About Janet & Michael Crabtree

Michael born in Rochdale, Janet nearby in Oldham. Living in Halifax West Yorks, I used to be an Insurance Broker until 2001 then joined youngest brother in his existing buisness cutting down trees and Janet looks after everything else. We started renting short term with a Villa in Menorca [Owners Direct Ref No. 8000840] some 19 years ago which is proving very popular.

Janet & Michael Crabtree purchased this cottage in 1985

Why Janet & Michael Crabtree chose Penrith, East Lakes & Eden Valley

The property was purchased before the bypass was started, traffic flowed relentlessly towards Windermere in the mornings and returned during the afternoons. Crossing the main road was a No No! However the bypass made Staveley village something of a backwater. It has evolved into a village with all that that is needed for a short break from the boredom of the evreyday commute. Kentmere River is just a short walk and if you are up to it you can follow it to its source in the fells.

An excellent well appointed cottage in a central location

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this cottage. Both the kitchen and bathroom were of a particularly high standard and we were very comfortable in the rest of the house.

Fab cottage close to everything

  • 5 of 5

Fab 5 days spent running, riding and enjoying the lakes and the cottage garden. We had amazing weather even came home darker than a friend in Spain.

The cottage was lovely and clean on arrival and mike and his team were fab with the info, try the farm shop on the big Kendal roundabout and the bakery in the village and wilfs. Didn't want to leave.

Thank you

Quaint cottage and great host

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Willowdene Cottage. The cottage had a lot of English charm. Mike was very helpful especially when we called him at wee hours to ask for directions at check-in. Would definitely stay at Willowdene again next time we are in Lake District. Thanks for having us.

Cottage is lovely, nice quiet with everything needed for short getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Willowdene and would throughly recommend to anybody wanting to book for a short break to Lake District. Owners are really nice and we will happily rebook when we return if available. Bathroom has been updated to a very high standard and location of cottage is great. Wood burner is really nice feature in living room and really warm to snuggle in the evening with family. Stavely village has really nice local pub, spar supermarket and fish and chip shop, really handy as all within walking distance (5 mins). Also bike shed is really handy to store bicycles and is lockable and secure.

Cottage was warm, spacious and had everything i needed and close to local shops, chippy & pub. I had time to chill out but also not far from beautiful scenery like windermere..absolutely breath taking..

Definately would go back..actually intend too if welcome xx
