About the property

COMPETA -Romantic,traditional townhouse, lovely views , satalite tv and wifi

Our refurbished 'casita' (little house) has been lovingly renovated incorporating comfort and modern conveniences while ensuring its original rustic charm and character are maintained. It's situated in a quiet corner, only a short (but steep) walk from Competa's main village square.

The cosy sitting room with original floor tiles, has a comfy sofa, a flat screen television with some English channels and Wifi is available on a pay as you go basis. There is a dining table for 2.

The small but beautifully formed kitchen is equipped with a full size cooker with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster and kettle.

Upstairs there is the main double bedroom with en suite shower room.

Further stairs lead to a private roof terrace and utility room with washing machine.

The terrace affords breathtaking views of the village and surrounding countryside, extending down to the Mediterranean.

On a clear day it's possible to see the distant shores of Africa. It's absolutely perfect for romantic alfresco dining and is fully equipped with a barbeque, table, chairs and loungers .

Accessibility/Parking: The house is situated in a quiet corner only a short stroll from Competa's main village square. The steep, cobbled streets of Competa make virtually the whole village unsuitable for people with mobility problems, and for this reason we don't recommend our property to people with such problems. The traditional low ceilings and steep steps make the house unsuitable for some, but loved by others!

The centre of the village is inaccessible by car. Cars can be parked in the village's main car park, just down from Plaza Almijara, Competa's main village square, or in Plaza Carmen, at the top end of the village.

Dining out: When it comes to dining out in Competa you really are spoilt for choice, with a wide choice of cafes and tapas bars, and some excellent restaurants. These, along with the highly potent local wine, don't make the village an ideal place for calorie counters!

Our lovely roof terrace makes it very easy to dine alfresco, with supermarkets and numerous little bakeries supplying yet more goodies. Several shops also sell local produce such as honey, dried figs, olive oil, avocado oil and of course lots of wine.

Feeling energetic?: Competa borders the Sierra de Tejeda National Park, and there are some excellent walks in the area. Maps are available from the tourist information centre and there is a book in the house with further information. Alternatively guided walks are available locally, as well as horse riding. There are numerous other white-washed villages to explore close by. The nearest, Canillas, can reached on foot along an old goat track (approx. 30 mins). Here you can enjoy a refreshing beer or two, then either return to relax on the roof terrace or continue a little further to the village of Archez.

There is a lovely municipal pool ( entrance fee 3 euros a day)

The Hotel Balcon de Competa, the village's only sizable hotel, has a swimming pool in the summer months. For a small fee it's open to non-residents.

The picturesque coastal town of Nerja, with its famous caves, is only a short drive away. We have an apartment for rent there (property number 10336) if you'd like a twin centre holiday. Transfers can be arranged between Nerja and Competa.

The above rates are for sole use of the property, using ONE bedroom (for up to 2 guests). A 30 GBP per week supplement is payable for use of the second bedroom (up to 4 guests in total). For bookings of 4 weeks or more, the electric is payable extra. If you need the second bedroom please enquire for the special monthly rate. For monthly stays a prepayment for electricity will be due 6 weeks prior to arrival direct to the owner. At the end of the stay any overpayment will be refunded direct.
