A Superb Victorian Manor house

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
4 Bedrooms, Sleeps 9, 10 mins from Conwy.

Berthlwyd hall is a fine Victorian house just 10 minutes from Conwy Castle. Built in 1898, immediately as you enter through the large oak front door you know you are somewhere special. The superb hall is just a marvel to behold with its ornate oak fireplace and panelling, and oak staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms and stained glass atrium above. This large country house was divided into three by the current owner and Berthlwyd Hall is the middle house. I would describe the space as sociable and ideal for entertaining larger groups. Each bedroom has an ensuite and there is even a bar (unstocked!) and a pool table. The massive sitting room is fabulous and leading out from there, guests have use of the shared garden area outside. Berthlwyd Hall is about old world charm with so many wonderful original features and is a truly great house for a holiday. The house is very private with some fine views. It is also located in a small luxury holiday park.

Berthlwyd hall is located in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park with all its stunning scenery and great walks from the doorstep. The ever popular town of Conwy with its medieval Castle and fortifications are just 10 minutes by car making the location a great spot to explore North Wales. Conwy has an abundance of places to eat and drink and with the seaside town of Llandudno just 15 minutes away, if you are interested in a more active holiday then there is so much to do and see. Zip World is close by, Bodnant Gardens too and we would always recommend a visit to Betws y Coed a pretty and bustling all year round village widely regarded as the walkers’ entrance to Snowdonia.

Bedrooms: 4 upstairs bedroom all ensuite. One king size double with ensuite shower room, One twin bedroom with ensuite shower room, one double bedroom with adjoining bathroom. There is also a master suite with four poster bed, sitting area, and a bathroom with separate shower.

Bathrooms: Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom or shower room.

Kitchen: Well-equipped fitted kitchen with range cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and drying machine.

Sitting Room: Very spacious sitting room with comfy seating for all guests, TV, DVD and open fire. There is a bar area and pool table.

Dining: There is a big dining table in the hall. This is a great place to have dinner in such grand surroundings. There is an open fire.

Garden: Large shared garden with outdoor furniture.

Heating: The house has a combination of central heating and electric heaters in the upstairs bedrooms and open fires in the sitting room and hall . Logs are available locally.

Parking: There is plenty of off road parking in a private parking area close to the house.

Changeover Day: Friday and Monday.

A BEAUTIFUL FIND.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in the house in OCT 2016 and on our arrival we were taken away with the sheer grandeur of the property. There was ample parking also which was a bonus. The house reminded us of many of the National trust properties we have visited and was great for games of hide and seek with the children. The bar was brilliant fun as the children stocked up on crisps and nuts and served the adults and loved playing "shop". The pool table was also a lovely addition to the stay. On the more practical side the bedrooms and washing / bathing facilities were great as watch the kitchen and all the amenities (freezer / tumble dryer / washing machine/ ample plates / cutlery etc). The house did look tired and could do with a bit of TLC but I guess the tiredness of the house added to the character. It did not at all put us off.

The house is a short drive from Llandudno. The house is walking distance from Conwy some two miles away also. We visited the local Church in Conwy for the Sunday service (St Marys) and we were made to feel really welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of this ancient Church. The walks from the house are steep but well worth the views. All in all a brilliant find and I would recommend it very highly for a holiday as the house is just so unique !!!!!!!!

Great walking holiday.

  • 5 of 5

Great place, plenty of room, fully equipped, gardens, easy parking, helpful people, quiet and near some beautiful walks and scenery. Our group of 8 have been arranging walking/sightseeing weeks once a year for 17 years and this was, for us, one of the best.

Spacious Old Hall Ideal for a Family Gathering

  • 4 of 5

Berthlwyd Hall dates from the 1800's and is full of period features and charm. There is a lot of space for a family holiday and a fully equipped modern kitchen. It was lovely to have a big dining table in the hall with the lovely sweeping staircase, ideal for all the family to sit down together to eat. The teens missed their WiFi access, which would have been useful for booking days out. However, the lounge contains a bar (unstocked) and pool table which kept all generations of the family amused in the evenings. There is easy access to Conwy which is beautiful as well as many other places to visit. Overall would definitely recommend, bearing in mind that it is 'old'. Great in the summer months, expect it would be very cold in the winter!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Manor house. We had a problem when on holiday and text Kay and she sorted it straight away. We found not having Internet was a problem when trying to sort days out has phone signal was bad to. Would of given 5 stars if it had Internet and a few maintenance problem was done. Overall its in lovely location to go to plenty of places like walking snowdon, slate mine take your pick of castles to visit and Welsh Mountain zoo just a few.

A wonderful old building, in a great location. Lots of activities within easy travelling distance.

Hall has seen better days. Windows were rotting, floor tiles were loose and rugs were stained. But it had character and was great value for money. Lots to do in and around the area.
