Thank you for your lovely welcome and the use of your comfy cottage. We really enjoyed our stay in Ingleton. Autumn (7yr old almost 8, Granddaughter) remained excited about her holiday throughout and when we handed her back to Mummy, the whole adventure was given in great detail and enthusiasm.

We hoped to go into White Scar Cave but the flash flood put paid to that. Autumn was excited by the flooding and the water gushing out of the cave. The “wow” from seeing all the swollen streams made her day too. We also did some Geocaching around the area. Autumn does that with her Mummy and knows how to find them with the help of gps and an app on her phone (only used for the geocache). If you want to know a bit about Geocaching, look at this site, https://www.geocaching.com/play

We visited Ribblehead Viaduct, Autumn much impressed by that. Malham and Janet’s Foss impressed her greatly and she studied the rocks and flowers. She also enjoyed an hour in the Ingleton Swimming Pool.

On the way home we visited RSPB Leighton Moss, where we had lunch before walking around the site. Autumn enjoyed 2 children’s activities while there. She also enjoyed the bird watching and recorded her observations. I do bird watching with her and we started when she was much younger.

I asked Autumn which part of the holiday was the most special? We got a very diplomatic answer of, "It was all so special she could not pick one part out.”

Thank you for your welcome and gifts, we enjoyed them.

From the Owner

My father ran this property as a successful holiday home business for many years. When our two boys were young we frequently visited here during their school holidays, enjoying the many outdoor activities and attractions that Ingleton and the surrounding area has to offer.

Welcome to Ingleton, a land of caves, rivers, waterfalls and mountains to see, walk and explore.

The village has all the amenities required for your stay, including four pubs that all serve delicious meals, an Italian restaurant, Indian restaurant, two wine bars, four cafés a fish and chip shop, newsagent, a small Co-op supermarket, a convenience store, an outdoor/caving shop, bakers, and a petrol filling station.

There are many attractions and activities for all ages in Ingleton. For the adventurous there is fell walking, climbing up magnificent Ingleborough or the Three Peaks challenge of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. There is also caving and pot-holing, exploring the regions many caves and potholes.

The village has a splendid and fabulous heated, outdoor public swimming pool for you to enjoy, this is open during the summer months. (There are not many public outdoor swimming pools left in this country.)

Ingleton Waterfalls are magnificent and a must for any visitor. The trail begins in the village and the four mile walk is relatively easy, though it is advisable to wear stout walking boots/shoes.

For the keen angler, trout fishing is available in the the two rivers that run through Ingleton. Licences are available locally.

If you are interested in going underground there are two splendid show caves situated on the outskirts of the village White Scar Cave and Ingleborough Show Cave. The nearest is the famous White Scar Caves, a guided tour through the cave provides a fascinating glimpse of the underground features and formations of the cave such as the marvelous stalactites and stalagmites.

For the railway enthusiast there is the famous Ribblehead Viaduct, also tickets can be bought for the historic Settle to Carlisle Railway. Sit back on board the train and marvel at the spectacular views as your carriage crosses the moorland fells and awesome Victorian railway viaducts as you make your way to Carlisle.

Ingleton is situated on the Western Edge of the Yorkshire Dales where three counties meet, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.

Thus it is ideally placed not to just visit the Dales with it’s pretty villages and towns like Hawes, Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh and Dent but is also near the picturesque Forest of Bowland, the awesome Lake District, the historic city of Lancaster and the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Grange-over-Sands.

Wherever and whatever you do Ingleton has got everything for a fabulous holiday.
