About James

I've traveled to Spain virtually every single year of my entire life and I absolutely adore the country. My parents used to take me along with my brothers and sisters and then I started taking my family and now my kids are older (no grand children yet) I am sure the habits will continue.

I am studying Spanish and will probably retire here in few years time, once the Spanish improves.

I am not ready to retire just yet as the UK is my main place of work but now that I have a home here I will visit as regularly as I can if for no other reason than the food iand the weather are amazing.

It seems a shame for such a lovely house to be empty when we are not there so it made perfect sense to utilise it as a holiday home for others to enjoy.

Why James chose Puerto Rey

We looked at lots of properties over a period of about 3 years and initially I didn't want to view this house as I was adamant I needed to have 2 bathrooms, the real estate agent insisted and I am so glad he did.

With the exception of only having the one bathroom this property ticked every single other box.

So I have to be honest it was a bit of a gut feeling as soon as we walked in. The place just grabbed us as its kind of quaint but spacious at the same time.

Also the area itself is very nice, typically spanish with Markets, wonderful Beaches, fantastic restaurants, the harbour.

If you ahve a car there is much to explore in the immediate region but if not you are close enough to all amenities for it not to be a concern.

So like i said previously this property was bought on a gut feeling as soon as we walked in. The place just grabbed us as its kind of quaint but spacious at the same time and has so much to offer.

Great house and location

Good location on secure gated complex with swimming pool right opposite light bright and clean accommodation

good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance

Good meet and greet service by a personal friend of James the owner

We would recommend this property to friends we have already provisionally booked our 4 week winter getaway for next year

Sunny, Convenient and Great Value - ALMOST PERFECT

What can I say, I have stayed here several times and each time I find something else I like about it. It might be a new bar or beach or new restaurant or new people that I've met but quite frankly I cannot get enough of this place.

There are shops, bars and restaurants all within a stones throw and I found a new Churreria where they serve the very tasty if not very unhealthy CHURROS , the fattest CHURROS I have ever seen and a serving for 2 people was only 3 euros.

I watched my sport in the evening at Colin's friendly Millionaire bar , I got take away pizza twice from Sicily the Italian take away in the same street as the complex and I didn't get to sample it but a guy I know has just opened up a Fish n Chip shop.

I had more tapas lunches than you can shake a stick at and the Chinese on Las Bouganvillas ( Main road side ) is to die for.

Like I said at the top of this email we enjoyed good weather, good food, paid about a third for drinks of what we pay in the uk, ate some amazing food and came home with a healthy glow .

I really cannot wait to go back and in fact I liked it so much I am considering buying a place out there.

Nothing more to say except I had a wonderful trip. The only blemish I can think of is it was a little too windy for me to bRave the swimming pool other than that it was quite simply perfect.

A nice, clean ‘home-from-home’

The villa was exactly as described; just like a ‘home-from-home’. We also asked for a welcoming parcel (essential stuff to save us from shopping), which helps when you arrive late.

Nice and clean with everything you need.

Although there are enough shops, bars and restaurants in the area, we hired a small car and went to some lovely markets and towns.

Will definitely be back.

Good time by all

Big thank you to James and Sharron for letting us stay at their lovely apartment, the apartment was very well equipped and had every thing you require for a relaxing holiday!! the roof terrace was fab and we used it every day, the large swimming pool is just outside the apartment, we cant say any thing negative about our time spent there and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to others,

A small RETURNABLE deposit of 100 Euros is taken in cash on arrival and this is returned to you upon safe return of key.

If you arrive between 10.00 pm at night and 8.00 am in the morning a small additional fee of 20 Euros will be required. This additional 20 Euros is non returnable as it is used to bribe our key holder out of his bed. LOL !

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
