Overview

About the property

Dob Cottage is a one bedroom cottage walking distance to restaurants and shops

Dob Cottage is a nearly new stone built cottage in a pleasant courtyard setting, just a short stroll from the village centre with all it's amenities. The cottage is fitted out with all mod.cons. and yet has the characterful beams so typical of the area. The bedroom on the ground floor has 2 comfortable 3ft beds (can convert to double) with 300/400 thread count Egyptian cotton bedding and pocket sprung mattresses. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower plus wc and wash basin.. Upstairs is an open plan kitchen/lounge area with all modern facilities including a 42" flat screen television, with DVD player.

No more than two minutes walk away, there are good restaurants, take-aways, shops, ATM's and lots of countryside walks, so no need to use the car . There is an allocated parking spot right outside the door of the cottage.

The charming village of Holmfirth with its many quirky little shops and eating places, is just 5 minutes drive away.

About Jenny Foster

I have lived in this beautiful, rustic and friendly area now for 16 years, and although I'm from "over the hills" they don't seem to hold it against me! I retired a short time ago, and that gave me the opportunity to start my little holiday let business which has been a dream of mine for some time. I live in close proximity to Dob Cottage and after driving around the North West as a self-employed rep. for many years, I am enjoying the delights of this area, with it's wonderful characters, scenery and "things to do".

Jenny Foster purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Jenny Foster chose Yorkshire Dales

I love this area because of the spectacular scenery, and the amazing wildlife. For birdwatchers, it is a very worthwhile area to visit, with the owls and the curlews on the moors, and the woodland birds in the valleys.. It is a very "arty" area with many talented artists and sculptors. There are several events throughout the year ie.Art Week, The Folk Festival etc. The local Tourist Information Office has the details! Country pubs and good restaurants and loads of good walks make it an excellent tourist destination. The Holme Valley is picturesque, rustic, and has a warm and welcoming charm all of its own. I like to think that Dob Cottage is a relaxing and comfortable place to come home to, after a busy day of exploring!

What makes this cottage unique

We chose this area to live because, although we have all the facilities we need in the village, we are surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Also, the proximity of the cities of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, make it ideal.

Notes:
There are several reservoirs within a short drive of Dob Cottage, all of which have spectacular views, and many with eating places close to hand. There are so many wooded and hilly areas to explore, you would never be short of somewhere new to walk! Canal and river walks are in abundance. The Tourist Information office in Holmfirth, has all the information you would need with regard to the many annual events which take place around the area, including Art week, the Folk Festival, and the Food Festival. The Picture Drome in Holmfirth, has events on continually and is very popular with tourists and locals alike. A little further afield there are many villages, museums, houses and gardens of historical interest to investigate, depending on your preference. No need to be bored!! Or, of course, the cottage and village is the perfect place to do nothing at all!

It was a perfect stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was in a great location close to the center of town. Everything was clean and well organized. The bathroom was the nicest and most modern of anyplace we stayed during our 2 weeks in England.

Jenny was very helpful and readily available for any questions we had.

I would highly recommend this rental.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind review. It's thanks to the people who help with the upkeep of the cottage, that it is kept so clean and well presented. It's also a big plus that the cottage is so close to good eating places and shops, with lots of country walks on the doorstep. I hope you will come and visit again sometime - you would be very welcome. j.

Excellent accommodation, clean, tidy and nice furnishings. Honley is nicely situated for exploring round and about. Nice places to eat on the doorstep, especially the tapas bar. Jenny was very helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommend.

Clean and very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Well equipped. We had a very enjoyable stay. Jenny popped over to welcome us after that we were left alone to enjoy our stay. We would recommend Jacobs Well and the Fire and Ice for meals both places were very nice and the staff were very welcoming. All in all if we came back to the same area we would definitely stay here again. Once again thanks Jenny.

I stayed at this cottage for a couple of weeks while visiting my parents. The cottage was just amazing and so close to the village centre near good eating venues. Jennys hospitality was second to none, thanks for an awesome stay, I will be back.

Superb. Clean tidy well appointed and warm.

Great location. Quiet location but close to all that you need. Very warm welcome with thoughtful basic groceries including wine left for us on arrival. The property is immaculate. We didn't want for anything. Incredibly well maintained and tastefully decorated.
