About Joe

I am from Bude and grew up on the North Cornwall coast. I know the area well and if you have anything in particular in mind you would like to do, I will be able to help with recommendations or offer advice.

Why Joe chose North Cornwall

The property has been newly renovated, taking the building right back to its shell and starting all over again. The cottage has been finished to a high standard but still maintaints the character of a traditional cottage. It has a cosy sitting sititng room with a woodburner and underfloor heating. The kitchen/dining area is modern and well equipped.

The two bedrooms have beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. There is a quiet cottage garden which is perfect for relaxing in.

Bude is a great place to visit as there is plenty of things to do including, crabbing, surfing, cycling, walking etc. It's also a good hub for daily excursions to Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Clovelly among many other places.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage combines old and new with old stone walls and wooden beams, new woodburners and high quality appliances. A perfect cottage to unwind and enjoy the surroundings, you can even hear the sea from the garden.

Fantastic, beautiful little cottage.

Great find. Very tastefully furnished. All appliances are top range. Fluffy towels and lovely bed linen. Walking distance into Bude and to the beach. Friendly owner who was available and recommend places to eat / visit. Tried to think of any constructive criticism but nothing comes to mind! A perfect weeks holiday.

Beautiful and perfectly equipped cottage with lovely hosts

  • 5 of 5

When we first arrived in Bude, it seemed as we would be moving in a new house. It was fondly renovated and offered all you can or even can't imagine. The entrance showed a cosy dining area, followed by an outstanding kitchen ... With enough plates, spoons and well preserved pots and pans (all travelers know the feeling of: hungry - I wanna cook - icky pans - no chance to cook in that kitchen). The kitchen was fantastic and shows exciting illumination. We also loved the living room ... Where we could sit and read or even watch the Olympic Games.

The second floor showed two gemuetliche bedrooms with incredible sights.

We also loved the little bathroom, because it was very modern and with a window!

Last but not least ... We had a garden with a patio, where we loved to sit.

Of course we will never forget our kind and open minded host Joe, who answered all our questions and had plenty of good advices for us.

Thank you Joe for this lovely week in your awesome cottage. We hope, we'll come back one day!

Owner's Response: It was a real pleasure hosting Antje and her family. They were great guests who left the property in immaculate condition and who I would definitely recommend to other hosts. I hope to see them again in the future. Thanks!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Exeter at 62 Miles Nearest Barpub : Restaurant & Bar at 1000 Metres Nearest Golf : Bude Golf Course or Ivyleaf Golf Course at 2 Miles Nearest Train : Exeter St Davids at 55 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Upton Beach at 500 Metres Car: recommended

Located in the South West of England. Two hours from Bristol, four hours from London.

Beautiful when the sun shines. Loads of green grass, sea, animals and pubs. 200 metres from the beach. Famous for surfing, fish n'chips, pirates(!), shipwrecks, pasties, pixies and more.

The real beauty of the cottage is that within an easy 5 minute walk there is access to the South West Coast Path and Upton's secluded beach. There is a lovely clifftop walk to Bude and its breakwater or south to Widemouth Bay.

In the opposite direction from the cottage there is a short walk to Bude canal, the nature reserve along the Canal tow-path. The cottage is in a great location to benefit from some of the most scenic circular walks around. There is also easy access to the cycle track and a variety of cycle routes (mainly ex-railway lines) There are several good surf beaches which are 5 minutes drive from the cottage.

Bude is a great area to visit and has plenty of things to do including, crabbing, surfing, cycling, walking etc. It's also a good hub for daily excursions to Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Clovelly among many other places.

The Eden Project is a one hour drive and is basically a collection of massive greenhouse domes which house a good selection of the world's plants. The Eden Project was the idea of a ex music producer from London, a local architect from Bude and was sponsored by the UK government as part of the Millenium budget. It was finished and opened to the public in 2000. There are also several music events fixed at the Eden Project in Cornwall over the summer known as the Eden Sessions and has hosted some exceptional talents like Amy Winehouse, Elton John, Muse, Mumford & Sons etc. The place is rated as the best location for concerts.
