About the property

Sleeps 2, large bedroom with king sized bed, bathroom, separate bath and shower.

Let your romantic side run free in this stunning 4* Gold Award retreat, gazing out over rolling countryside near the village of Crook, a few miles from the tourist centre of Bowness and Lake Windermere. From the moment you step through the door, the sophistication of Glen Rowan announces itself in style. You'll love preparing for intimate evenings in the elegant kitchen, and sinking into the leather sofa to enjoy far-reaching views by day and fire-warmed movies by night. Wake up to wonderful Lakeland mornings in the designer-chic bedroom, take refreshing or bracing walks starting straight from your door (situated on the Dales Way) and pop into the nearby Sun Inn for good food and drink. Pack your camera for those sunsets and panoramic views from the patio!

Private parking for 2 cars. Enter to the ground floor and the generous kingsize master bedroom, with deep weft carpet and fully tiled, attractive en-suite bathroom with under floor heating, bath and separate shower. Upstairs to the vaulted open plan living / dining / kitchen space, with a full wall of glass to the living area and wonderful views from the contemporary fitted kitchen. Making your morning coffee will be an absolute joy. The lounge area has a wall-mounted fire and large wall-mounted TV / DVD for cosy nights in. Doors lead from the first floor to a patio with magnificent views.

Glen Rowan is ideally located for a peaceful Lake District break, near to the attractive village of Crook and only a short drive from the popular attractions at Bowness and Lake Windermere.

Crook is pleasantly separate from the more crowded towns and surrounded by views of rolling hills and the Lyth and Winster Valleys. Traditional pubs serving delicious food are dotted throughout this green and pleasant area. Good food, peace and quiet are guaranteed.

Steeped in history and folklore, Crook was once home to the area's mill and industrial workers. Traditional cottages dating back to the 17th century still stand. The Lyth Valley comes alive with Damson blossom in the spring. Make sure you try some of the Damson delicacies on offer at the local bars and restaurants. Why not take home a bottle of Damson Gin as a souvenir?

Lake shore attractions, sophisticated shops and evening entertainments are easily reached in Bowness village, just a few miles away. On your way, you'll also pass the prestigious Windermere Golf Club.

Luxury at its best.

  • 5 of 5

A fabulous cottage, very luxurious and a heaven to come back to after a days walking. A central location to Kendal, Lake Windermere, Ambleside, Keswick etc. Stunning views from the cottage, the lambs in the fields opposite kept us entertained whilst sitting on the balcony, or looking out of the main cottage window, we had daily visits from a woodpecker on the bird feeder, kestrels, deer etc.

This was our first visit to the lakes and with the luxury of the cottage we couldn't have asked for anything better. Pauline and Dennis the owners were very pleasant and a great welcome from Pauline with the scones and jam on our arrival.

We will definitely be returning.

Luxurious and comfortable accommodation with superb views over the Cumbrian countryside.

It would be impossible not to enjoy a stay at Glen Rowan The property is thoughtfully designed, very spacious, beautifully furnished and has everything you could possibly need and it is in a superb location with views that are simply stunning. We just loved the views from every window. We were lucky to be there when the lambs were still young and frolicking and little baby rabbits were still running around. In addition to the local Lake District attractions there are some beautiful walks from the door, including a good walk to the pub at Ings, but it was always something to look forward to, coming back to this wonderful haven after a local walk or a day out.

We had a very relaxing stay and were made very welcome, including the superb jam and scones on our arrival, just what we needed after our long drive. Dennis and Pauline are excellent and very welcoming hosts. A truly wonderful stay. Thank you very much.

Luxurious Lakeland Accommodation for Two

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in the Lakes many times over the years, this wonderful cottage is by far the nearest home from home accommodation we have ever found.

Dennis and Pauline have done a wonderful job adding this extension to their home, to the highest specification you can imagine. The photographs and descriptions of the property are spot on.

Every room we found extremely spacious and it was a master stroke keeping it for two people. The kitchen area and the views from the front of the lounge are incredible. There is nothing you could want or need to improve the experience of staying in Glen Rowen.

Although we only stayed for four days and the weather was a little unkind we thoroughly enjoyed our post Christmas stay.

What a great start to 2017.

Wonderfully comfortable holiday home.

  • 4 of 5

Lovely, comfortable property, exactly as described. Situated up a narrow lane on a hillside with fantastic views. The owners (who live in the adjoining house) made us feel very welcome without being intrusive. Very well equipped and extremely spacious, warm and within easy reach of Lake Windermere. Wonderful walks nearby for all abilities and plenty of places to eat out but check opening times as many are only open at weekends in low season (same goes for National Trust)
