freeview channels), WIFI, as well as a powerful bluetooth speaker is provided with connections for streaming or playing from your own Laptop/PC or mobile device. The generous wooden balcony surrounds the living room and has an area with a large hot tub. On a separate part of the 1st floor is Bedroom 4 (double or 2 twin if preferred) with a bathroom opposite with WC, sink and shower.

The second floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom is 25 m2 and has a double bed, balcony and ensuite bathroom (bath, separate shower, WC and sink). Bedrooms 2 and 3 are both double/twin and are 20m2 in size. All bedrooms have ample hanging and storage space for guests clothes and belongings. Bathroom 2 is located next to the bedrooms and offers a bath with shower, WC and sink.

The ground floor has the main entrance, heated boot rack, ski rack and shoe storage.

About Fiona + Q D'Arcy

We fell in love with the authentic village atmosphere in Morillon many years ago. We first owned a chalet here in 1999, and have now moved even closer to the centre, restaurants and lifts. Chalet Milou offers the perfect combination of comfort, tradition, modern comforts, a peaceful location, and proximity to all amenities and lifts.

Fiona + Q D'Arcy purchased this chalet in 2015

Why Fiona + Q D'Arcy chose Morillon

Chalet Milou has ample space to relax with its 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and large open living area with a wood fire, walk-round balcony and hot tub. It is impeccably built and decorated to offer you the highest standards of comfort and peace all year round.

What makes this chalet unique

One of the major benefits of Chalet Milou is that it is in a quiet wooded rural surrounding, and yet is just a short walk (400 metres) to the ski lifts, shops, bars and restaurants of Morillon village. It is also only 1 km from the beautiful village of Samoëns with its well know facilities. For the summer, the swimming lake, tennis courts and climbing park of Morillon are within 1 km.

Brilliant time. Lovely place to come back to after a long day on the slopes. Any questions we had were answered very promptly. Would definitely go back.

The only chalet we have ever said we'd return to.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful and well-equipped chalet with plenty of room and a lovely, spacious, inclusive communal dining/kitchen/lounge area really sets this chalet apart. Conveniently located (only 3-4 minute drive from Morillon cable car, bakery, bars, etc) and tucked away, this chalet is the perfect escape for ski/snowboard holidays. The boot room had plenty of space for equipment, coats, helmets, etc with a heated boot rack.

The hot tub was such a treat and perfect after a day on the slopes. The kitchen was plenty big enough for cooking and socialising and the chalet really is well-equipped for self-caterers (we were a group of eight). The owners ensured we had starter amounts of tea, cooking oil, herbs, beers, sugar. We were never short of cutlery, crockery or cooking equipment. There was a dishwasher and washing machine (inclusive of dishwasher tablets and detergent), double sinks, lots of fridge/freezer space. The beds were comfortable and extra blankets available in case we were particularly cold (which we weren't as the chalet heating is so efficient). We are not exaggerating when we say we couldn't have asked for anything more. Not ones for spending our precious annual leave on re-visiting places we've already been; this is the only chalet we have said we would definitely return to.

The property is clean, warm, comfortable, accommodating and well maintained; Graham and Gaelle were a fantastic help before, during and after our stay.

Thank you for playing such a big part in ensuring we had an amazing week, tucked away in the mountain!

We had an amazing holiday and a massive part of that was the high quality of our accommodation. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.

All we could have wished for . . . . and more

  • 5 of 5

I had assumed that the photographs had been taken with some sort of tricky estate agent's magnifying lens, but no: the chalet really is as spacious as it appears. The open plan living-eating-cooking area in particular is huge. We spent a wonderfully relaxing family Christmas at the Chalet Milou and the production of full Christmas dinner was a breeze thanks to the excellently equipped kitchen. It was spotlessly clean and the bedrooms are charming. The owners, Fiona and Q, and managers, Gaelle and Graham of Kukipegs, worked in harmony to answer our every query. It is a short walk to the restaurants and bars in town, but the chalet location is peaceful. I would recommend this chalet without hesitation to anyone looking for a relaxing setting with space for everyone to do their own thing. Snow conditions were not great over Christmas, but the enthusiastic skiers in our party drove over to Flaine to take advantage of the few runs that were open, so no complaints there.

Wonderful Chalet in magical location

  • 5 of 5

Brilliant chalet with amazing big living area and the best kitchen of any French property I have stayed in. The position is quiet and pretty but really close to the lifts and only a 5 minute drive to Samoens - great hosts and god communication

Do not hesitate to book.

Lovely chalet in a beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

When we arrived at the chalet we were surprised to see that there was a self contained apartment (Exige) on the ground floor which was rented separately (with a small patch of outdoor space). As we were looking for privacy that might have put us off at time of booking so I am glad we didn't know because we barely noticed the tenants and it still felt like the chalet (Milou) was 'ours'. We loved the walks in surrounding woodland and mountains, although we were disappointed that dogs were not allowed in any of the nearby lakes. At the chalet we enjoyed time on the balcony and Graham was on hand for any help we would need. The house is very well kitted out, comfortable, clean and cosy. We thought it was great value for money.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review - we are so glad you fully enjoyed your time at Chalet Milou. Yes, we changed the name of the chalet from "Chalet Exige" to "Chalet Milou" a few months ago - so I hope that didn't cause confusion ! Yes, Appartment Exige has a totally seperate entrance on the other side of the building and there are no shared facilities or areas at all. As you say, it does not affect or impinge on the peace, space and total independence of Chalet Milou. Thanks again for the great review !

Great Chalet for two families

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay in Chalet Exige. We were shocked how huge the chalet was for 8 people, it took us a while to find the 4th bedroom, so we certainly felt we had enough space for 2 families. The bedroom with the wendy house cupboard was great fun for the kids to sit in and play games of an evening. Sking from this Chalet was very straightforward there is free parking just opposite the village ski lift, about a two minute drive away, with some fun skiing off the trails through the trees easy to find and amazing powder in Flaine even if when snow conditions aren't great lower down. In the evening if you can pull yourself away from the comfort of the snug chalet, Samoens is only a few minutes in the car, it is beutiful with lots going on. Whilst this chalet is not ski in ski out this chalet ticks almost every other box on any skiers list, we were very pleased with our choice and would highly recomend this chalet it is good value for money, big, comfortable, clean, and a good locaction for sking and looking about locally.

Thanks Fiona for letting us into your home, we hope to come back again in the future.
