About Margaret Makepeace

We bought the property as a second home and use it ourselves for holidays as we love the area. We now live in Yorkshire but some of our family still live in Durham so we visit as much as we can. Since renting out the property as a holiday let we have met some wonderful people from far and wide and have really enjoyed the experience. If you decide to book a holiday in No. 21 we will do our best to make your stay enjoyable.

Absolutely lovely!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have enjoyed our stay at this property more! We stayed here with our three children as we were just moving to Durham, while waiting for our permanent accommodations to be ready. The home is cozy, comfortable and delightfully furnished. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the heart of Durham and it is just around the corner from the bus station and taxis if you are in need of further transport. There are multiple shops in the area to purchase food for self catering. The hosts were kind, helpful and accommodating. We were even welcomed with a basket of goodies on the table. Really could not ask for better! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!

Great house

  • 4 of 5

Excellent house and hosts. Welcome basket waiting, washer/dryer, very clean, wonderful to stay in. Front bedroom (double) a little noisy on weekend nights as people use the otherwise quiet street to cut through from the pub. Very central - easy to get everywhere (groceries, bus station, restaurants, the beautiful river). Central heating, good water pressure, books with instructions for everything.

An excellent place to stay in Durham City

  • 5 of 5

A really central location and, once one gets used to the hilly terrain of Durham, a lovely comfortable home base. The little enclosed sit-oot-ery is a great plus. Thank you for the personal welcome and the grocery basket. With the railway and bus station and shops all within about ten minutes walk it all made for a great holiday.

Thanks again, Donald & Maggie.
