About the property

3 bedroom cabin sleeps 6 in village, extensive garden, decking, mountain views

Cosy cabin-style cottage sleeping up to 6 people in the grounds of the owners' own cottage but completely independent. The cabin has two double and one twin bedroom, a living room/kitchen and bathroom and is all on one level. The cabin has wrap-around decking, use of the extensive garden and plenty parking. The cabin is in the village of Braemar with excellent hiking in the summer from the door as well as being 20 minutes from Glen Shee for winter ski-ing. Shops, restaurants and the bus are all close by.

We are happy to accommodate children by supplying a travel cot and high chair. The large, wilder part of the garden behind the chalet does have a pond and this part of the garden is fenced off.

Suprisingly spacious, clean and comfortable cabin set in superb location.

  • 4 of 5

Had a wonderful stay in January. The cabin was clean, comfortable and contained everything you require.Outside is a large decking area which was very nice to sit out on under the stars(patio heater would have made it superb) overlooking the large private garden area, our dog loved it.Set in a beautiful location with a nice coffee shop at the Bothy and a great pub at Moorfield House, I would highly recommend this property. Thanks to Fiona and Colin, we would love to revisit in the future.

Blown away with experience

  • 4 of 5

We as a family of 4 adults and 1 dog had a great time in this lodge. We were running in the Braemar half marathon on the Sunday so position of the lodge was spot on. Even though the lodge is not modern it did not spoil our time their. It was very clean and the garden was unbelievable. Fiona had everything to hand. We will definitely come back. Thanks again. Cosy home from home, with a FAB garden

  • 5 of 5

Bedside Manor and Braemar are just perfect. Our cabin felt like a home and our town just like my own one in Somerset. We all felt very welcome and content and our dogs had the time of their lives. Fiona is a great host and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely make an effort to return.

This holiday home is one of the best we ever had. It is located in town but it feels that you are in the middle of nature. In the morning when you open the curtains you see all kind of birds, rabbits and our new friend the red squirrel. Please buy nuts by the butcher and feed him. You will see what he does with the nuts.

The house is more than complete. You do not need to bring anything! The hosts are great. So friendly and kind and helpful. We made great trips with the advice they gave. Thank you for this great vacation.

About Fiona Hunter

My husband and I work in General Practice - he is a GP and I am a management consultant. Our cabin is located in the grounds of our weekend home in Braemar. During the week we are just one hour away, in Aberdeen. We love to spend time in Braemar and take advantage of the many activities available as well as a regular programme of cultural events and festivals during the year.

Fiona Hunter purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Fiona Hunter chose Braemar

When we bought this property, we were astounded by the garden and the opportunities presented by having a separate "guest house", which is now our rental cabin. We very much enjoy welcoming people to our property.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin in ideally suited in Braemar village but with excellent access to all surrounding areas, especially if you are keen on walking or ski-ing. There are several shops and restaurants in Braemar, all within about 400 yards of the cabin. The cabin is completely independent of our own, older-style traditional cottage so guests are able to come and go in complete freedom and enjoy their stay.
