About the Owner

Bob and Barbara Ross at your service. We moved to Deganwy in 1988 to open a French country-style restaurant, which we ran here for over 15 years - Barbara being quite the Francophile and a natural in the kitchen. All the while we lived above the restaurant with our two children. Before that, we had been running a successful country pub near Corwen, having spent the previous decade farming in the hills above Ruthin. During that time, I played double-bass with the Merseysippi Jazz Band, which led to me jetting off regularly to America to perform in jazz festivals, with Barbara as my chief groupie. Since "retiring" in 2003, we have lived in the Languedoc in south-west France, in a succession of self-renovated cottages. It is an ideal location to indulge one of our other great passions: wine. Whenever we find a new and exciting wine, we ship it back over to the restaurant to sell exclusively.

Fabulous! Warm, inviting and very comfortable - we couldn't have asked for a better place!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had the most wonderful weekend at this lovely property in Deganwy. It had everything we needed and was ideally located for us to explore this beautiful part of north Wales - the views from the house are gorgeous. Just a short walk took us over the harbour to Conwy - perfect, as two of us were running the Conwy Half Marathon. Access to the property was easy, parking is extremely cheap & convenient (railway car park just over the road) and the owner was friendly and welcoming. Cai always came back to emails v quickly and was extremely accommodating when I had questions about our young children. I would heartily recommend a stay here. We'd love to come back - thanks!

A beautiful view, a cosy maisonette and Cai was very helpful.

  • 4 of 5

The maisonette is warm, bright and comfortable. We had a good stay. It's a beautiful area however road noise is a problem and we found the restaurant underneath noisy too. Cai went the extra mile, supplying us with croissants and jam as well as a large basket of fruit. Thank you.

Perfect property to aide rest and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful week's holiday here. The property was immaculately clean, the beds supremely comfortable, the facilities perfect and the views stupendous! As two widowed ladies in our eighties we wondered how we might cope, but everything was very easy. The apartment had everything you could possibly want, and with buses and trains stopping in front of it everywhere was easily accessible. The apartment would suit old and young alike. We went out everyday but it would have been as easy to sit in and watch the changing sea scape from the lounge. The French restaurant underneath was superb. We were lucky enough to eat there twice but would have done so more had it not been booked! Next time we come we will book the restaurant at the same time as the apartment. Cai could not have been more helpful throughout our stay. It was a wonderful, peaceful, tranquil retreat. We would recommend it to all our friends/ relatives, and Father Time permitting we will return! Many thanks.

Charming old-world apartment with a view of Conwy Castle

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this apartment in Deganwy was lovely. We (two adult friends) were here for 5 days and this apartment was the perfect place to rest our souls after a day of sightseeing. The living room windows looked out over the bay (beautiful!), the train station (handy and very quiet) and Conwy Castle. It was clean and comfortable, with an old-world charm. Cai, our host, left enough treats to get us through a day, not to mention a bottle of wine! Nicely stocked kitchen, big airy bedrooms, nice bathrooms - one with a tub! We liked the back patio area for soaking up sun and drinking our coffee and wine.

It's nicely located between Llandudno (where you will need to go for market), Conwy town and Castle (which can be walked to), and Snowdonia beyond (which should not be missed!). Below the apartment is Paysanne's - what I can only assume is a world-class French restaurant, from the aromas and the way it was filled to capacity each night. We missed our one opportunity to eat there, regrettably; don't make the same mistake. Restaurant noise was NOT a problem.

We stayed here without the convenience of an automobile, which didn't present many problems once we figured out the train to Llandudno. Twice when we needed him, the owner Cai was immediately available and very helpful. Wifi was a little spotty, but we didn't come to Wales to surf the web. This apartment would be perfect for up to 4 adults or a family of 4.

Here are some of the photos I took in the area: https://frandwight.smugmug.com/Art-Travel/WALES-2016/DEGANWYCONWYLLANDUDNO-1/

A very comfortable, happy, relaxing apartment with lovely views.

Set in a great location for touring. Being a couple of minutes walk from the beach made it for my 5 year old grandson. Just lovely!

From the Owner

We fell in love with Deganwy as soon as we spotted it. We were keen sailors with a boat restoration project in the offing. As such, Deganwy was ideally located for us on the river Conwy, an extremely popular area for skippers from all over the world. We also found that, having lived a rural existence for so long, Deganwy was a remarkably central location. It is less than an hour's driving distance from Liverpool, Chester, Portmeirion, Snowdonia and Beaumaris. We recently used our renovation skills to transform this waterfront-set family home into an extremely comfortable holiday flat for others to enjoy.

From the Owner

Like many properties from the same period, the rooms are very spacious. The décor is unobtrusive and designed to help you relax. The moment we both looked at each other and instantly decided to buy this place was when we first gazed through the living room window at the boat-filled river, over to Conwy castle with the mountain range of Snowdonia set clearly in the distance. We felt privileged to have had such a view on our doorstep for so long.
